This product is absolutely divine on the skin, its really light weight but provides good cover at the same time. Loved it and would definitely use it again.

Great new foundation format!

I was lucky enough to be selected by BR to trial this new Loreal foundation. I selected the shade Porcelain 01 as that was the most complementary for my skin tone. This foundation is in a totally different format to anything I've ever used before. You take the little applicator sponge and press it against the cushion and you apply it like you would with a normal foundation applicator wedge. This foundation, I think, is most like a liquid foundation. Because of the cushion you don't get too much out at once so there's no wastage of product. The packaging is really pretty and cute and the mirror is a good size. I used this foundation on my skin with only a moisturiser underneath, no primer. Even though I didn't use a primer it lasted well all day on my skin so I was impressed by that. It has good coverage the first coat gives you light coverage but another coat and you have a really good medium coverage. This foundation sat really well on my skin and blended in beautifully. The colour of the foundation was pretty good and it definitely gave me a natural healthy glow as the product claimed it would. I was using a MAC liquid foundation prior to this so I thought it would be hard to satisfy my expectations but they have been well exceeded. I really enjoyed trialling this foundation and will definitely be using it until it runs out. I would repurchase this foundation and will be interested to see how long this compact lasts.

Good but not holy grail

I was super excited to get on the trial for this. I love trying out new foundations so this was perfect. I also have had a good experience with L'Oreal foundations in the past as well so I had high hopes.

I really like the packaging for this. It is a small compact in a gorgeous purpley metallic finish. It is plastic and doesn't feel overly secure for travelling but on the inside there is another seal before you get to the foundation so I'm sure it'll be fine for travelling. The mirror in the lid is really great as well and would actually be usefull on the go. The puff in the compact I found quite porous though so I found it sucked up a lot more product but wasn't great at applying it.

Onto the product. My first tip with this is to not bother using the puff at all. I tried this with a brush and a beautyblender and I found that the beautyblender was the best for this foundation. I found it was a lovely light foundation which was buildable in the areas that I needed it. I had the lightest shade which I found was a touch to dark but not enough to really worry about. My main problem with this is that I found on a full work day it didn't stay on my skin particularly well by the end of the day. For that reason I won't be repurchasing.

I have heard people complaining about there not being much product in it but I have now being using this for over a week and it doesn't appear to be running out in any way (but I'll update this if I have issues).

I think this is a nice foundation but due to it breaking down on my face I won't be repurchasing. It is nice to know that this is a good foundation otherwise though, and that the cushion isn't a gimmick.

Fresh Faced

I was pleasantly surprised by this product as I had heard a lot of mixed reviews about it from people that had already tried it!

The packaging is a bit chunky but from what I've seen of other cushion foundations, they're all quite similar. I do quite like the look of it though and it has a nice big, clear mirror in it which is great for on the go touch ups!

For probably the first time ever, I actually really like the little applicator that it comes with! I find it applies the product really well and you can either pat it on easily or rub it on. I don't think the applicator will last very long though. I've also used a sponge applicator and my fingers and both have worked fine too! Just press whatever it is you're using into the cushion and a good amount of product comes out! I usually need about 3 or 4 pushes into the cushion to cover my whole face.

The product is VERY light coverage which is not what I was expecting but I really love it as that sort of product. It blurs imperfections on my skin enough but still leaves me looking quite natural. It adds a nice glow to my skin and has a beautiful dewy finish. I really really love it for "no makeup makeup" days or when I need something to put on quickly just to make myself look a little more awake!

The lasting power isn't the most amazing thing in the world but for a light foundation this doesn't bother me too much and it's easy to touch up on!

I have the shade 03 Vanilla which is perfect for my skin tone. I'm relatively pale so it's nice that there's one for me that doesn't make my face a different colour from the rest of me. There is also a lighter shade, so for those super pale gals out there, this would be perfect!

If you're looking for a full coverage foundation this isn't the one for you. But for an everyday, fresh faced look, this is peeeerrfect!

Tips: Make sure you always shut the packaging properly so that the cushion doesn't dry out!

I like the idea of this...but it needs work

I swatched all 6 colours in Farmers and was tossing up between 03 vanilla or 06 rose beige. I went with 06 but I did feel it was a bit too rose for my complexion, with 03 being too light. I guess that's one of my complaints- the limited colour range, but if the product proves successful I guess they might put out more colours.

The packaging is lovely, convenient and clean to use. Very on the go, with no spills and an applicator included. The applicator is a major thumbs down to me. Awkward to use and pretty pathetic really. I ended up using a sponge and brush with much better results than using the enclosed applicator sponge.

