Revlon concealer

This product is average. I used it everyday until it ran out to see whether it would last all day and hold up like the revlon colourstay foundation does. I brought the concealer in the matching colour that I have foundation. In that respect, it is easy to find the perfect concealer colour. To release the product, you twist the tube. I found that either too much or too little concealer came out. The product did last all day and hold coverage. However I found that under my eyes, it sometimes looked heavy and was very easy to clump and cake which isn’t a desired look. The amount of product is okay for the price but their are better products.

Tips: Moisture or have a good make up remover, otherwise the product is difficult to remove

Does the job

I have tried quite a few under eye concealers in the past, and this one is one that I use the most regularly. My skin is pale, so I use the pale shade, although I have been known to use the light/medium shade in summer when my skin tans up a little. I do find this product to be adequate, I don’t agree with some of the reviews here that say the product doesn’t do what it says it can do. I don’t find that it creases: if you use enough moisturiser first - as per your normal skincare regime - it won’t crease. I also find that it does cover dark circles well. The only thing I can say negatively about this product is that it doesn’t really hide fine lines and/or wrinkles that well. But if you’re mainly using it to hide dark circles, then it does the job without caking on your skin and blends in well if you get the right shade.

Tips: Before applying this product, definitely use moisturiser first! Otherwise it could cake or crease and be too dry on your skin.. When applying the concealer, I start from just below the corner of my eye and then continue underneath the eye until I get to the outer corner. If you find you have applied a little too much, you can dab it with your finger and rub it in a little afterwards. I then use my regular foundation as per normal, and I find the product in combination with my foundation blends in just fine and covers imperfections adequately. If applying mascara, I’d apply that first, then use the under eye concealer, and then your regular foundation over the top.

It stings!

Nice and bright & conceals well & I love the applicator. But it BURNS! I can’t wear it! I have never had a issue with under eye concealers doing this so was sad to realise this one didn’t like my skin (I have normal to oily skin) so I’m not sensitive at all. It did crease & I have used it more then once to properly test it & it irritates my skin immediately. Sorry but this one let me down.

Where's my coverage at?

I have recently become obsessed with concealer after reading a few articles from the BR HQ. I never really thought I needed it that is until I tried it for the first time and tried it the right way too. I have been on a mission to find one that 1. Gives me good coverage, 2. Doesn't sit in my creases under the eyes and 3. Doesn't look powdery once dry.

I went on a trip to my local Farmers and this Revlon Colorstay Undereye Concealer was recommended to me by the makeup consultants. I paid less than the RRP because lucky me on the day it was 25% off Revlon. I paid $24 which I thought was a good deal for concealer from a great brand like Revlon. I was matched with the Light shade.

I love the wind up motion you have to do to get the concealer out of the tube. It means I can get out only what I need and not waste any. The applicator is very soft and kind to the sensitive eye area. The concealer itself is quite creamy and smooth which makes it easy to apply and blend.

Now for my expectations, does it meet them? In short no. 1: The coverage is minimal and looks more like a highlighting cream than a concealer. I could still see my dark circles! 2: It clings to my under eye laugh lines and transforms them from laugh creases to crevices eeww! Last but not least, 3: It doesn't dry powdery but it dries matte almost. I am ok with that because the foundation I use is quite dewy and this looks perfect over it. I ended up using this as a highlighter instead of a concealer. I was an expensive lesson to learn but this concealer definitely isn't for me and doesn't even come close to meeting my expectations.

Tips: Be careful because this rests in your lines and makes them look deeper than they are.

Your average under-eye concealer

I bought this in the shade light/medium so I could also highlight the under eye area. This product spread easily and blended well into the skin and doesn't really crease. However, I found that if I didn't set this with powder it creased a little bit and my mascara would transfer onto the area,

It was okay at doing it's job as it covered my dark circles reasonably well, however given the price and the amount of product you actually get, I will most likely not repurchase.

Tips: set this with some powder so that it doesn't crease

Does the job without drying out my under eye skin

My dark circles have blue undertones, and it's been a struggle finding a non-drying under eye concealer. This one is creamy, light weight, and does a decent job.

The product comes in a tube, with a twist applicator that dispenses the product on a slanted sponge. It's very easy to control the amount of product and the sponge is firm with soft bristles. I prefer to use my ring finger (but only use a light amount, the rest of the product can be saved and left on the sponge tip) to apply to my under eye and dab until I get the desired coverage, rather than using the sponge applicator.

The product is creamy and offers decent coverage and lasts all day until I remove it. My dark circles still show through, so I've recently started using a corrector first, and then applying this concealer on top. It makes a great combo! I love that the concealer doesn't dry out on my skin, but it does set.

The colour range is limited, for me, the light/medium is a perfect match, but I think there are only three or four shades available.

It's available at chemists, but on a pricier side considering I still need to use a corrector underneath. I'd recommend this if you are having trouble finding a concealer that is creamy and non-drying.

Tips: Use your ring finger to apply the product, not the sponge. Dab the product under your eye until you get the coverage you need. It does set into fine lines, so I use a soft brush to blend it out.

Not the best

For starters, Revlon is not the cheapest in NZ. Due to this there is an expectation that the product will work well.

To be honest I was quite disappointed. It wasn't nearly as pigmented as I would have liked but on top of that, it creased on me. I have little lines under my eyes and it settled in them and made my eyes look awful. I found that if I layered it on top of a stick concealer it worked but I shouldn't have to do that in the first place.

The fact there is not much in there and the price tag makes me regret I bought this in the first place. If it was absolutely amazing and was perfect then I wouldn't have regret this purchase as much.

Pricey for the payoff

I found this concealer semi-decent (minus the undereye creasing), however it's so expensive for the amount of product you get! The colour range catered to my skin tone which was a bonus, plus it lasted without fading after a few hours, but I just can't justify the price for the product. I think there's better out there for a lower price.

Tips: The wand is useless, it's just as easy to twist the bottom and swipe it off the applicator with your finger or brush to apply.

Revlon ColorStay Under Eye Concealer

I have a medium shade in this item, and it suits me well ( Im a light/med) I got this for $10 including postage new off facebook, which was great as I wasnt prepared to pay $30 for it. The application is a little weird as the products comes up in beads threw a cloth like top, but glides on very even. I think the formula is medium consistancy and covers ok for a concealer but didnt do that much for my under eye area, it also fell in and highlighted my crows feet. I didnt break out with it, and it wasnt greasy or flaky which was a bonus but it is as it says "natural coverage"
