I was lucky enough to get this Sally Hansen Big Shiny Top Coat given to me by one of my best friends on BR. I have recently become infatuated with Sally Hansen polishes so this was a perfect accompaniment to my growing collection.
The bottle is amazing! It is a metallic looking glass bottle with the name clearly printed so there is no mistaking. It looks different to the other Sally Hansen range of polishes but that is why I love it so much too. It stands out from the rest and that makes me a happy chappy. The brush connected to the lid is quite long which I love in a brush because it means that it doesn't get lost amongst my big mitts. The bristles are quite scarce and thin but I actually think it makes the brush easier to get a precise stroke.
The one thing I dislike is how thin the formula is. It's quite dribbly and won't stick to the brush very well. I find myself having to dip, and wipe off excess polish far too much. This is just so I don't get it all over my fingers and the table. The good thing about it being thin is that it dries very, very fast. Five minutes flat and I can touch my nails without it damaging the polish.
I think this is a great alternative to the Gel Top Coat that Sally Hansen brought out. The Gel Top Coat flakes my nails but this one doesn't seem to. It doesn't last as long but it still keeps my nails in check for a good week and a half. By this time I get bored and change the colour anyway.
In summary, yes it is worth the money. Yes I would definitely recommend to anyone I know but I do find that it is very thin and messy. Its stay power is great for a non-gel polish and it keeps my nails from flaking.
Sally Hansen Big Shiny Top Coat is Bae for me. First of it has a big fat brush so it covers more of you nail helping you give a nice even layer. Secondly even though this isn't a fast drying top coat it still dries fast, so you won't be feeling hopeless. Thirdly the finish of this to coat gives you a beautiful glossy finish as if you've used gel nail polish. The bottle is a little bigger then most top coats but the sliver packing gives it a edgy look.
Tips: A little goes a long way, it dries to a shinny finish, it can still look wet once it's dry.
