Hyper Easy - It's all in the name

I've always adored the instant easy glamour look a good liquid eyeliner gives to the wearer, but I've never been one who found applying it all that easy. So I was excited, and a little apprehensive, to be chosen to trial this eyeliner and put those lack of skills to the test.

Immediately upon opening the box, it was obvious by the hexagonal shape to the pen that a lot of thought had gone into the design. The grip is superior to liquid liners of the past in that it is easy to hold and manipulate, making for a nice, steady hand. The brush tip has a lovely fine point to it, making it simple to apply a thin line close to the edges of the lashes. A slightly firmer application means a thicker line. Once or twice, I got too close to my lash line and poked myself in the eye instead, but it did have the unintended end result of finding out there was no sting or reaction to the formulation. Bonus!

The lid closes with a definite click and needs a firm hand. You will want to be sure you've closed it properly, otherwise, it'll ping off and be across the basin before you know it. But it has a nice, tight seal, keeping the pen moist and shapely for easy use.

The formulation is quick-drying and long-lasting, just as it promises, and I was very impressed with the line not coming off until it was removed with make-up remover tissues. Very happy with this.

Tips: Unless you're a pro at liquid eye liners, have a dampened cotton bud handy to fix whoopsies as the formulation dries quickly.

Glides like a dream!

I was pretty dubious about whether this eyeliner would actually be easier to put on. I’ve tried lots of eyeliners and I’m just really bad at applying them! Well this one is hands down easier than any others I’ve tried. It doesn’t skip or wobble and is just so easy to use well. The wee black tube is sleek and shaped well to fit in your hand. My one complaint is that it’s very black. It would be great if it came in other colours, like a natural brown. Overall, I’d totally recommend this brand if you have trouble applying eyeliner pencil. You’ll never look back!

Fine tip eyeliner. Great for all eye shapes

I usually shy away from liquid liner and doing a winged look as I’m not very steady with my hands. But the fine tip on this eyeliner was really helpful as it gave me more room to fix this a build up thickness.

This eyeliner does dry matte and doesn’t smudge! It lives up to that. I have slightly hooded eyelids and it didn’t transfer at all. But I wouldn’t say the colour is intense. It does take a little bit to get it dark black. I don’t mind that as I prefer a more subtle look.

I would say this is great for people who aren’t confident with applying liquid eyeliner.

Tips: Be very careful putting the lid on. If you knock/damage the bristles it’s very difficult to reshape the tip and will make the product Not work as well

Maybelline Liquid Eyeliner

This eyeliner is like a pen with a hexagonal shape for a good grip. The liquid is jet black and once dry stays put so long as you don't rub it then it can flake a bit. You can get right up to your lash line with minimal drag and get a tidy fine line. The flexi brush tip could be a bit bigger for a thicker line though you can add more for the look you want to achieve. I prefer a stiffer brush but that's my personal preference. If you make a mistake it's easy to touch up or correct.

Tips: This eyeliner would be ideal with false lashes.

Rich and long lasting

I’ve tried so many liquid eyeliners recently as I’ve been trying to find one that matches my favourite Stila one as I’m sick of paying so much for it. Over the past week I’ve literally tried 2 new ones and this one is exactly what I’ve been looking for. I have quite watery eyes and struggle with my liner running. This liner goes on easily and looks exactly the same at the end of the day as it did when I’d applied it. I even had a sleep today and it hasn’t budged. It delivered enough colour so I wasn’t having to keep applying more as I’ve found is what normally ruins the look. This is definitely my new favourite eyeliner and I can’t recommend it enough, especially to people that struggle with application as it doesn’t bleed, transfer and it’s incredibly easy to apply.

Thanks for your review - I have struggled to replace my Za eye liner. I finally found the Maybelline Hypersharp liner which I like and I'd love to try this as well.

Perfect for a Beginner and someone Advanced

(Hands clapping)Maybelline well done! If you love eye liner you'll love this product! Also this will be a perfect product for someone to learn with.

This product has it all! The Design is a beautiful hexagon (6 sides) shape, easy to hold and eye-catching.

It's really hard to find a real Pitch Black colour and this product is 100% Pitch Black! It glides over the skin with ease, it doesn't skip and is not patchy, the tip is very flexible, you have enough time to work with it and fix mistakes. You can easily make it a thin line or a thick line by increasing or decreasing the pressure that you use. If you need more liner just shake the pen; inside is a ball that moves the product to the tip.

