Love

I recently got a tester of this product, and went back to purchase it. When i'm at work I get quite red and patchy cheeks that gives me quite an uneven skintone, I usually look quite hot and bothered! I don't have time (or the effort really) to do a full foundation and make up every day, and I don't want to look all dolled up just to go to work.

I tried this product on it's own in and applying it with my fingers I could tell straight away it was making my skintone more even, similar to a foundation but without full heavy coverage, and it's VERY hydrating. I found on it's own it was rather dewy, so I matted it out and made it set even longer with a powder over the top.

It gives me a perfect coverage to hide my red cheeks, dark undereyes, make me look more 'awake', but without wearing a full face of make up. It just looks like flawless skin.

A winning combination in my book! I've also then added a mascara, bit of blush and mascara to have the 'no make up, make up' look.

Tips: Try one or two testers to get your colour right. 'Very light' ever so slighty washes me out, and 'light' made it look like a bad tinted moisturiser if I missed a spot rubbing it in.

What kind of undertones are in this CC cream if you don't mind me asking? :)

High coverage for a CC cream

Well, it seems like the beauty market is undecided on what a CC cream is, exactly. I would describe this particular one as essentially a foundation. It has very high coverage and a thick consistency, almost sticky which is from the high SPF. It's awesome that it has such a high SPF but unfortunately that comes with a compromise in formula.

There is a better shade selection in this than in cheaper CC/BB creams, and I use the shade 'light'. They don't come with choices in undertone, however, and 'light' leans a little pink for my skin tone. This can be evened out with a yellowy powder, but that's a bit much effort for me.

Clinique CC Cream

I tried this when it was first launched as a day-to-day alternative to my Clinique foundation. I applied this with my fingertips as I would a moisturiser and the product goes on easily and didn't react to my sometimes sensitive skin. The coverage was sheer to medium, would be good for daily use where you want a "no make-up" look. I didn't really see any "colour correcting" properties from it myself any more than a BB cream.

I have oily skin and from my experience would recommend it for people with dry to normal skin, as I found it gave a very dewy finish to start but as the day went on, I found it wearing away particularly in my T-Zone.

Tips: If you have oily or combination skin, I would recommend you try Clinique's BB Cream instead, which is very similar but I found had a more matt finish and was much more long-lasting.

Good Tinted Moisturiser

I think the whole 'CC' thing is deceptive here and is just a marketing ploy (and one that'll probably backfire at that - everyone seems so over the whole BB/CC thing that I can imagine lots wouldn't bother trying this simply because of the name). This is basically just a tinted moisturiser with sheer-medium buildable coverage and a natural looking, dewy finish. That said, it feels lovely on the skin. I generally dislike the look and feel of foundation/most base products but as long as it's blended properly this is basically imperceptible. I have combination skin that's also very sensitive and have had no problems with this product. However, I would not recommend (as implied in the description above) using this in place of a moisturiser - I did this for a while and my makeup would often look patchy by the afternoon (i.e. my skin got dehydrated). Basically, I think this is makeup, not skincare, and should be treated as such.

Tips: If you have oily skin, try applying with a brush for longer-lasting coverage and a finish that's more dewy, less sweaty.

Expected greatness.. Didn't get it!!

I was talked into this CC cream when I went into my local Beauty shop, when I was looking to buy a new foundation..

Firstly I love All the clinique products that I aready have so was expecting this to be just as good, unfortunately it is not. I was colour matched in the shop but when I went to use my one I found it quite dark on my pale skin even though it's the lightest shade available.

This product comes in a pink upside tube which I love as you can squeeze out the right amount you need. I have applied this with a foundation brush, a foundation sponge and the good old finger and each time gave me the same result, a patchy mess!!!

I found this didn't blend into my skin and just sat on my skin it didn't look nice at all and it definitely didn't give me any coverage. I have dry skin so really disappointed it didn't work for me, I Would not reccomend this and will not be using this again.

Too sheer for me

This cc cream has quite sheer coverage. It evened out my skin tone a bit but didn't really hide any of my blemish and acne scars or my redness. To be honest I didnt really find this to be colour correcting and don't see the difference between bb and cc creams. This was the first cc cream I used and I've used higher coverage bb creams in the past. I thought I would get a bit more coverage from this cc cream. I have this in the shade light, which matches my skin tone nicely. It's so sheer that you can't even tell I'm wearing it as my skin just looks normal. But perhaps I need to apply more layers to build up the coverage.

