What is it?

Highly pigmented lips are the look of the moment, and this lip cream takes it to the next level with its beautiful matte finish! The creamy long-wear formula glides on easily with its doe foot applicator, finishing to a velvety matte look with intense, full coverage colour payoff. Perfect for when you want lasting, matte colour that moves with your lips without flaking.

Time for a change from gloss! It applies creamy, lasts all day and finishes with a soft suede look.A matte lip cream that moves with your lips so you don’t have to worry about caking and flaking.

My favorite long lasting Lipstick

This really is my favorite long last lipstick. I currently have it in a Hot pink shade and a nude called Pa-ree.

What I love the most is that out of all my liquid to matte lipsticks this one is the only one I find to actually be non-transferable. I can kiss the back of my hand and it doesn't leave any marks and it will be there at the end of the day. I will only see just a light brush of colour when im eating like a sandwich - so that makes this a perfect option for dinner or lunch dates.

Another thing I really like about this product is the scent. Im a huge fan of nice smelling lippies (not everyone is I know) and to me this smells like hubba bubba, I just want to eat it.

As for the texture it do find it rather tacky during the original application until it dries down to a matte then most of the tackiness goes away, but you can definitely feel it on your lips. It doesn't flake or pill-up which is great as this is always a fear of mine when wearing bright lipstick.

In terms of colour pay off I do find my nude shade more even than my hot pink and find the coverage comparable to my NYX soft matte cream which is almost powdery looking sometimes, but the good news is that it is buildable.

Over all im in love with this lipstick and plan on getting more!

Tips: Use a good lip scrub before application to get the best results.

Affordable with staying power

I have the purple shade at the moment but after using it a few times, I'm definitely going to be buying more!

I initially bought two as gifts for people and an extra for myself since they were on a 'buy two get a third free' special at Farmers a while ago.

Initial reaction, was that the formula is a little on the thicker side but the smell is delicious! Like that Japanese candy grape smell.

It applies very easy but the wand makes it a little difficult to make it precise, especially given the colours are so bold you want to make sure it's perfect.

It lasts a little while, but I wouldn't say it's the longest lasting lip colour I've got, but it does stay pretty well for what is essentially a lip gloss. And it does dry matte but goes a little on the tacky side, which I don't mind at all.

I also wore this over a purple lipstick to see what it looked like and it definitely made my lips look uber purple!

So overall I'm pretty pleased with this, and I will definitely repurchase.

Ooooh interesting idea applying it overtop of another lipstick. I think I'll have to buy the purple shade and try this out with my own purple lippy :)

Long lasting cherry reds

I got this lovely lippy for xmas and let me tell you the colour (Ny-CEE) is to die for!! It makes my heart beat faster and slower at the same time and creates butterflies in my tummy!

I love that the applicator is like a lip gloss wand making it far easier to apply and get a perfect shape without colouring outside the lines. The smell is oh so yummy, reminds me of lollies almost. It makes it so much more inviting to wear and I am sure I get looks from sniffing my lips making it look like I'm puckering up when I feel the need.

It really does have staying power when kissing and even eating and drinking. I am convinced that I have found a lippy that will last a few hours and for a great price.

One con that I found was it dries and makes my lips feel flaky and dry. I applied some clear gloss and hello wet look! It looks one hundred times better as a wet look. I wish I could upload a photo because I am in love!

I am now on a mission to acquire all the colours that float my boat so that I may be set for every outfit and mood also some more clear gloss. :D

Tips: Use gloss over the top because it dries a tad flaky

Better Than Lime Crime?

I recently broke my no-spend (oops!) and decided to purchase this in the shade Par-ee after the whole hype over Kylie Jenner has died down somewhat and it was actually in stock!

You get about as much, if not slightly more product in a tube than our trusty old Velvetines.. I'm not sure if I should be comparative but I think I'll make an exception to be on this review. It's half the price, so what makes the Velvetine better than the Velourlips?

The packaging: Not quite as cute, but it does the job and it doesn't look cheap. The wand is about the same size as the Velvetine, but it holds more product. Something I like more because with the Velvetine I never have enough product on my wand.

Formula: Velourlips are sticky, but not gloss sticky. It's something I don't particularly like because I'm not a lipgloss fan. They do dry matte though. They smell quite nice, like tutti-fruity.

Drying & Lasting Power: It dries faster than the Velvetines, and I find that the lasting power is longer when eating or drinking. It also doesn't make little rumples like the Velvetines do, so you can touch it up too.

Which one would I rather buy? For the price & functionality - definitely the Australis. But for the splurge, cuteness factor I'd buy LC. To be honest though, Australis does have more colours and they're more appealing to me than the Lime Crime ones.

Tips: Apply from the middle of your lips outwards to avoid having too much product in the corners of your lips. PS. It's an almost exact dupe for MAC Honeylove, just in liquid form.

Falls over at the last hurdle

There's no doubt these products are the best thing since sliced bread when you first put them on your gob but as you try and rock your perfect purple pout for the rest of the day this is where you find the products fall a little short of your mile high expectations. I know these are matte lip creams but I find the formula a little too drying especially given, now wait for it, they do come off during the day! More annoyingly is that you need to take your whole application off as touch ups aren't possible with this product as it flakes off. I have so much praise for this product if you are wearing it for a shortish amount of time and don't plan on eating or drinking but I struggle to find occasions to wear this due to th rigmoral required to reapply. If you want something still drugstore priced but legitimately budge proof I would pick the Rimmel Provocalips over this.

Tips: Do not apply this on dry lips, it settles into the cracks and crevices of your lips and will exaggerate any dryness. Exfoliating your lips beforehand is a good idea =]

Take make up wipes with you if you plan on wearing all day as you can't touch this up without reapplying from scratch.

