OPI

I love OPI nail polishes and definitely recommend them, but that said I very seldom buy them full price. Most of the time I get them at outlet shops or the ASB showground sales, and for those prices they are definitely worthwhile. They go on smoothly and last well and of course there are some amazing colours. My favourites are Hopelessly in Love, Dulce de Leche and I am currently wearing Dutch Tulips. I actually love all the fun names they have!

Oh the names!

OPI sure got the marketing right for their brand. Im currently sporting ten fingers worth of 'my chihuahua bites'. The colours are fab and there's a brilliant selection, I've managed to get about 2 weeks out of this polish but I have had to top up and refresh a few nails along the way. I would say they are overpriced but Minot sure anything will have enough staying power unless it's gel. The liquid sands are so much and teenage dream was my favourite a few years ago. Pricey but brilliant colours and such fun names

Tips: Unfortunately some of mine have gone quite gluggy over time and I have ended up having to use some thinner in them and/or cut my losses.. Keep them cool and out of the sun

Sandy as Promised

I have a true love for my fingernails, mainly because they are a beautiful part of me that aren't stretched when I have too much chocolate!! I also have a love of OPI polishes. When there was a sale in town I thought it to be a great opportunity to try something different and this polish is exactly that. At first I got excited this is a truly gorgeous colour and texture when I first wore it I stopped everyone at my work and made them have a look. The guys weren't all that interested but they humoured me anyway. After a few days of it without any chips woohoo! I decided I was going to try to take it off which I was dreading increasingly. It was harder to take off than your regular polish but I got the technique down and although it took longer I still pull it out on special occasions when it will suit my outfit. I love this colour and the texture. This is a must!! from me and my slim nails.

Tips: A nice solid base coat or two made the removal a lot easier second time round!

Love

OPI has a great range of pastel colours which is absolutley amazing because i think pastles look just so good with almost every outfit haha I also love how there are so many colours . I can never leave the shop with only one bottle so I recommend going when you have enough money to buy at least two . Because there is literally a different colour for every outfit you own. They also don't go off that quickly I have one bottle of OPI I've had for like forever and it still lasts just as long and the colour is the same. The only thing that's really annoying is they often chip really easily . So I try to add a new clear top coat every two or three days .

Worth the price

I've been using these for a while now and I honestly love the OPI Nail Lacqeurs. The colors are so vibrant and they stay on for ages if ofcourse you use their base and top coat. I would recommend buying the top and base coat aswell. Alot of nail polishes do chip my nails but these are the total opposite. If you do get a chance, I suggest using the nail strengtheners.

Lives up to the name

OPI does live up to its reputation! The colour is nice and bold and there is a large range of colours as well, I do have an issue with the length of time it lasts for because I do not feel that it lasts as long as it should for the price but the mass of colours available and overall quality makes up for this.

Tips: You definitely do need to use a base and top coat for this just to help with how long it lasts without chipping <3

Green

A glass bottle with a we brush attached to the black lid. Inside this see through bottle is my green nail polish. Icky it smells like all other nail polishes a little sharp with a clear the nostrils chemical stink.

On with a base coat, While that's drying while I shake the bottle to give it a good mix. Out with the wee brush that holds a nice amount of colour, this effortlessly glided up my nail not leaving any brush marks no globs just a nice creamy colour, no translucency with this one coat my nails were covered in colour, in two coats they were the bomb. Didn't take long to dry either as guaranteed soon as I do my nails I have an itch if polish takes to long to dry I make a mess of my finished nails but I find this dries nice and hard. A bit of top coat on this lasted a good week before I had any chipping surprising as I'm pretty rough with my nails.

Short cut green nails with a gloss finish, I've had this polish for a while still no lumping or sticky polish lurking in the bottle it's still a nice texture, A good shake then it's all go. Removes relatively easy with nail polish remover. A nice pigmented nail polish with good coverage that dries well you can't really go wrong.

