Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

This is a lovely gentle cleanser, perfect for sensitive skin. It has a very thin consistency, which can slip through your fingers before you get a chance to apply it. However it applies very easily, and rubs in nicely leaving skin feeling noticably clean and refreshed. It is scent free and feels as though only gentle ingredients have been used rather than some cleansers which leave blemished skin feeling sore and exposed. I have been using it for about a month now and noticed visible inprovements in my acne!

Tips: Works really well with Cetaphil moisturiser - recommendad to me by a dermatologist!

Very Gentle on Sensitive Skin

After my second baby, my skin when out of control, I suffered from lots of big sore pimple on my cheeks. Being a woman of colour, I am prone to scaring. I had heard that Cetaphil was good cleanser for sensitive or problem skin. I purchased a small bottle. The consistency is cream like, and the smell is quite neutral, it doesn't lather, but cleans the face nicely without stripping the skin like a surfactant would, which means that my face didn't dry out. It helped my skin to balance out, and my breakouts came under control. A good product. Would recommend.

Lifesaver

I love this cleanser so so much. When I was studying I began having a lot of breakouts due to stress, it was awful, I never was that spotty as a teenager so I had no clue what to do, and my skin is quite sensitive so any of the acne destroying face-washes usually just ended up making it worse. I use cetaphil twice a day in combination with a rosewater and witch hazel toner -$10 a bottle from the pharmacy and honestly the combination works better for me then a lot of high end products. My skin is completely clear and smooth now.

Tips: A lot of supermarkets sell this product now so you don't even have to make a special trip to the pharmacy or anything to buy it!

Love love love this stuff

I first tried Cetaphil as a poor student, years ago, and I remember texting everyone to rave about it, to the point where friends were asking if I was being paid to promote the stuff (which I wasn't). A few years down the track, and I'd tried many new things, discovering what worked best for my skin as I age.

Just recently, after investing in a sonic cleansing brush, I needed something basic, with no bells or whistles or beads or anything, to use with it. And something that was easy on the budget too, because that month was tight. I picked up a value pump bottle of cetaphil from Farmers, and rekindled my love affair with this product.

It's very mild and gentle, and leaves the skin smooth and free of residue. It removes sweat, oil and foundation, but not eye makeup (wasn't expecting it to though, use oil for that!) It's great value for money, and not overly scented; in fact it barely smells at all.

Tips: Great with a sonic cleansing brush.

This sounds like a really good product and the sonic cleansing brush sounds really interesting especially as I am a gadget person

There are better options

Despite being a gentle cleanser, the Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser contains sodium lauryl sulfate - one of the harshest surfactants around. If you're someone who is concerned about parabens, it also has 3 of the parabens on the "dirty dozen" list.

It doesn't clean off any make up or sunscreen. It feels gentle when I use it but my skin gets worse if I try to use it long term. It also leaves a filmy residue on my face.

There are much better options out there for cleansers that don't have such harmful ingredients and do a much better job cleaning your face.

I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. If you have extremely sensitive skin, you're probably better off using water.

Tips: Try to find a cleanser that is better for your skin long term

Completely Useless

I had previously not wanted to review this cleanser as I thought how could I possibly dislike a product so much that everyone seems to love! Being a Beauty Therapist I would never recommend this product to a client and I’m going to tell you why.

There are absolutely NO beneficial ingredients in this product. Instead there are several ingredients that have been PROVEN to be toxic to the skin. It may feel gentle on your skin but it’s not doing anyone any good to use this product. It contains no soothing ingredients, no antioxidants, nothing at all that will actually help your skin in any way, shape or form.

Even worse is that this product doesn’t actually cleanse the skin at all. It doesn’t remove stubborn makeup properly and it doesn’t break down dirt the way that a decent cleanser should. It feels awful on my skin and I couldn’t dislike it any more if I tried. There are so many better options out there for cleansing you face - you just need to do a little research and find one that works for you.

Also one other thing to mention - “dermatologist tested” means absolutely nothing. It’s a marketing gimmick! Plain and simple.

My HG cleanser

Removes light makeup, helps prevent my acne and isn’t too drying. Perfect cleanser. Sometimes I try other brands for a change (including luxury brands) but always regret it and return to my trusted cetaphil.

Tips: I also use it to remove heavy foundation by just washing my face with this twice

Perfect

I was suffering from red sore skin on my face so I thought I would give this a try. It is perfect. It is easy to apply - I either apply it on a a slightly damp face and wash off with a cloth or in the shower. It had no smell at all and doesn't leave your skin feeling dry and tight afterwards - my redness and acne has cleared up since using it. The 500ml bottle is great value for money also. I highly recommend this

Great for gentle/rosacea prone skin

I started using this as a substitute for dermalogica as I needed something budget friendly and someone told me about Cetaphil. I’ve been using this cleanser for two weeks now and will stick with it. I have rosacea and even after a rosacea acne breakout I used this product and it didn’t sting or dry out my skin. It leaves it really soft and doesn’t flare up my redness or my rosacea as some other products do. I find it also is great at removing my make up. Really happy I found a price friendly product that is sensitive on my skin.

Tips: I follow up the cleanser with the Cetaphil Optimal Hudration 48 hr Activation Serum and then the Cetaphil Rich Night Cream for a great moisture boost to my skin.

So Nourishing

Although this cleanser does not remove heavy makeup it is a great cleanser for me to use on a daily basis. Most days I only wear basic makeup and Cetaphil leaves my skin feeling soft and clean without a harsh stripped feel some cleansers do.I have fair dry skin and like gentle products best. I also like the pump action of the bottle.

Tips: If you have used a harsh cleanser to get rid of heavy makeup give another clean with Cetaphil and you will be surprised how nice your skin feels.