I tested this a few different ways: - First test I applied the liner over eyeshadow vs no eyeshadow. On both eyes the liner went on smooth, didn't skip, didn't get patchy and stayed Pitch Black. It didn't sting when it got into my eye.

-Second test is the sweat test; while being applied over eyeshadow and on a no shadow lid; I worked out, did labour around my property and the eyeliner didn't budge (it doesn't claim to) but I tested it anyway.

-Third test was it easy to smudge? Once dry it didn't move until I washed in off with warm water or makeup remover.

-Fourth Test was it easy to remove? It only came off completely if I used warm water and a makeup cloth or makeup remover.

A fantastic product! Highly recommend =)

Tips: -Do a test patch first. -Perfect for beginner and advanced. -If you need more liner just shake the pen up and down (there is a ball inside to move protect down the pen. -It doesn't hurt if it does in your eyes. -For storage: keep your pen lid downwards not up towards the roof.

I’m really enjoying this

Thanks to Beauty review for sending me this to review.

First impressions of this product are really good. It has a slimline octagonal barrel with nice font and detailing. The cap is lightly sprung, so gives a little feedback when replacing. It has a brush tip which is really finely pointed, and gives a good, smooth application.

This product has a really good, opaque black from one swipe, and gives a really precise line and wing. I didn’t find that it skipped on my lids (which are a little loose and prone to skipping at the lash line). This is a pretty smudge-proof loner once dry (which doesn’t take long!), but it comes off reasonably well with micellar water or my evening double cleanse.

I didn’t find it the easiest to do a more dramatic, filled in wing, as the brush was a little too fine for me to do this easily, and it will be interesting to see how the brush holds its shape after use, and whether I do my usual trick of wrecking it on the cap when I’m in a rush!

Overall, it depends on the retail price-point, but I’d definitely buy again for a daily wear liner.

Liquid Liner for Learners

First things first, I'm not the most advanced liquid liner user - I've mostly stuck with pencil and gel liners and have only recently been trying to learn how to use liquid liners adequately. Needless to say, I was stoked when this Maybelline Hyper Easy Liquid Liner popped up to be reviewed; promising an easy and stable application.

To be honest, the first day I tried to use it was a mess (I'm not sure if it was just because it was brand new). I swatched a bit on my hand and the pigment and line looked great, went to try it on my eyelids and became a dripping raccoon eye. After swiping it off with some makeup remover, it was very easy to take off which was a plus, I gave up for the day and used a pencil. The following day, I gave it another go and the application was great and easy and the following days have all been progressively easier.

The hexagonal design of the pen does make it incredibly easy to hold in place, so you don't have to worry about it slipping and ruining your line and it's a nice thin line that you can easily widen as preferred. The pigment is very black and dark and dries quickly so you don't have to wait unlike some liquid liners I've tried which can be quite watery. The liner also stays on really well throughout the day - I work an outdoors, physical job, and don't feel the need to reapply. The design of the pen is nice and slim as well, making it easy to carry around and won't take up too much space in a makeup bag or drawer. Overall, it's a great Maybelline product and perfect to use for beginners to advanced!

Tips: Potentially give the product a day to sit after first use and see if the consistency changes - my first use seemed quite watery but the second and sub-sequential days have not had any issues.