Tips: Give it a good shake first

Beautiful

I love this deep blood red color. Not too dark and not too light. The consistency is beautiful and easy to apply. The brush is really nice and nail polish doesn't go all over the place when painting . It has a decent stay power and is so joyful to wear. Love it.

Tips: A nice top coat should always be applied to any nail polishes.

First Class Desires

I have recently started gettng into nail polish and have started up a wee collection. And I can proudly say amongst my collection I have a beautiful OPI nail polish in the shade First Class Desires. I picked it up from postie plus for about $10 which I thought was a huge bargain.

It's a beautiful dark purple with shimmery gold specks. It applies absolutely flawlessly. I only need one coat to get my desired look as the pigmentation of this OPI nail polish is incredible! It applies evenly so there's no need to reapply in areas to cover any streakyness.

I find that it dries fairly quickly, compared to my cheap nasty nail polishes so you don't have to sit around for ages waiting for it to dry. We all know how boring and time consuming that can be so it's awesome not to have that problem with this OPI nail polish.

It does last a decent amount of time on my nails especially if I apply a base coat and a top coat. It will start to chip around day 5/6 but that's to be expected and it doesn't bother me too much. On my toes however, it can last upto 2/3 weeks which I find completely odd, perhaps it's because we're constantly using our hands? I'm not too sure but the staying power is rather impressive.

I woule really love to expand my OPI collection as I am thoroughly impressed with my first ever shade. They have such a huge variety of colours which is really awesome to see. There's shades for everyones personal preference, wether you like pastels, glitters, bolds, they pretty much have it all.

OPI - the Brand Taking Over My Polish Collection

OPI - the Brand Taking Over My Polish Collection

I used to go for el cheapo polishes because I didn't want to spend big bucks on a color since it's really difficult to pan off a polish so I would only splurge on nail treatments, base and top coats. Then I started buying some second hand beauty products and discovered what a quality polish is like. It's like your manicure lasting longer, the polish is easier to work with, it's less streaky and needs fewer coats. I used to not thing twice about higher end brands but now when I see second hand Opi polish I don't scroll past it, I look up swatches online. I currently have five colors in my collection and more on the way:

- Tickle My France-y - A cream finish nude mauve. I was thrilled when I saw swatches of this online this was very close to the sort of nude I was looking for.

- Chic From Ears to Tail - A cream finish cool toned light candy pink. This one was a tad streaky but it was easy to even out.

- I Lilly Love You - A clear pink with loads of mostly pink and gold iridescent glitter. I think compared to some other glitter polishes this one is packed with glitter. I use this one over a dark polish and it looks amazing. I'm not a big fan of glitter but if I'm doing a dark color manicure. I'll paint this over the nail I want to be a feature nail.

- Louvre Me Louvre Me Not - A stunning warm red toned purple with a shimmery finish. I love this shade I'm not big on shimmer at the moment but I was sucked in by this color. It's warm toned which suits my skintone but I think it would be gorgeous on any skin color.

Russian Navy - A really dark blackish navy blue with a bit of purple shimmer. This is a really good back ground color for galaxy nails. I bought this because I wanted a really dark color and I had worn black before didn't think it suited me so I use this as an alternative. Looks great on short nails or my toenails.

I have found that some color apply a tad more streaky than others but two coats is enough for good opacity. And even the second hand polish shades that have gotten a bit of use still have a good consistency in comparison to that ones I have that haven't been used at all. The cons of OPI is the price. I want more but adding brand new colors to my collection is expensive. This polish does have good wear time. I cook and wash dishes but I get about 3-4 days before I get chipping. The only reason why I haven't given this more smooches is because I have discovered another brand which lasts much longer on my nails than OPI - Zoya. And while OPI is 3-free, Zoya is 5-free. Despite that I think my OPI collection of polishes will only increase.

Tips: Put a bit of vaseline around the rim of your polish bottle where you screw the top on as that will help keep polish from drying around the top and making the lid stick. I also found these a bit cheaper at Posties than at other retail outlets but the downside is the color selection is more limited at posties.