The consistency of this cc cream was nice, and smooth to apply. The consistency is similar to a bb cream and a bit thicker than your moisturiser. It was easy to blend on your skin and you can easily use your fingers but I prefer to use a brush. I set mine with powder and this lasts most if the day on my face. I have oily combination skin and found that this cc cream wasn't too oily and didn't leave my skin feeling sticky or tacky.

The packaging is a simple pale pink tube that is easy to squeeze and get the product out. Overall I won't be purchasing tip this again especially because this product is expensive.

Clinique - Moisture Surge CC Cream SPF 30

I love the texture, It feels light yet creamy on my skin, and it almost feels like my skin is 'drinking' it in leaving my skin looking glowy healthy and beautiful. If you like a natural, glowy, dewy look -this might be the product for you. I use the light and it lets my skin tone come through and definitely stays dewy throughout the day. While it is not full coverage it covers flaws and is very flattering. If you are trying to hide brown pigmentation spots like me this doesn’t quiet cover them, but will just sort of even things out a little. On a good skin day I wore it alone and with Cliniques even better foundation on other days

There is no fragrance that I could pick up, and I really like the sleek packaging. It's convenient and hygienic and I had no worries about it breaking when I traveled with it in November last year.

It corrects, protects and perfects! SPF 30 is awesome, part of the moisture surge range so is hydrating, and has optic technology where it bounces the light giving a very natural and radiant look to the skin. Id buy this again.

Not the CC of my dreams...

Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream was a product that really excited me; SPF 30, hydrating and… a ‘Very light’ shade. Hurray!

Sadly, this product did not quite meet my expectations of a Clinique product. My main issue with this product is the texture upon application. It’s just too thick and clumsy to spread evenly on the skin. It really takes a lot of working to get a nice even coverage, even with primer and a well-moisturised base.

The coverage is good, about what you’d expect from a CC cream. It won’t cover acne completely; you’ll need some concealer for that. I don’t really have freckles but I reckon it’d hide those and even out skin tone if you put a decent amount on. I find the finish of this one to be slightly…chalky. Not a matte, chalky either, I find that it leave the skin looking a bit flat. This product is not particularly hydrating, in my opinion, for something called ‘moisture surge.’ Nope, no surges of moisture for me with this one. If you have oily skin, this could be a good thing. Incompatible with my normal to dry skin; I find that it settles into lines…not ideal when you are using a product designed to look like your natural skin.

It is confusing why this product is marketed as a ‘CC’ cream. From my knowledge ‘CC’ stands for colour-correcting, and so therefore has certain pigments to act as tone correctors e.g. green hues to combat redness, mauve tones to correct yellowness etc. This product on the other hand is purley skin-toned. Someone please correct (!) me if I have this info wrong.

The ‘very light’ shade is what I have- this product appealed to me because I hadn’t until the release of this product been able to find a product of this type light enough for my skin. ‘Very light’ is ever so slightly dark for my lighter-than-NW10 skin. The colour difference is not bad enough that I can’t use it, though. This would suit NC/NW 15/20 ladies.

The product is 40ml and comes in a simple light pink tube with a squeezy dispenser so you can control how much you put on your face. I find it slightly sunscreen-y smelling, nothing unpleasant. Note the SPF 30.

I expect to slowly finish this product- it’s a product that I reach for when I need a lil’ something on my skin when going to the gym, doing errands etc., but I will not repurchase.

Thus, my epic quest for the perfect tinted moisturizer/ BB/CC/DD/EE…ZZ (when will the fun ever stop?) cream continues. Any suggestions/ reccommendations ladies?

Tips: To get a more even application, really warm the product up in your palms/ fingers before applying.

cc cream.

I really love the cc cream. It's very moisturizing and what I really love to do is wear this then put a bit of pressed powder over the top and it completes my look for the day without any oil or excess. The price is good too

Tips: Wear with pressed powder, it makes the shine go away.

Really, really don't like this one

I don't know if it's my skin, or my moisturiser, or my primer... but something does not react well to this CC cream. When I apply it, it goes on very oddly - it leaves almost like streaks across my face and sits very un-naturally on my skin. I can't get it to blend in right at all on its own.

I've tried it with different primers and moisturisers but that hasn't seemed to help. What has helped is mixing it with a l'Oreal BB cream - that makes it easier to apply and it sits more naturally on my skin. Obviously this isn't ideal, but it works. It still doesn't have staying power, but it is a pretty ok solution till I finish the tube up.

What I do like about it is that Clinique gets that girls with fair skin need fair products! The colour is perfect for my skin tone... if only it applied a bit better I'd be thrilled!

Tips: Strongly suggest getting a sample of this before you commit to buy. I wish I'd done that!