Oily foods are this products kryptonite, avoid avoid avoid!

Amazing colour (with a few flaws)

Australis Velourlips Matte cream Lipsticks aren't perfect. They have their flaws and their issues. So why do I have three, bought within a week of each other? Easy.

THE COLOUR!!

These insanely pigmented, bright, gorgeous shades are knockout. I have MA-LI-BOO, SHANG-HI and TO-KI-O. I'll go through each for you.

MA-LI-BOO was my first one, and an impulse buy the day before I was due to go to Melbourne for a short trip. I put it on and instantly wanted to take it off. My lips felt odd. Tingly, and a little numb. I actually thought I was reacting. Then, I looked in the mirror. Cue instant Instagram selfie - oh my god. The colour is amazing. This is a very bright Barbie doll pink, with depth and sex appeal. It's girly but still sassy and sexy. Amazing colour, and the matte finish works perfectly with it. I took it off, moisturised my lips heavily and tried again in a couple of hours, with a much better application feeling for the same awesome colour result. Since then, I've worn it numerous times and always get comments and compliments on how bright, pretty and bold it is.

Now that I'd figured out how to 'do' these, when I realised they cost about half the price in Aussie I picked up two more. I chose SHANG-HI and TO-KI-O because not only are they in my colour family of faves, I have a huge connection to Asia (and Tokyo in particular) and they appealed to me through their names.

SHANG-HI is a darker berry pink. It tends towards red, but is still very much a pink, and is a much less bold statement colour than M-LI-BOO while still being dramatic and gorgeous. I've worn this out for a formal work dinner and been complimented on it, as well as to work and out shopping.

TO-KI-O is out there. It's a dark lavender purple - gorgeous if you suit purple tones, but quite unusual as a lip colour. This is not one I'd wear to work, but would definitely rock on a night out.

All three dry to a matte finish. This means that - and hold on to your seats here - they don't really transfer to your wine glass or coffee cup. They can also handle a light amount of food, though a bigger meal tends to fade them out a bit more quickly. The lasting is always a good thing but even more so with these because they *are* quite drying, and reapplication makes that worse. I definitely wouldn't recommend repeated reapplication - and make sure you've got a great lip balm handy for afterwards.

I don't buy in to the whole 'beauty is pain' thing, but when minor fleeting discomfort yields stunning lips, I can live with it. By the way - they smell divine. Vanilla-berry, if I had to name it.

Go easy if you've sensitive skin, but do give them a try. I'm in love - with my own lips <3

Tips: Watch where you shop - K-Mart have limited colours for $15, Farmers have the full range for $17.50 (as do other stores). Go the $17.50 route as you can swatch these. K-Mart has them sealed. If you're in Aussie, Priceline stocks them for $9.95 - and I'd just missed the 50% off special, so thank goodness I'm heading back over the ditch!

Top Notch!

After hearing alot of hype about these, I had to go out and get one. I purchased this in red and this product is to die for! Good pigmentation and staying power, definitely money well spent. Am quite keen to purchase other colours but Farmers are always sold out. The colour doesn't budge so it stays all day which is good, it also means you need a good makeup remover to take it off at the end of the day.

I would recommend not trying to reapply once the product is dry, it tends to clump and isn't the greatest feeling on your lips.

Tips: 1. Stay away from oily food, it messes with the formula and causes the product to smudge. 2. Exfoliate your lips and make sure they're well moisturised with lip balm before application - you don't want to accentuate any dry patches on your lips.

Australis Velourlips

I purchased Velourlips in both Mal-i-boo and Tok-i-o as I was wanting to add more colour in my lip collection (I mostly just had tinted balms) and I definitely found it in these!

These are my first matte colours. I've only ever had cream formula lipsticks in the past. I thought my lips were soft and smooth before applying but once on I discovered a dry patch so it's really important to exfoliate first!

My second and subsequent applications I rubbed some coconut oil on my lips then scrubbed some sugar granules into them. After cleaning it off they felt really soft so I applied lip balm and then the velourlips. This was a much better and smoother application.

The applicator is good, but I find it a little difficult to get clean lines around the edges of my lips. This will probably get easier with practice I think. The scent of the formula is nice, a little hard to pinpoint but the closest I can get is probably grape lollies. I didn't think it was too strong until my husband said I went past in a grape scented cloud!

I find that they come off after eating pretty much anything and I haven't been brave enough to attempt re-applying without the exfoliation etc so I don't tend to wear it anywhere that food will be involved.

I love my velourlips, I plan on getting another one in a more nude shade as well. You can see me wearing Tok-i-o on my beauty space photos.

Tips: Exfoliate really well and use a lip balm before applying.

So Pigmented!

When you first take the applicator out of the tube, the sweet scent of velourlips fills the air. The smell reminds me a lot of the 'Nerds' candies I used to eat. The colours are as shown in the tube, they are opaque and the doe foot applicator means you can create a bold, defined lip easily. The staying power is also amaaazing! I wore this to a dinner where I had burgers and drinks, came home to find that my lips were still the rich red (NY-CEE) colour that I'd left the house with. Definitely worth the price, I'll be buying a lot lot more in the future.

Tips: Apply lip balm before using velourlips as they can be a bit drying.

Don't layer this lip cream as it begins to crack, you won't need to layer it since it's so opaque anyways!

The colours!

I have this is Rio-D and wow I am super impressed with the colour! Its super bright and goes on your lips really nicely. The staying power is also really awesome, and I love how once it's on, it doesn't rub off easily (on glasses, when eating etc). I will say that I always find matte products a little bit drying and I need to make sure my lips are moisturised and scrubbed before applying.

Tips: Apply a layer, then wait for it to dry before adding another to make it more opaque.
