Not a bad liquid lippie

I didn't mind this lipstick - it is long lasting and has a good shade range. But it's quite difficult to apply neatly, and is rather expensive.

The company owner is lacking in morals and my dislike of him probably clouds my judgement here, but I think there are better liquid lipsticks from much nice companies (Mellow for example).

I thought I'd be giving this 5/5

I have forever been obsessed with the look of Jeffree Stars makeup. I purchased his eyeshadow palettes before I tried his lipsticks.

I had a few on my wish list but the first shades I did get were 'You. Better. Work.', 'Family Jewels', 'venus Flytrap' and 'Flamboyant'. Four shades form his 2017 summer collection. These 4 shades were so inconsistent in their formulas which lead me to the lower rating. I know that with brighter shades they can be a little streaky and a need a little work to apply but I could never apply 'Venus Flytrap' successfully without it looking dreadful, obviously streaky and patchy and this one was drying for my lips. I even prepped with his sugar scrubs before hand for maximum effort. This shade unfortunately doesn't make a great lippy but works great as a eyeliner!

Two of the other shades were similar in consistency, streaky and a little drying (You. Better. Work and Flamboyant) however Family Jewels not so much. This shade went on beautifully and I had no issues with it at all! It lasted for so long on the lip but I did find a little drying but not as much as the other shades.

This did not stop me from buying more. I thought that maybe the more normal everyday shades would be a little bit different and wouldn't require extra work to apply them.

I purchased the shades 'Androgyny', 'Posh spice', 'Leo', and 'Gemini'. These shades? I loveeeeeee. So easy to apply, lasted well on the lip, and didn't dry my lip out.

I wish the consistency of his liquid lips were all the same but I found they weren't.

Daddy

I picked up my first Jefree star lipstick from Beauty Bliss . It’s a new zealand site that I’ve made a few purchases from . I’ve watched Jefree star produce numerous collections over the years . His products get better as time goes by .

Packaging comes in a clear tube with easy to read labelling. This nude tone colour is a medium brown tone. This consistency is liquid and has no scent .

Application wise it goes on like a dream . Just like Kat Von D liquid lipstick it fades with eating and drinking. Not suitable for dry lips. I honestly think this was overhyped .

There’s cheaper brands that do the same thing , like colorpop , Rimmel , Nyx same job even better and cheaper. I reccomend trying before you buy.

Jeffree Star Liquid Lipstick

I purchased Doll Parts in the limited edition Christmas packaging from Beautylish.

The lipstick comes in a clear round tube with Jeffree's logo printed on it. The tube is good as you can see the colour inside, and also how much product is remaining.

The Doll Parts shade doesn't have any discernible scent, but some of the other shades (particularly the summer shades) have special scents added to them.

The formula is quite thin which helps when applying it with the doe-foot applicator. A little goes a long way!

It has really good staying power but does tend to come off from the centre of my mouth a lot faster than the outside edges of my lips. It's not too drying but I do find that after a few hours it gets a bit crumbly.

My main issue with this lipstick is that the colour on the websites (Jeffree's site as well as Beautylish) show it as being a lot lighter and more doll-pink than the one I received. I've also checked swatches on instagram and mine still seems to be a bit darker and more mauve than it should. I still like the colour and get a lot of compliments when I wear it, but because of this inconsistency I've not bought any more shades from the range.

Jeffree Star Androgyny

When androgyny arrived in my Beautylish lucky bag I wasn't that enthused by it after having heard about all "The Drama" by the creator Jeffree Star, so buying this willingly was probably not going to happen. But since it arrived with the bag I would give it a go.

The look of the tube is supposed to attract the eye with a pink top and clear body, the liquid lipstick colour is easily visible in there with the inside shaped into a U shape rather than following the outside line of the tube. The writing on the tube is in light metallic pink, making them highly identifiable.

The liquid itself felt rather thin in application compared with a normal lipstick. The doe foot applicator is also a little bigger than most other doe foots I have seen, my Revlon matt hd is the only other big applicator I have. The product glides on quickly and easily before drying down matte. Once dry there is minor transfer with the lipstick getting a tacky feel. I found the tackiness was less when compared to a lip gloss and it wasn't a deal breaker for me. I found that this lasted against most things except oil or fat, so touch ups weren't really necessary. It also had a slight drying effect on my lips, again not a deal breaker but something to watch out for.

I am slightly torn on buying more of this brand, if I was to get another in a lucky bag I would wear it but I don't know if I would go and buy this brand intentionally.