Coverage is very, very sheer. It is buildable but I felt that the effort to build it up was inconvenient and I would prefer to just start with a heavier foundation instead because you only get 12mls in these compacts. It seems pointless to buy this foundation to use as a full coverage product and use twice as much. It will run out in no time. Without using a powder I found my face to be shiny within a few hours, even more so if I tried to build up more coverage. I think this was more noticeable because the colour wasn't quite right for me anyway. With powder there was no shine.

I see this as a no makeup day kind of foundation, being that it's extremely sheer. I would like to try it in a colour that is a really close match to my skin, I think I would like it as a complexion corrector to get that 'no makeup' glow.

Another big downside to this product is the high price for 12ml of foundation @ $34 it's more expensive than a higher end foundation at 30ml for $80.

Tips: Ditch the applicator puff and use a beauty blender or brush.

No mess, no fuss.

I have tried quite a few different foundations in my life but I've never tried a cushion foundation before. I know it's a Korean thing and has been around for a long time but Loreal are the first to bring out a mainstream, affordable version.

I love the look of this packaging, It's a cute little compact with a metallic pink lid and a light pink base. Since pink is my fave colour, I tend to be drawn more to pink things. In a shop, I could see myself making a beeline straight for this! The lid does up securely and when you open it, you are greeted with a mirror and a sponge. Then underneath that is another lid, which is where the foundation cushion is.

I chose this in the colour 03. It's maybe 1 shade too light for me.I think the next colour up would have been a little too dark though which is a pity. One thing I did notice about the shade was that it is only on the security sticker to seal the product. No where else does it mention the shade on the package which I thought was a little odd.

Using this is super easy. You dip your sponge or brush into the cushion, and then apply it to your face. The harder you press into the foundation, the more you'll get on your beauty tool. I love this! It saves product wastage as you only use exactly what you need and it stops you from making a mess if you pour foundation onto your hand like I do. This would be perfect to keep with you for quick touch-ups and as it has a mirror and sponge already in the compact, you could be anywhere and have no problems.

I personally wasn't a fan of the sponge it comes with though. I tried it for the first use and then gave up quickly. I think it would be fine to touch up but not for a full face. I used my rt sponge and a flat top brush and enjoyed using both of those with this product.

I have dry skin and using new foundations makes me paranoid about getting caked, flaking skin. This is perfect though, it gives a beautiful, dewy, glowing finish and doesn't cling to drier areas. Lasting power is ok, it starts fading at around 6 hours. I don't powder my skin as it gets to dry but this would probably last longer if you did powder. I've used this with and without primer and find it works well both ways. The coverage is as stated, light to medium. It's very buildable though. Start off with a thin layer and then build it up on areas you need more coverage.

I really enjoy using this product. I can definitely see myself using this again in the future when I run out. I would recommend this if you have dry skin. Oily skin types may not like this dewy finish so if you prefer matte, then stay away.

Tips: If you don't like the sponge, definitely try out a different brush or sponge. Also make sure you keep the seal and don't leave it open too long so it doesn't dry out.

Get the Dewy Glow

I am a fan of L'Oreal products and always have been. My "go to" foundation is the L'Oreal infallible 24 hour foundation and it has been my go to for many years. When I saw this new foundation had been released, I just had to try it.

The packaging is just gorgeous and is a great size for your handbag.

When you open it up the first layer contains the sponge applicator and the mirror. The mirror alone is amazing!

The second layer has the foundation which is soaked up in a sponge. You are meant to use the sponge applicator by pushing it into the foundation sponge and then apply the foundation to your face.

I tried it this way the first couple of times I used this foundation but found a beauty blender worked much much better. I also tried a brush but it applied quite streaky.

The foundation itself makes your skin flawless and REALLY dewy. I have used a few "Dewy" foundations and have found they really didn't do what they said they were going to do. This foundation definitely does and I felt younger and my skin was glowing.

I found it to be a light to medium coverage but could be quickly built up to full with an extra layer.

I would buy this foundation again and am really happy with it.

Tips: Play around with applicators to find what works best for you with this foundation.

Changed my mind

First off, I really like the idea of this foundation; it comes in a cute compact (in a girly purple colour) and has the product, a cushion pad applicator and a mirror all in one.

The foundation is liquid, soaked into a sponge, you press the cushion into the sponge to pick up some product, then press the cushion onto your skin.

I found a buffing brush gave the best results over the pad provided, I found the foundation blended very well, and was easily build-able without looking too heavy. To start with it applies with a very 'wet' appearance, but sets to a more natural glow.

UPDATED: So originally I wasn't much of a fan of this foundation, I didn't find the coverage great and I wasn't sure it was something I liked or would use again. For a few weeks after my review it sat in my drawer unused, but I decided to throw it in my makeup bag one morning because it was so compact and I wouldn't need any other tools to apply it.

