e.l.f Hypershine

Argh I couldnt get past the sticky texture to give it a chance. I popped it on the wiped it off within a few minutes as just felt really wrong. I only paid $2 on iherb but I wish I didnt as it was quite off putting. The packaging is nice, and the smell was nice and sweet as well as the shade (mine is light pink) but just did not like it at all. sorry

Super Sticky.....

I have a couple of these lip glosses and must say I'm super disappointed by them. The only positive unfortunately that I have to say about this is the affordability of the product. It really is a super cheap product, but then with super cheap also comes super cheap quality.

There were a couple of downsides to this Lip Gloss:

* Its super sticky to the point where my lips literally stick to one another.

* The tube it comes in really isn't user friendly at all and you either get no product or you get too much product. When it finally comes out of the tube it comes out in a massive dob and I then have excess lip gloss that I have to wipe off, which is quite lucky considering its so cheap.

* I didn't particularly find it that shiny either

The scent is pleasant smelling but other than that, really not a fan.

Tips: Great for a beginner or a little child wanting to wear a little something on their lips

Sticky mess

I'm sorry but if I am wearing gloss I don't want it to me a magnet for my hair! I have long hair which I wear out, and living in the windy city, I can not tolerate overly-sticky gloss.

Don't waste your time on this one!

It's such a shame that this lip gloss is such a flop, it could be a smash hit at e.l.f price points! But it's just so sticky, it's difficult to get past that, and the packaging is infuriating - I bought 3 lip glosses and two broke beyond repair - one straight out of the packet, and the other after one application, the whole twist bottom came off and it cant be repaired, leaving the lip gloss stuck in the tube. A simple squeeze tube would be so much better, and I would assume cheaper to manufacture, leaving more money to invest in nicer ingredients for the gloss itself? Just seems really poorly thought out, and a very disappointing product.

why so sticky!?

i'm a sucker for a good gloss buy, my makeup/handbag are full of glosses that have failed to live up to expectations, and this one has been added to the pile. i liked the colour, however it was just so sticky, and it dryed my lips out! i couldnt get past it, i had hair stuck to lips and in the heat it melted and i had awful run off. not a fan.

Tips: just don't buy it. unfortunatley i couldnt find a way to apply that made it any better :(

Stila Dupe.

I had heard that these were a great dupe for Stila's Lip Glazes. I haven't tried those so I can't comment on how the actual product compares, but the packaging is definitely similar. I have these in the colours 'Fairy', 'Vixen' and 'Bubblegum'.

The applicator is a little brush which I am not a massive fan of - I feel it is slightly unhygienic even though I have no evidence to support this. You twist the bottom of the pen up and the product comes up through the brush. I don't like this at all because it is difficult to see how much product you have and it is easy to get too much and make a mess and/or waste product.

These have a very slight pigmentation - more like a hint of colour. They do feel quite sticky and gooey on your lips so I wouldn't recommend them if you dislike sticky glosses.

They give your lips a nice shine and hint of colour, so if you are looking for something subtle and shiny then this might be something you're interested in. I haven't tried these over lipstick but if you wanted a shiny lipstick then these would work well for that.

These don't last that long on my lips (maybe half an hour or so), and do tend to dry my lips out a bit so that is something to be aware of.

Overall I wasn't impressed with these and - despite the cheap price, they aren't something I would repurchase although I will use them as I hate wasting product.

Flirty

I don't really wear lip gloss that often these days, but being a fan of so many ELF products when I heard about the Hypershine Lip Gloss I just had to try it.

I purchased this in the colour 'Flirt', which is a beautiful medium pink. When applied to my lips it gives a sheer 'my lips but better' colour with a subtle shine. I definately wouldn't say the shine is glass-like or that it lives up to the name 'hypershine', it's more of a standard lip gloss shine. It also isn't very long-lasting at all, before you know it the gloss has worn off and you're needing to reapply.

The formula itself is pretty standard, not overly sticky in comparison to over lip glosses and I found it felt quite nice on my lips. It had a faint scent and taste but nothing that distinguishable.

I'm not that much of a fan of the packaging it comes in. While I don't mind the brush, as I found it applied the product well, I'm not a fan of 'twist-up' lip glosses or products where a liquid is pushed through a brush, as I always feel it's harder to get out the right amount of product and you end up wasting a fair bit. Also because the packaging is see-through, it's easy to see how little gloss actually comes in the packaging.

Overall, I'm pretty disapointed with this lip gloss. I've only used it a couple of times as it's performance is so lacking. I won't be repurchasing and even for the low price, I still think there's better alternatives that you'd be better putting the money towards.

Tips: Use this to give a glossy finish to lip stains.

Nice gloss to put over lipstick

I have this gloss in the shade fairy, and love to pop it on quickly before rushing out the door, or over my lighter shades of lippy for that extra shine. It does make my lips feel soft and moisturised, but it doesn't last for hours as stated. This product was one of the first elf products I purchased, and doesn't get reached for as often as some of my other glosses. I love the nice subtle colour this gloss gives my lips for those natural days, and it really makes my lips pop when i apply it over lippy. You don't get much in the tube, and for $3 you are getting what you pay for. I have bought more of these and have gifted them to some of my younger cousins. They are perfect for beginners, or those who like subtle lip colours/gloss.

Not for me :)

I found these so sticky! If you're okay that then go for these because they're super affordable :) But for me, it drove me insane. Also, they are not very good regarding pigmentation. If you're just looking for a simple glossy look I would recommend these <3

Far better glosses out there

I remember receiving one of these ELF lip glosses from my dad when he came back from Australia and brought me a bulk lot of ELF items. I remember the twist function on mine was awful, you had to twist it heaps to get any product and then it all comes out at once. It was an awful, cheap and sticky gloss that felt very tacky when worn on the lips. It did have a nice scent to it though.

Tips: Twist slowly
