Adorable Magique!

I am very impressed with the L’Oréal Paris Nude Magique Cushion Foundation! After never trying a cushion foundation before, and having skin which barely any foundations look good on, I was very skeptical as to whether this product would work for me or not. Well, after wearing it for a few days solid now I can cheerfully confirm that this is a fab foundation!

My skin is extremely pale, somewhat sensitive, and prone to breakouts. I usually struggle with finding foundations which aren't too dark, cover all redness well, and retain a relatively matte look throughout the day. This product ticked all those boxes for me.

To begin with, the packaging is absolutely. Adorable. You can't really tell from the image here, but it comes in the cutest little pale pink and rose gold-esque compact, which in itself would make me want to purchase this product again. It contains a sponge-like applicator, as well as the sponge product itself which contains the foundation. The perfect amount of product comes out every time, which I love - it makes layering super easy, and also avoids creating that super heavy look.

The colour is pretty good. I have 01 Porcelain, and it's a 90% match for my skin tone. I did need to add The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops in order to lighten this up a smidgen, but other than that the colour was great.

This foundation is VERY buildable - I can't stress that enough! It initially applies as a very thin, almost BB-cream like product, but you can rapidly build it up for a full coverage look. While it is described as dewy this foundation wasn't over-the-top shiny or oily looking, which I was super appreciative of. I never really go for dewy foundations, but with a quick dust of powder across the T-zone this foundation becomes matte.

Lasts well throughout the day, although generally need to reapply around the 5-6 hour mark. Overall, extremely impressed!

Tips: To apply this foundation I used the sponge once, but actually have been finding it much easier to simply press my regular foundation brushes into it instead.

First ever cushion foundation

I was super excited to be on the trial team for this since I'd been eyeing up cushion foundations for ages now. This came in a palm sized purple container which is super cute and easy to carry. I am however a little worried that it won't last me long since the cushion seems to hold very little product.

There is a little spongy cushion on the top when you open the lid and then there's another airtight lid underneath that. The cushion that holds the actual foundation seems to be pretty soaked. I watched some online videos and apparently you just gently press it down then use the face puff thing to apply to your face. It felt pretty smooth when I'm applying it but I might try it with a beauty blender instead of the original puff since it's quite difficult to get into the nooks and crannies of my face. Coverage is a bit sheer and I find I have to apply two layers for it to be satisfactory. But the good thing is it looks and feels very light. It dries to a very satin, slightly dewy finish but I immediately matte it out with some finishing powder. I applied it this morning as soon as I got it and in the afternoon it still looked pretty good. My eyelids had a tiny bit of creasing going on and some fine wrinkles were showing but I'd say overall saying power is good. I got the shade porcelain which is the lightest shade in their range. It was still a bit too dark for me (note: my shade=ghost) and I had to bring it down to my neck. I really wish they had it maybe one or two shades lighter. There is no smell and it's easy to remove with a makeup wipe. I don't think I would purchase again unless they decided to expand their range of shades.

Totally agree about the blender shame about the colour

Hi I have used it more since then but the main problem I have is that it's a bit too dark. And I did try it with a beauty blender which felt easier to apply and the finish was a bit more even.
