Brilliant colour pay off

Colour Pop is an American brand that I became aware of through instagram. Their eye shadows have been featured in the up and coming back up trends over the past year. Before purchasing these eye shadows I didn't know that they are cream shadows. I had brought a couple of these shadows through an online market place.

The two colours that I purchased is Hustle (Purple) and Roulette (Black) both Matte. These shadows come in these small white pots. I like that the lid is clear so that you can see the colour of the eye shadow behind it. This shadow has colour pop written across the front of this pot. I was surprised at how sturdy the pot was. This shadow is creamy . It was surprisingly pigmented.

I didn't use a eye shadow primer with this shadow and the colour pay off was good. I wore these eye shadows all day and I didn't experience any wear. I was so happy because my eye shadow normally fades away. Overall I was really impressed with these eye shadows and I really would like to purchase more. I think their priced affordably. Awesome colour pay off.

Super pigmented

I got this in Bill, which is a purple/mauve sort of color. When I bought this online I thought it'd be quite a big bigger but the pan is actually very shallow despite the deceptively deep packaging.

The texture of this makes me think of those cream to powder blushes which feel bouncy to apply but then dries to a powdery finish. Because of its texture, it's insanely pigmented especially when packed on with my finger. It also glides on very smooth when I use my finger to spread it out. I don't think it works as well with a brush because it sort of squishes around a bit, and has a tendency to stick to the hairs of the brush.

The wear not as long lasting as some of my other shadows, perhaps due to its unique formulation. And I do notice patchiness and creasing after a while even with primer on. But for an everyday lid color this isn't too bad.

I probably won't buy more of these simply because the shipping isn't worth it unless I get a bulk.

Packs a punch!

I've just counted and it turns out I have 23 different shades of the Colourpop Super Shock Shadows, so I think it's fair to say that I am a fan!

These shadows come in a variety of finishes, including: matte, shimmer, satin, and glitter. Personally I'm less fond of the glitter finish as this does tend to create fallout on the face but the other ones are amazing!

The texture of these are unlike any other product I've tried, they're almost like a putty but less sticky. They do need to have their lids on firmly to prevent drying out which is why they're in the tubs rather than in a palette format. I believe though that this putty-like texture is how they've managed to put so much pigment into the shadows so a little goes a long way.

The amount of product you actually get is quite deceptive, and this is my main gripe with the product. The tub makes it appear as though you are getting a full jar of each shade when in reality it's just a regular sized eyeshadow pan of product inside a large tub, making it difficult to store or transport in your makeup bag.

To sum up my thoughts on this, I do love them but they are a bit big for storage and always threaten to dry out so you really do need to weigh up whether the colour payoff is worth the space in your collection.

Tips: For maximum colour payoff, apply with your finger. If you don't like using your fingers in makeup (like me!) then one of the "old school" eyeshadow applicators with the spongey tip works the same, if not better. Added bonus of the applicators is being able to give a more precise application than using fingers.

Sound worth a look at.I prefer one colour to a palette as I find I waste a lot of colours that I don't use.

One Day, I Bought a Quad.

Kathleenlights' quad, to be more specific. Long story short, I paid $42 for this quad. Unnecessary, now that I look back on it, but to me the quality of these shadows are so good that it was worth it, in a way.

Cute, simple packaging that still manages to stand out. A white screw top jar with the Colourpop logo written on it in gold writing and the top is clear so you can see what colour is inside.

They have so many finishes, but this quad had 2 mattes, one pearlized and one metallic. Every shadow is perfection. Incredibly pigmented, the 2 non matte shades are beautifully shimmery without any chunks of glitter in them and the matte shades blend gorgeously as long as you use a synthetic brush. The texture of these shadows is extremely unique, halfway between a powder and a cream. They go on like a powder, so don't worry about it being too creamy, but when you put your finger into the pot you can leave little squishy indents in the product. To me, this texture is just so fun, but it also makes the shadows AMAZINGLY smooth and they have almost no fall out. It is best to use your fingers for packing it on the lid, because of the texture, that's how you get the best pigment. However like I said, if you use a synthetic brush to take them in the crease, it works beautifully.

I want more and more and more of these shadows. They're stunning and even though I'm usually a palette lover, these singles are not to be missed. Plus they're incredible value, even if the shipping is a little steep sometimes.

Tips: Keep the lid tightly shut so that the shadows don't dry out. And do not try to de-pot them... ever.

La La - Rose gold goodness

Out of all the rose gold makeup I own 'La La' by far is the most stunning example of the shade. The online swatches do it no justice!

I bought my lot off of the Colourpop website and had it shipped via Shipito to NZ even though Colourpop ship direct to NZ. For the quality you get, these are unbelievably affordable however be mindful of the exchange rate.

I like the simple white packaging with the see-through screw top however it's not the most user friendly when you're in a rush. If you forget to close it you'll be greeted with dry product the next time round but it's nothing a little MAC Fix Plus and a bit of pressure can't fix.