While I still find it quite light coverage and dewy (which isn't my usual preference) it does a great job, I do actually really like it now and I find it the perfect on-the-go foundation.

Tips: Use a buffing brush rather than the cushion provided.

An Amazing Foundation

PACKAGING: It is housed in a convenient compact, great to travel with or keep in your handbag for touch-ups. It was a good size mirror as well. It comes with a sponge applicator to apply the foundation with. The overall look is very appealing. APPLICATION: Day 1 - I used a pore minimizing primer over the t-zone, I applied the foundation using the supplied sponge applicator. The foundation applied well over the skin on all areas of the face. However it was abit tricky getting into some areas of the face e.g. nose/ eye areas using the sponge and so application took slightly longer to apply making sure the foundation was even across the face. Day 2 - I used a pore minimizing primer and applied the foundation using an xobeauty flat top face brush. I found it was a quicker application using the brush over the sponge the day before. It applied evenly across the face by pressing the bristles of the brush into the skin then a light buff over. Day 3 - I used a pore minimizing primer, I used my beauty blender to apply the foundation. The foundation applied with ease and evenly across the face. Day 4 - I really wanted to test it with out any primer. I applied the foundation using the supplied sponge applicator. I noticed immediately it emphasized my pores!! And after 3 hours of wear it was breaking around the nose and the chin area. Day 5 - I applied a pore minimizing primer to the t-zone and the MENS Nivea Post Shave balm to all other areas of the face. I used the xobeauty flat top face brush to press the foundation into the skin and then went over top with a damp beauty blender. This was by far the best way in my opinion to apply this foundation. It went on with ease and evenly. It held up on the skin for a good 8 hours. NOTE: Only used setting powder to under eye area and on cheeks and top of forehead to blend bronzer, contour and blush on all 5 days or trial. No Setting sprays were used.

OVERALL: A great foundation!! L'Oreal have done it again. I love their Pro Matte and now this Nude Magique Cushion. It has great coverage and the beauty of it is that it is customizable, if you like a sheer, medium or full coverage it's so easy to build up to the desired application. I believe it would be a great little compact for those starting out in makeup. I love the overall finish it gives and how easy it is to apply. As for wear, it would last between 5-6 hours but with using the Nivea post shave balm as a primer it lasted a good 8 hours. I should imagine it would last longer if a setting powder and or setting spray was used. It never looked cakey throughout the day either. I loved my Smashbox Studio Skin 15hr wear hydrating foundation which RRP $76.00 and in my personal opinion this L'Oreal Paris Nude Magique Cushion Foundation is on even parr for a more affordable price of $33.99. My shade: 07 Golden Beige

Tips: If you have DRY skin: I cansee this being a little gem for you, it feels hydrating on the face and lightweight. If you are OILY skin: I would suggest using matte primers, setting powders and sprays to prolong the wear of the foundation.

Magique Magic

My first impression on seeing the packaging was ’oh how cute’. It is a small plastic pink compact with a shiny lid. Youthful and chic. The top pops up and the cushion is inside sitting in a plastic lid. Open that lid, and the product is underneath. It has a neat little mirror inside the lid.

The product is like a damp sponge, so you dab the cushion on it to pick up the product, then dab the cushion on your face to apply the product. I have to say, it’s very simple and effective. It kind of blobs onto the skin, and didn’t spread all that well with the cushion initially, that took a bit of practice, but I have it under control after a few times of using it. It doesn’t apply very thickly, so you need to apply more than one layer to build it up, if you don't want it too sheer.

It blends easily and dries quickly and leaves an even dewy tone. I really like that it doesn’t feel heavy on my skin like some foundations do. It’s quite similar to tinted moisturiser or BB cream in that respect.

I chose vanilla, as I usually don’t use any foundations with a pink undertone and thought it might look fresh on my pale skin. It’s very light on my skin but with a small hint of pink. I had some friends’ critique it, and they noted it was a bit sheer, but thought the pink undertone was just right.

It lasts well on my skin, but I do need to use mineral powder over the top to give it a little more colour. I wore it 5 days in a row, which is epic for me, I usually only wear foundation to work when I have something special on.

It washes off easily and doesn’t stain the washcloth, which surprised me. One of the things I really don’t like about foundations usually, is that they come off all over whatever you wash them off with. Gross.

Overall it has a lot of great things going for it, for me, especially that it is light to wear, not gluggy or clogging on my skin and easy to wash off, and I will certainly continue to use it.

The only negative I can think of, would be washing the cushion!

I would recommend it to others unless they had quite uneven or heavily blemished skin, and in that case it may not have enough cover.

Update: loving it more every time I use it.

Tips: Tip: Apply to freshly washed and moisturised skin, and be sure to close the compact properly after use to stop it from drying out.
