Long-lasting and quick drying!

OPI's Liquid Sand polishes are a really cool invention. They have a different texture to any other polish and have really different finishes.

They are a bit trickier to apply due to the formula being very thick, but they dry quicker than all my other polishes and last a LOT longer.

Wear time for these is a week easily, and that's with using my hands day in day out. They don't chip, they only wear signs they show are tip wear over time.

Removal however.. THE HARDEST THING EVER. Seriously though, this polish is practically bomb proof. You need to soak your nails in remover and scrub to get these off, which I find makes my nails dry and a bit peely for a while afterwards. This is the trade off though for such a long wearing polish I suppose!

Tips: Don't ever use these without a basecoat!

So frustrating to get off!

This polish comes in a lovely range of shades and has a wonderful sand effect which i did enjoy. It was easy to apply and i found it was super long lasting.. So long lasting that i couldn't get it off easy however. And I find that frustrating. With kids I have to do my nails fast and I simply dont have the time to scrub and scrub with a cotton pad to get it off! The sand effect was very forgiving however, Im not a smooth nail painter, so i won't be looking for a job as a manicurist any time soon but this hides all my extra lumps and bumps and it looks like they are meant to be there :P Has to be a bonus hehe

Must have for any nail polish enthusiast

Firstly I love anything nail art/polish related, and when opi came out with their liquid sand line i wasnt that interested because I usually like a smooth finish but then I won a bulk lot on trademe and 1 of them was a liquid sand nail polish in the color Pussy galore. Ok the name is pretty gross but the color is a beautiful light pink, I used 2 coats, the colour went on nicely, it was opaque and dried pretty quickly. It stayed on for ages, which is pretty amazing for me because I work in an environment that is not nail polish friendly. They are pretty hard to get off but i usually alternate between this and glitter for work (because they dont chip easily) so im use to the work i put into removing it, some may find it annoying though. overall i highly recommend this colour its so pretty, I have light-med skin tone and i always get compliments when I wear it, although i feel awkward telling them the name of it. Pussy galore, its truly a lovely shade

Mission to Remove

Probably one of the most interesting 'limited edition' products ever.

It has a beautiful effect when applied to your nails - matte but still with a little bit of shine from the glitter in it. I find it does dry a lot quicker than normal polish too. It's super long lasting - like lasts until you choose to remove it long lasting. I did find that sometimes the texture of my nails meant my nails would snag on things, but that's not really a big deal and it wasn't that often either.

If you find your nails split easily or they're weak, this probably isn't the best polish for you, I found this made my nails split after putting it on for the first time in months.

It is a REAL mission to remove, so be prepared to put in a little extra effort in that department. Think glitter polish, but 10 times harder to remove! lol

Sandy Sparkle

I got one of these nail polishes to try as I had heard great things, and the price was right! The lonely shade I have is 'Vesper', - A deep violet color..

Wow this stuff is hardy! It's far tougher wearing than "regular" gloss finish OPI polishes of which I get on average 3 days wear out of, the liquid sand lasts twice as long before noticeable chipping starts happening. And as with glitter polishes it's a bit of a bugger to remove..

The finish is unique as far as i'm aware.. Grainy as would be expected, and matte but with hints of shimmery sparkle where the light hits. 2-3 coats are needed for an opaque finish, and the drying time is average I guess.. Around 10-20 minutes for 2-3 coats.

Another good thing I find with this liquid sand polish is that it hides any roughage of the finger nails. If your tips can get a bit manky at times with layers of nail peeling and flaking, this polish may make you a fine friend as it has for me! Definitely want to get some more of these!

10 pads of remover later?!

I bought this off a BR lovely as my first ever OPI nail polish! Imagine the excitement I was feeling at using my first OPI! Oh the very thrill of it! I didn't pay full price obviously as it was second hand. I have the colour Honey Ryder which is a gold colour with shimmer throughout to give it some pop!

I love that there is a label attached to the bottle that allows me to feel the texture of how it will dry once applied. It does indeed feel like sand has been mixed with nailpolish and put on my nails. It's very rough but lessens once I put my clear coat on. I prefer it with the top coat because it tends to catch on my clothes and chip without it.

The size of the bottle is quite generous but for the RRP price I would expect it to be that big anyway. The brush is not my favorite. It's quite small and skinny but it is long which I prefer for my big un-girly hands. It's far too skinny which means that I have to use more than two swipes to ensure that I get the best coverage I can with minimal effort. It doesn't hold alot of polish on it either which means I have to redip at least once to get enough product for each nail.

The formula is quite thick which is quality to me. It means that I don't have to keep reapplying to get the colour that I expect it to be. It dries pretty fast to my surprise. It was touch dry within three minutes and dry enough to go and do the things I always do within ten minutes without fear of scratching or chipping it easily.

The lasting power is actually quite amazing and just goes to show that money is in this case worth it for the quality you get. I love it all until that is removing it! I used ten pads and around 4 tablespoons of remover to get it all off! The elbow grease it took to remove it was ridiculous! It also left glitter and shards of polish all over the place! I had to vacuum afterwards because it looked gross all over the floor. I was going to score big until it came to removal. This could be considered a good thing, that it's tough wearing but it's actually more irritating that anything and messed up my house! Not a huge fan anymore.

Tips: Get ready to give your arms a work out trying to get it off

Super long lasting

This stuff will not leave your nails, which is a blessing and a curse.

The bottle is like the standard OPI bottle, but with a textured handle. The lacquer applies really well, and it's easy to put on, doesn't require a very steady hand.

When dried, the polish is textured like sand (go figure), which is nice for a change than the normal glossy finish.

Also, if you're the type of person who likes to just leave your polish on for ages - you're in luck! This still will not go away. But good luck when you want to take it off! You'll need a lot of remover and a lot of cotton balls.

Not sure

I have a liquid sand polish in a dark, navy blue colour. It is definitely something to get used to, that's for sure!

I found it felt a little weird. It just wasn't something I was used to - I am used to a smooth gel or matte finish; this is harsh and feels like sand. It is a little strange!

On the plus side it does last a long time without chipping. On the bad side, it is a right pain to remove. You really have to soak your nails on a pad soaked in remover and really hope for the best. It is definitely not a quick removal. So for this reason, I am on the fence.

Tips: Soak cotton pads in nail polish remover and then hold these on each nail for a while to remove the polish more gently than scrubbing!

Not worth the trouble

I picked up a couple of these on sale for a few dollars each, and was interested to try them as they looked quite glittery and pretty in the bottle. However, I found the colours applied a lot more dull and matte than they look, even with multiple coats and a top coat. The texture was fine, it wasn't too lumpy or thick, and the formula seemed to stay on a long time without chipping which was excellent. However, it was almost impossible to remove. I went through heaps of nail polish remover and cotton pads, and when I finally got it off my nails still felt really rough. I usually like OPI, but I don't think I'd ever buy this again, even at the reduced price.

My favourite

I really like OPI's nail polishes, and the Liquid Sand range is my favourite. I prefer a shiny, shimmery finish to that of a matte finish, so I always end up buying the shimmery polishes. That makes the Liquid Sand range perfect for me. It really does go on like liquid sand, but made of glitter. It has great staying power too and lasts on my nails for a long time. My very favourite is the shade, Make Him Mine, which is a natural looking pink colour, but has great sparkle, and it goes on thickly so you do not need to apply more than a couple of coats.

Tips: The glitter in the polish means it has great staying power, however, that also makes it difficult to remove when it does start to wear off. I think it is worth it though.
