In a compact plastic tub L’Oreal claims some enticing qualities for me including: broad spectrum SPF, hydrating, up to 24 hr, radiant finish & having a air light texture. I usually would be drawn but with being Pro-Glow too I’d give it a miss....I have been proven wrong. I would be concerned about the thin nature settling into my fine lines but it didn’t any more than any other foundation.
I am not a lover of “glow”, I do prefer matt. I can describe the glow as more natural which has been a refreshing look during these hot days so am 100% proven wrong. I see they have a matt version in the line too so will try that one during the cooler months.
It complimented the L’Oreal Revitalift Laser X3 Serum which I use as a primer.
During weekend just one layer with just mascara and lip gloss, looked so casual but photo happy. Weekday two layers & a little more time with blush etc... Was surprised too how it gave me that great in-between look, again lasted fine for the day.
I was also delighted at how easy it was to apply down jaw line with no streaking etc...
I wouldn’t describe it as air light but more on the thin side & was surprised that I could apply with my finger tips. It didn’t come out of the tube too quickly (which I thought it might be quite thin). Absorbed very quickly into skin and a little went a long way. I did think the tube seemed small but looking at some of my other foundations 30ml is standard. This packaging is simple and slim, no pump so I’ll be able to utilise every last drop. A great take away size....sometimes it’s just the simple things that get my tick (so annoying with larger glass bottles when going away).
Wouldn’t work for an evening look but happy to have it in my cupboard. Especially quick and easy to pop on if you are having one of those “rush out quickly” mornings.
Thanks BeautyReview for sending review my way, I am especially enjoying L’Oreal at the moment and find the table breakdown on back of their packaging quite handy. It indicates Finish, Wear time, Coverage and Texture.
I am light/fair skinned, it is usually dry and I get occasional dry and flaky patches.
I got the colour 202 Creamy Natural and although it was the best colour match (after checking out the colour range at Farmers), I found that this shade looked slightly grey after applying it on to my face. However, after applying concealer and bronzer, the greyness was less noticeable.
The formula was very runny and blended well into my skin. The packaging recommends using a rolling motion so I tried using my fingers, and a damp beauty blender and found that a damp beauty blender worked the best for me as it gave the most natural and even finish and also dries to the touch. The coverage is buildable but I'd say more towards the light end.
On the skin, the foundation felt very light, which I really liked. The finish to look quite dewy and natural. It isn't quite highlighter-level glow but nice for everyday use. I found that because my skin can be quite dry, I could get away with not using a setting powder and/or setting spray but using them helped a the foundation last a bit longer throughout the day. I can't be sure if it would last 24 hours, but for a normal 8-10 hour day, it held up for me.
In terms of its hydrating effect, I still found that I preferred to wear a light moisturiser underneath. I had a dry patch on my cheek while testing this and I was very impressed that it did not emphasise the flakiness, especially after applying and setting my make up. At the end of my day, the area did start to get a little dry but overall, I couldn't really tell. I also haven't had any issues with breakouts so far.
The packaging nice and simple, the bottle is nice and slim. The bottle says to shake well but because the formula is so runny, it does tend to leak out into the lid - regardless of whether it is shaken or not, so that when you open the lid the end is is covered in foundation. This means it can be a little messy if left on the table with the lid off.
Tips: Using a damp beauty blender and a rolling/dabbing motion helps when trying to build up coverage.
