Maybelline Define-a-lash Mascara Review

I have used this mascara for years with no problems and will keep using it. The packaging is awesome my favorite colour pink it has a small curved brush that works really well both top and bottom lashes. I find that two coats is enough coverage and length for me. It is easy and fast to apply and not clumpy is waterproof and it stays put all day. Mine is very black but it is more soft black in colour it looks great and is good value for money.

I only heard of this mascara when Maybelline had a competition and gave a few away, in which I received one :)

Now I was pretty excited when I got this product after reading up on it I had I guess high expectations that once using this product I was going to have long defined lashes. I did most certainly end up with darker looking lashes but I wouldn't say they were "defined" or "longer" If anything I found that they looked quite thick.

when first using the Mascara I opened the wee pink screw top lid and pulled out the stick which was pink and had a flexi tip, not too flexi. the Mascara itself seemed a little thick compared to a previous Mascara I was using at the time. When applying Mascara I generally do two "coats" but for my first application with this product I tried just the one, and to start off with I thought wow yip I see the difference, my eye lashes stood out they were darker which made them look thick but they didn't look defined or longer. I let the first coat dry (a big no, no with this product!) and went to apply the second coat, Big mistake! My eyelashes ended up looking clumpy and quite tacky :(

With this product I recommend you use the one coat or apply two coats one after the other to save the clumpy tacky look :)

Now I do still use this product its not bad, it just didn't do what I would of hoped it would. If I'm doing my makeup for a everyday wear about home this is my go to for darker looking lashes :)

The wee tube is sleek and pretty in pink, fits perfectly In the handbag :)

I'm unsure of the retail price as I haven't actually purchased one myself, but I have seen them on the shelf at supermarkets so easily found xx

Maybelline are usually my go-to for mascaras but this one just didn't seem to do much for me. I did like the texture of the formula, I thought it was a bit thinner than what I'm used to and worked well with the brush giving even coverage & definition without clumping. I didn't notice any difference in length but my lashes are naturally on the longer side so that may have something to do with it? I like this for my bottom lashes but I'm not sure I'd repurchase it simply for the fact there are mascaras in the same price range that I feel work better than Define-a-Lash for top & bottom lashes.

I got this off a website that was giving away these for free as a sample if you signed up. Just like anything free, i was excited to give this a try.

This product comes in a skinny, attractive pink tube (i think that's one of the big reasons why i liked it so much, haha). The applicator is plastic, instead of a brush. I never was really interested in mascaras with plastic applicators as i always found that brush applicators always do a better job. But i did fall in love with this product pretty quickly!!

The formulas is smooth, and quite thin. I do like this more as i find adding layers on to your lashes creates a better effect rather than a thick textured mascara. Because it does have a plastic applicator, it does do quite a good job of defining your lashes even with multiple layers.

I like this product because i hate trying to remove mascara, but this comes off very easily with make up remover which i find very handy.

One thing i don't really like is it does sort of have a tinge of weird chemically smell to it. Not a smell you will notice when you a wearing it but you can definitely smell it when applying. From past experiences with other brands of make up, some smells randomly pop up in certain batches, so it could have just been my batch.

Overall, i do think this is a great mascara for everyday wear, and i would definitely recommend it to friends.

The packaging of this mascara I love, the colour, the sleekness is really great but as for the mascara itself it is a bit hit and miss, I found the wand was really flexible which made it hard to not get it everywhere if it had been a bit more stiff then it may of worked perfectly. I did need a fear few coats to get my lashes to stand out, I think due to the formula being quite thin, so would only use this as an under or over coat not on its own as my lashes are quite scarce and light. I think this would be a good for those just getting into make up or as a quick touch up mascara.

This mascara is pretty much middle of the range for me, it does make your lashes seem longer and separates each lash nicely but it does not make them fuller, great for people who don't like thick lashes. I however love the false lash thick look. Great for day wear and switch to a false lash mascara for the night. It is good as it doesn't clog up your lashes, it keeps them nice a spread apart.

Overall it does what it says, "define a lash" so if thats what you want then its perfect for you!

This mascara lengthen lashes very nicely. Gives them a great natural look to make your lashes look naturally long without the appearance of mass amounts of makeup. If you want your mascara to make your lashes appear thick, then this mascara probably isn't for you.

i really like this mascara because it actually lengthens my lashes, i already have thick voluminous lashes but they are very short so i struggle to find a mascara that does what i want it too but this mascara definitely does!

This mascara may not be for you if you're after giant, va-va-voom, look-at-me lashes, however if you like a simple, well-defined look for your eyelashes then you're in luck! This product works well at separating and defining each individual lash well adding some length. It doesn't give you any volume or much cur though, but I find it great for when you want a more laid-back makeup look.