I'm a convert

Ok, so I'm seriously impressed with Maybelline's Hyper Easy Liquid Eyeliner. I've tried countless brands and types of eyeliner over the years (I love eyeliner:)), and I always, always return to my absolute favourite, Revlon's Colorstay Liquid Eyeliner. But I think I've just been converted. The Hyper Easy liner is simply amazing. First off, the applicator tip is brilliant. It's quite firm overall, which is great for perfect control, but the very end of it forms a sort of soft, dense-brush point that means I barely feel it on my skin, yet it applies the colour beautifully. It's fine enough to allow for a clean, elegant line along the lashline, or you can just add a few more strokes to simply and quickly create great flicks or cats eyes. Secondly, the product itself is great; the consistency is like a light cream, I'd say, so not too thick and not too runny. You get this smooth, creamy, even application every time. The pigment is very dense and dark too, so one pass is enough (great for busy mornings), and there's no shine or sparkle. A lot of eyeliners make my eyes sting, and I've had no issues with this formula at all. It feels gentle and light on. And on me (I have dry skin and don't wear lid primer) it lasts well. One night I did the 'going-to-bed-without-cleaning-off-my-eyeliner' test, and the next morning the liner still looked perfect, with just maybe a hint of shadow transferred to my lower lids. It didn't budge when I washed my face in the evening either, so it seems somewhat water-resistant, but I found it quick and simple to remove with a cotton bud dipped in Micellar; no rubbing required. (I tried using just a water-moistened cotton bud too, which did remove it, but only after some rubbing back and forth, which I don't like to do.) Just a note: If you rub your eyes a lot during the day, the Hyper Easy will come off, so its longevity isn't as impressive as the Revlon Colorstay. However, after a full day of wear, I have noticed that my Revlon can start to get tiny flakes of product coming off, making the clean line look a little crumbly at the edges, whereas the Maybelline seems to retain its creamy, smooth finish – as long as you don't rub at your eyes! Re packaging, the pen is hexagonal, which doesn't make much difference to me in terms of use, but I do like that it doesn't roll away when I put it down on the vanity top. The lid needs a solid push to click it closed, but that's probably a good thing, ensuring a good seal. It's also a close fit around the tip, so you do need to take a bit of care to centre the tip as you put the lid on so you don't damage the tip. I don't know how long the pen will last, having used it for just 10 days, and this would be my one concern; I've used liquid pens before and they seemed to run out quite quickly compared to the dip-pot type ones. But the price is reasonable ($15-$18) and given all the positives, I will definitely be buying this from now on. Sorry, Revlon!

Tips: When applying the liner, I have a moistened cotton bud ready in case of slip-ups, as it's easy to whip away uneven edges or flicks before the liner dries fully. No makeup remover required!

Just... WOW!

I’m SO happy I was chosen for this trial team as I would never have tried this otherwise. I prefer to stick with the products I know, and don’t usually experiment with other brands. I’m definitely one of those people who orders the exact same thing every time I go to McDonald’s. But back to the eyeliner! It comes in simple packaging, easy instructions on the back along with some info about what the product does. Sometimes you really have to wrestle the product out of its packaging, but not in this case - no problems getting it out. What I immediately noticed was how easy the pen is to hold due to its hexagonal shape, this made it extremely easy to apply in a nice even line. I applied the eyeliner in the morning to see how it would last all day. I have quite hooded/sunken eyelids so what usually happens by the end of the day is that my eyeliner has smudged all over the top lid, giving me a deranged smokey eye that I never asked for. Anyway, I didn’t hold out much hope for this product because it was so liquidy and thick. Nevertheless I found it very easy to apply a lovely even line that was neither too thin nor too thick, and it did dry incredibly fast. I’ll be honest, I forgot it was there. I kept catching myself rubbing an eye, and I took a really hot and steamy bath just before dinner, I even splashed water on my face to wash away the sweat from all the steam. Now, while the rest of my makeup had faded away after all that, I was genuinely impressed and shocked that the lines I had applied so much earlier in the day were still neatly in place, just as black and solid as they were from the start. And do you know what? Not a single shadow of eyeliner on my top lids. No deranged smokey eyes. The eyeliner is also very easy to remove. I use the Essano Micellar Rosewater makeup remover, and it honestly just came off without rubbing. Surprising considering how it stayed in place so well all day.

I’ll probably never try another eyeliner again considering how impressed I am with this eyeliner. But let’s look at the product claims: Up to 24-hour wear - I didn’t wear this eyeliner for 24 hours but certainly believe that this claim can hold up! Waterproof - I’ll say! I mean, I don’t know how well this eyeliner will hold up if I went for a proper dip in the ocean or the local pools, but it definitely survived a 40 minute steaming bath and splash in the face. Smudge resistant - Definitely! Number one favourite thing about this liner is that it didn’t smudge or transfer to my upper eyelids. Easy lines - Pretty easy application due to the hexagonal shape of the pen, and the large, soft flex brush tip. Smooth glide - Yeah man. Liquid eyeliner is my fave for this very reason. Just one easy fluid motion to achieve a great standout line. No skipping - Yeah, no skipping whatsoever! Just really simple and easy application with great results!

Love, love, LOVE! Thank you, Beauty Review!

Tips: I always start applying my eyeliner to the outer eye, and build the line inwards, getting thinner as I go. I find this the easiest way to get a great flick and swish eye-line.
