I like these liquid lipsticks and I think they’re a good addition to any liquid lipstick addict’s collection. I own 6 shades - 3 nudes and 3 bolds (FYI: none of the adventurous shades) and I find that the formula is generally consistent – lightweight and opaque.
The only thing I found different amongst the shades is the drydown of the product. Androgyny and Masochist dried the fastest and the most evenly, whereas Leo and Unicorn Blood seemed to dry down section by section. It's not a big deal but your lips do look unfinished until it's all the same "finish".
The packaging is aesthetically pleasing to the eyes with its pink lids and rose gold lettering. I'm happy to report that the lettering does not rub off when it comes into contact with things in your bags! I don’t particularly like the fragrance, it reminds me of grapes mixed with an artificial scent. The product lasts a good 2-3 hours without eating or drinking but over time the product fades away in the middle of bottom lip and then leaves a white rim inside my mouth. I must say, “fading” is not as bad as the product “breaking away” or “crumbling” but it still looks bad.
One thing I love about this product is that it's not drying on my lips. When I remove them at the end of the day, it doesn’t feel like my lips have been under a layer of paint; sure my lips aren't feeling plump either but atleast I know that it has been treated well during the day. I bought my lot from Beauty Bliss, Beautylish and Jeffree Star's website and it's a product I'd repurchase.
I'm not really a lipstick person as I don't like the maintanence of having to reapply all the time. This is where matte lipsticks fit in really well for me. I don't have to worry about smudging or checking to see if it's faded constantly. The downside is of course getting super dry lips! Jefree lippys though are the least drying mattes I have tried (ok I haven't tried many though!). They are super light weight on and you pretty much can forget you are wearing anything on your lips at all. The downside to it being super comfortable though is that these are not super long lasting. You can drink cold drinks without it coming off but I find coffee makes a little bit come off and pretty much anything you eat takes it off too even if it's not an oily food. Thats a bit of a bummer but I suppose you do get a good few hours with it looking really good.
The packaging on this is nice and compact. I used to not like it as I preferred the longer, slender versions of other brands but I've grown to prefer this style now. I also really like the pink lid with stars of the usual packaging. The limited editions have the same style but different colours. The cap does up securely and kind of clicks into place. Some of these are nicely scented and others have a more chemically smell. I don't notice any taste or smell once on my lips. The doe foot is nice and generally there is enough on the tip to do both my lips perfectly. It is also really easy to get a perfect line but I do like to use a lip liner with the darker shades.
I own androgyny, mannequin, watermelon soda and I'm nude. I have previously owned posh spice and celebrity skin but have sold those as I didn't feel like they suited me. My watermelon soda and I'm nude are still in their boxes as I haven't gotten around to using them yet. I love both the other shades. Androgyny is a gorgeous darker sort of purply brown shade. Mannequin is my favourite. It is my perfect slightly darker nude. I have worn this so many times and have used up around 1/4 of the tube which is a lot for me with being a non lippy wearer! I would definitely repurchase this if I ever did manage to run out.
I would recommend these lipsticks but I do understand there is a lot of controversy surrounding Jefree, I personally don't care too much for him but I love his makeup so it's hard for me to really pick a side. I find it annoying how when shades go out of stock, they can stay out of stock for months before being sold again. So if you see a popular shade, don't think too much on it as it may be a while before you see it again. I do like that he is expanding the shade range too. I would never wear crazy lip colours and most of the collection to begin with was very out there colours, now there is a lot more nudes and wearable shades for all skin colours as well.
