This has become my go to powder foundation. I am not a fan of liquid foundation at all - it never seems to agree with my skin, drying out and looking cakey. This, however, blends well, looks natural and is light to wear.
This does provide a reasonable coverage; medium to full, depending on how you apply it. I am not a fan of heavy makeup so I like a lighter coat. I love that they have such a huge range of shades and that, for once, I could buy a shade of makeup that actually matches my skin tone. It lasts me a long time (almost a year - mind you I don't wear it every single day and I only use it lightly) and I believe it is the best value for money currently.
I like to apply this with a fluffy powder brush rather than a sponge; again the brush blends it nicer and does not leave a heavy coat on my skin. I wear this over a BB cream or, if I am going out or wanting slightly heavier coverage, a small amount of liquid foundation. I usually (when I remember - I can be a bit lazy) finish with a makeup mist spray so that the powder doesn't feel or look dry on days I wear it slightly heavier and this seems to help it last all day.
I will definitely be repurchasing closer to Christmas (as I am travelling overseas and can make a weeee stop at Duty Free).
This was my very first powder foundation and I still love it just as much as I did many moons ago. I’m all about a dewy finish but I’ve always made an exception for this powder because of the lovely matte finish – it’s almost flawless or as I prefer to think it’s almost natural looking. It comes in an opaque black plastic double compact with a sponge in the bottom part and the product at the top with a decent size mirror.
When I first saw it I didn’t think much of it but once applied I couldn’t deny how smooth and flawless my skin looked. Now at the time I was a newbie to the world of makeup so I wasn’t overly confident others would think the same so I was surprised when I went into work and my colleagues commented on how beautiful my skin looked. They were even more surprised than me when I showed them I had powder on.
For application, I use either the sponge (washable) or a flat top kabuki brush for medium to full coverage. I love that this blends so beautifully on the skin to give me a polished finish as if I actually took the time to do my makeup. I have oily skin so admittedly a bit of shine comes through after 4 hours but to me it actually looks somewhat like a healthy shine – if that is even possible – I like to think yes.
One of the high points for me is that it allows my skin to breathe and it doesn’t feel like I have a layer or 2 of makeup. Another reason I love this product is that it actually comes in a shade that works for me – NC43. I don’t have to put a lot of effort into covering my neck and décolletage because it generally looks natural. You can apply this wet but I don’t like it at all; it looked rather streaky, a bit of a mess and I had to work harder to build up the coverage – in saying that I know I don’t have the skill to really manage this so my preference is dry application.
This product will cling to dry spots so if you have dry skin and still want to try this out you may want to actually go in and sample how this will sit on your skin because I had a dry patch on my cheek and it emphasised it more than hide it. Just like my other MAC powders I can pan these within 2 months; it’s a powder I would recommend to those who have combination and oily skin. I’ve convinced my sister to give it a go and she loves the powder, bought one for herself and is ready to purchase her next one – not bad for someone who doesn’t like makeup.
