Tips: Wear across your eyelid close to your lashes,it stays on all day,
I picked this up in Australia recently for a few dollars in a special, and as I'm a big fan of the matte lippy in the same range I was keen to see if it could double as an eye and lipliner. It can, quite successfully.
The Maybelline Colour Show Crayon Khol eyeliners come in the standard 'sharpenable' pencil format. The majority of the pencil is in the colour of the shade of the product, with black and white accents and a black cap. The pencils are wooden.
I have this in 310, 'Magenta Magic' which is a very bright raspberry pink with a matte finish. I use this as part of an eye look and it can work on upper (best on the outer edges) or lower lashes - it looks great when used to border tightlined black lower lash eyeliner.
As a lipliner it sets the edges of your lips well and stops product bleed.
The pencil lead is slightly harder than I prefer, but still applies relatively easily and doesn't drag or hurt.
On both lips and eyes it lasts all day, and is removed easily enough with eye makeup remover / micellar water.
I'm really keen to search out other shades in this range as the pigmentation and how long the colour lasts are really good
For years I always bought black eyeliner thinking that is what made my eyes look nice but that was until I made the wise decision to try another colour in the great range they now have.
The colour I now love is Matita Occhi - "Sparkle Grey" and this is made in Brazil.
For me this gives me a more natural look than using the black eyeliner and yet it stills makes my eyes pop and that is the look I want to achieve. The colour I feel is really pretty and compliments different eye shadows I use. As with all eyeliners you can apply this as finely or thickly as you like. It is easy to apply and glides across nicely to give you a good application. I have not found this to smudge and removing it is easy with either make-up wipes or make-up remover cream. This is a good quality eyeliner with an affordable price tag.
Tips: I personally love this colour so look out for it on special and see if a change of colour would suit your style and if not the sparkle grey then they have other great colour choices to choose from.
I received one of these as part of a prize pack, in the shade Magic Magenta- A bright fushia/ hot pink.. Now not to be ungrateful but this color as an eye-liner/shadow? My first thought when I looked at it was what the hell am I supposed to do with this? I'm not opposed to pink eye shadow and have done it on occasion but THIS pink is so intense. I'd be more inclined to use it as a lip color, it functions perfectly fine as a dry matte lip color. Although if I use it sparingly as a shadow and smudge it right out with a shimmerly pearl tones it down and looks nice.
It's a shame I didn't get this crayon in a more wearable/ versatile color as the quality is great. Highly pigmented, creamy and glides super smoothly. It's also waterproof, standing in the shower with the water running over my face this stuff doesn't budge although you can smudge it with ease to blend. I'm tempted to get another one of these in a color I would wear more often, despite my lack of love for my hot pink color it's great, exactly how I would desire an eye crayon to function.
I love bright coloured eyeliners. In this range the Turquoise Flash was my favourite, although I have yet to try the Magenta Magic which looks quite cool too.
The Maybelline Color Show Crayon Kohl is your standard kohl crayon or pencil in shape. What makes it special is the range of colours that are available. The finish on these pencils is strong and bold and lasts all day, which is essential in an eyeliner.
In terms of applying it they can drag and catch slightly, but overall move smoothly across the lid and very smoothly on the water line. The give a medium thickness line but that can be increased or decreased with technique.
I'm keen to try the Magenta Magic but will wait for it to come on special as I doubt I'll wear it much. However for colours I do wear regularly I think they're a great affordable option. I picked mine up for $12.
I also tried the suggestion of 3 colours layered on top of each other, all on the lid it looks a bit much, but one under the eye, one on the water line and one on the top lid looks quite cool.
