I bought my first ever LC Velvetine for a Halloween look, and I was worried about transfer and longevity of the lippy.. no one wants it to look worn out after a few drinks or have to constantly touch up.
Well first the packaging: very sleek, cute and girly but not in an unsophisticated way. the cost: well it is up there, but is it worth it... yes... and no. Yes for day to day colours but not for once offs or colours you will only wear now and then.
The lippy: it's a smooth liquid, smells of a hint of vanilla... glides on effortlessly. I was worried being a liquid as I am used to bullets only so thought it would take a bit to get used to but have had no issues applying just the right amount and no bleeds/runs or transfers... just make sure product is dry before you eat/drink or kiss :) It lasted a few hours before I needed to touch up but that was more due to the dark colour and wear showing up more readily.
Removal: a good make up remover is a must especially with the dark shades
Dryness is to be expected with this type of product so make sure you have a good lip balm t the ready and prep those lips before hand... flakes are not a god look.
I have mixed thoughts on this product, I got caught up in all the hype I must admit, I wanted some vixen red lips that didn't budge. What I didn't consider was matte lips and I don't get on much, while it looks great on others I just don't seem to be able to pull it off! I have red velvet and while I adore the colour the formula wasn't really what I expected. It was very watery which made it really hard for me to apply, no matter what I get a stupid amount on my teeth! A little goes a long way so I think you need to apply with a lip brush to get a neat job. Once dry (I feel it takes awhile) it is very long lasting. Overall it was an impulse buy which just doesn't suit my preference. I think I'll stick to the lipsticks in future.
UPDATE: I am not sure if it's because mine has been exposed to the air but the formula has changed slightly, it's a lot easier to apply now, not so watery. So it's not quite as nightmarish to apply anymore which is great!