When I originally tested the shadow I used a flat eyeshadow brush to pat on the colour but I felt the product clung to the bristles and the finish looked rather patchy. I prefer instead to pat the product on with clean fingers - you're left with great pigmentation, even coverage and a goregeous metallic finish.

What I love most about these shadows is you can go in with your powder shadows and still be able to blend the product in without it looking caked on.

I have oily lids so unfortunately due to the creamy nature of the shadow it'll begin fading by the 5th to 6th hour (or without primer within 3 to 4 hours) so I tend to reserve these types of shadows for when I'm going out for a short period of time.

Tips: Prime my lids, pat on the shadow using my finger then smoke the corners out with a burgundy brown using a brush.

Simply stunning...

I ordered 4 lippie stix and 4 super shock shadows from the Colourpop website.

First off, prices. The cost was US$40 for the products, plus US$20 shipping, which seems excessive, but seeing as cosmetics are usually more expensive in NZ anyway, it was a pretty good deal! Total cost including shipping was about NZ$75, so it was under NZ$10 per item - so don't let the shipping put you off!

Packaging is cute. Love the holographic fonts. It's simple and white and clean looking.

The colours I ordered are:

Smash - A warm brown beige with gold undertones in a satin finish. This was my least favourite shadow, it just doesn't show up on my skin tone once it's on my eyes. I bought it for a crease colour, but it just blends out on my eyes. Does leave a nice sheen though.

Get Lucky - Most beautiful gold metallic shade! So super pigmented and it looks like liquid gold on your eyes. A true yellow gold.

Game Face - An ultra-metallic finish, a beautiful bright copper shade. This is the most pigmented out of the lot.

So Quiche - This is my favourite! A metallic olive with flecks of brown, pinks, purples. So hard to describe but it is just beautiful! I like this all over my lid it makes my grey eyes pop!

The formulas are like a powder-slash-mousse consistency, cool to the touch. As they recommend, it is easier and colour payoff is better when using fingers to apply.

I am keen to get this whole collection, some of the best shadows I have ever used, worth the hype and worth the price!!

Shadow shock

A single pottle of shadow shade that has engraved affect on it. The sleek pottle is white and good in size the lid is a screw top with a clear plastic viewing part thar has printing colorpop across it. Hanky Panky is the shade I have it's matte. It looks as if there is a sparkle in there but there isn't it. By appearance you think its a powder but by feel it's a cream powder so dense and pressed but to touch it's soft and buttery cream texture yet stays dense packed. Colour pay off is very nice however the texture causing issues with a flat shadow shading brush because it sticks to the bristles. Application with a clean finger gives best results. In saying that blending is a breeze. I really think these are a good product and the price seems affordable although I was gifted mine. I think everyone needs at least one item from this brand.

Tips: Try applying with your ring finger for lids.

Buy them now!

I love the packaging of these shadows, they are all individual sleek white pots with a clear plastic top to view the shades.

I own the Shaaanxo x colourpop set and have a few more on their way! The texture of these shadows are out of this world its a creamy almost mousse like texture, so soft and buttery! I love that they are super pigmented and easy to blend, I prefer to apply with my fingers and buff out if required.

The available colour range is amazing everything from mattes, to glitters from neutrals to bold colours. Once you purchase your first lot you will be running to add more to your cart!

The price is amazing, the only downside is the shipping can get a bit expensive as it is all calculated by weight.

Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?

Maybe it's witchcraft in the form of an eyeshadow!

Lets start with the outside and work our way in - the packaging is super cute - white screw top that sits deep over the outside to help prevent the product drying out and there is a multidimensional logo on the lid with the colour name on the bottom. Shame they don't put the finish type on the bottom though.

Inside, is this like spongy product, maybe even like a mousse. Like no other product I've ever touched before. I only got the one shadow so far, but this is a gateway shadow that will lead to many other shadows. I got Smash which is a satin finish in warm beige with gold flecks. It's almost a nude on my medium skin, but it's like a "my lids but better" shade if ya know what I mean! It was a bit lighter than I expected to be honest because it looks really nice in the pot.

12 hours later, this hasn't creased. I didn't even go full on primer on my lids either. Just some Mac Painterly underneath to bring out the best colour possible. I just used my finger to do the application and it was all that the magic needed to stay all day.

Tips: Lid tight so it doesn't dry out and the unicorns don't escape from this product.

LOVE LOVE LOVE

Pigmentation is AH-MAZ-ING! They last all day, and the price is very reasonable!

The texture of these are quite different to what I've seen before, and can be quite difficult to use. They feel like a mousse, which makes them very hard to apply with a brush, I tend to use my finger and use a clean brush to blend if I need to.

Although they can be difficult to apply, and the exchange rate makes them a bit pricey, I feel like they are 100% worth it! The pigmentation is amazing, the quality is superb, and the colours are so beautiful! I have the KathleenLights quad and a few pinky shades, and I feel like I need more!

Tips: Apply with finger, and blend with a clean blending brush