My lips are acid

I'm always on the lookout out for a lip colour that actually stays on my lips and unfortunately as much as I loved the colour (gemini) it didn't stay on long. I seem to not have luck buying any of these long wear lippys and my lips erasing them like they are highly immune to it. If anyone has any recommendations please let me know and yes I've tried the old exfoliate and lip balm trick.

Love the colour

So I bought a Jeffree Star Liquid Lipstick for Halloween (I think the colour was Blue Velvet?) Anyway I am really impressed. It is totally worth buying, it dries matte and looks really nice on my lips. The packaging is adorable and doesn't really have much of an odor. The tip of the brush is curved making it easy to apply. The formula is runny, but still really pigmented. My biggest regret is applying more than one layer of this liquid lipstick, because as the night went on at my Halloween party, I began to realise that my lips felt rather clumpy.

Tips: Apply one thin layer of it at a time. Wearing a lip liner underneath definitely helps and builds it up

An easy to wear matte lip

I'm not really a lipstick person as I don't like the maintanence of having to reapply all the time. This is where matte lipsticks fit in really well for me. I don't have to worry about smudging or checking to see if it's faded constantly. The downside is of course getting super dry lips! Jefree lippys though are the least drying mattes I have tried (ok I haven't tried many though!). They are super light weight on and you pretty much can forget you are wearing anything on your lips at all. The downside to it being super comfortable though is that these are not super long lasting. You can drink cold drinks without it coming off but I find coffee makes a little bit come off and pretty much anything you eat takes it off too even if it's not an oily food. Thats a bit of a bummer but I suppose you do get a good few hours with it looking really good.

The packaging on this is nice and compact. I used to not like it as I preferred the longer, slender versions of other brands but I've grown to prefer this style now. I also really like the pink lid with stars of the usual packaging. The limited editions have the same style but different colours. The cap does up securely and kind of clicks into place. Some of these are nicely scented and others have a more chemically smell. I don't notice any taste or smell once on my lips. The doe foot is nice and generally there is enough on the tip to do both my lips perfectly. It is also really easy to get a perfect line but I do like to use a lip liner with the darker shades.

I own androgyny, mannequin, watermelon soda and I'm nude. I have previously owned posh spice and celebrity skin but have sold those as I didn't feel like they suited me. My watermelon soda and I'm nude are still in their boxes as I haven't gotten around to using them yet. I love both the other shades. Androgyny is a gorgeous darker sort of purply brown shade. Mannequin is my favourite. It is my perfect slightly darker nude. I have worn this so many times and have used up around 1/4 of the tube which is a lot for me with being a non lippy wearer! I would definitely repurchase this if I ever did manage to run out.

I would recommend these lipsticks but I do understand there is a lot of controversy surrounding Jefree, I personally don't care too much for him but I love his makeup so it's hard for me to really pick a side. I find it annoying how when shades go out of stock, they can stay out of stock for months before being sold again. So if you see a popular shade, don't think too much on it as it may be a while before you see it again. I do like that he is expanding the shade range too. I would never wear crazy lip colours and most of the collection to begin with was very out there colours, now there is a lot more nudes and wearable shades for all skin colours as well.

Light weight and opaque

I like these liquid lipsticks and I think they’re a good addition to any liquid lipstick addict’s collection. I own 6 shades - 3 nudes and 3 bolds (FYI: none of the adventurous shades) and I find that the formula is generally consistent – lightweight and opaque.

The only thing I found different amongst the shades is the drydown of the product. Androgyny and Masochist dried the fastest and the most evenly, whereas Leo and Unicorn Blood seemed to dry down section by section. It's not a big deal but your lips do look unfinished until it's all the same "finish".

The packaging is aesthetically pleasing to the eyes with its pink lids and rose gold lettering. I'm happy to report that the lettering does not rub off when it comes into contact with things in your bags! I don’t particularly like the fragrance, it reminds me of grapes mixed with an artificial scent. The product lasts a good 2-3 hours without eating or drinking but over time the product fades away in the middle of bottom lip and then leaves a white rim inside my mouth. I must say, “fading” is not as bad as the product “breaking away” or “crumbling” but it still looks bad.

One thing I love about this product is that it's not drying on my lips. When I remove them at the end of the day, it doesn’t feel like my lips have been under a layer of paint; sure my lips aren't feeling plump either but atleast I know that it has been treated well during the day. I bought my lot from Beauty Bliss, Beautylish and Jeffree Star's website and it's a product I'd repurchase.

Too hot

My daughter had it and used it once from her as pink is one of my favourites and for all occasions. It is too dark and bright but the best thing is that it’s crelty free and I’m animal loving person so could recommend anyone. Would love if it comes in other colours too. Stay on for long

Tips: Try with light or black dress
