Lipstick

Mac lipstick i find very debatable whether this product is good or not. Mac has a good range of colors for their lipsticks and they are definitely good, however you can buy the same color from somewhere else for half of the costs! not to mention mac lipstick comes off quite easy. the lipstick itself though is very easy to wear and isnt too thick which is good.It is nice on your lips. I just find this product very pricey

Love my mac lipstick :)

I was given my first mac lipstick from an amazing BR member, and I am in love with it!

I have the shade Patissere, which is a great everyday nude shade. The colour is highly pigmented, and you only need a couple of swipes of the lipstick to achieve full coverage. The lipstick smells nice, and comes in a classy black tube. The lipstick winds up and down easily, and there is a good amount of product in the tube. It is strong, and does not feel like it is going to snap, or break, unlike some other lipsticks ive had in the past.

As with most lipsticks it does seem to wear off a little bit, while eating & drinking, but that is to be expected, so make sure you always carry your chosen shade for the day in your handbag so that you can reapply it if needed.

Overall I would definitely recommend getting your hands on one of these lippys, especially if your a mac virgin! I always thought mac was to expensive to buy, UNTIL i was given this lipstick, now I am absolutely sold on it, and will definitely be buying more in the future :)

Worth The Hype

We all know MAC has a big name and with it a huge reputation to live up to. Luckily these lipsticks do the trick! My favourites so far are 'Creme Cup' and 'Creme d'Nude'. Both are highly pigmented with great staying power and a nice scent. I think they're worth the price.

Tips: Get your hands on a clear lip liner. That way you can match it to any lipstick!

Love my MAC

Some of my favourite lipsticks are MAC ones, even though they're pricey in NZ I do believe they are worth it (or just use a forwarding service to get them from America!) I own 1 matte, viva glam I, and on me it isn't THAT drying. I have super dry lips so I do tend to try keep my lips as smooth and hydrated as I can. It's a beautiful colour and amazing pigmentation and a very nice wear time. Satin finishes are probably my favourite, almost as good wear time as matte's but nowhere near as drying. Lustre is another of my fave, glossy and a bit sheer, but can be built up to a more opaque look. I recently bought a cremesheen (yesterday) and I love it! I got the colour Creme Cup and I think it's beautiful and looks nice on the lips.

Tips: Exfoliate lips and moisturise! Blot, and reapply for longer lasting colour.

Lip Junkie Love!!

As a self confessed lip junkie, saying I love Mac lipsticks would be an understatement!! I own a total of 5 Mac lipsticks and I plan to get many many more and let me tell you why. The colour selection is amazing. As a darker skin tone I feel as though the mainstream makeup line's do not carry enough shades to suit us. All we get is the maroons and the berry's. Mac on the other hand has a large selection suitable for anyone. Whether your looking for a dark lip to a nude. My favourite nude for my nc 43-44 is Taupe and fast play. Staying power is pretty good. I apply a coat in the morning and usually do not need to reapply till lunch time. Number of finishes. There is a finish in Mac lipstick for everyone and the lipsticks have a very pleasant smell. Overall I love the lipsticks and although the price is a little steep in NZ compared to the U.S. I will still continue to use and purchase them.

Tips: Best colours. Diva, Rebel, Cream in your Coffee, and the infamous Ruby Woo.

On the Fence... but I don't want to be!

After hearing all the fuss and hype about MAC lippies, it was only a matter of time before I buckled and bought one. I purchased it on sale, which was a huge bonus as the RRP is pretty steep for a lippy.

The colour I have is Candy Yum Yum. It's a bright, bright candy pink in a Matte formula.

Now, I love the colour; it's flamboyant and everything I'm drawn to in a lipstick shade. I'm a pink fan through and through, so it's perfect in that sense.

Where I am on the fence is the formula. When I apply it, I find that it's a mix of sheer and opaque - i.e it's an uneven finish. The matte-ness makes it quite dry, and it tends to give a 'cracked' appearance.

Now, I DO have drier lips than most, so this could be exasperating the effect, but in all honesty, compared to some other cheaper brands of mattes I have, I did expect more from the famous MAC.

I have not given up on it, however! It's just a little bit more high-maintenance to wear, so I need to prep and take a bit more care with it.

I would definitely purchase another MAC lipstick, but I think I'll avoid their Matte's. (Haha, depending on the colour. Colour comes first - right ladies?)

Tips: Prep those lips before you apply!

Beautiful colours - Gunner

I have only just jumped in after hearing so much about MAC all over the place. I saw a colour that was limited edition and thought I simply must have it! (I missed out on another because I thought too long about it and had I have waited much longer might have missed on this one too).

So the eager wait for it to arrive... did I make a good decision? Is it going to worth the high price tag I just paid? Will the colour suit me (the joys of online shopping).

So it arrives, I rip open the packaging and see a little black box.. very elegant already, opened that carefully and see a little black bullet case... it just screams style, but what about the product?

So I just sit and look at it for a while because I consider the possibilities... what if it doesn't suit.. I will have to re-home it, I would need to make sure I use a brush to apply and not contaminate it. Right photos first (that's what we do right? then I summoned the courage to apply this bold larger than life colour and I just have to say WOW! It is the shade Gunner and it is the deepest darkest purple I have seen (a bit like Heroine but darker) and a satin or semi matte. The scent (lippys all have a scent, some we love some not so much) is a bit like a vanilla milkshake and a tad like... dare I say subte playdoh?) I have to say I just love the colour... I even braved wearing it in public and I didn't notice any stares.

I like the creaminess of the lippy but my biggest let down is the way it wears off. It barely lasts a few hours especially if eating or drinking. I bought a lip liner to try to increase longevity... sadly it didn't do a lot to increase it.

I still am i love with the colour so I can not fault it there but I know if I head out I need to take the bullet with me for touch ups.

The colour is build-able too so if I apply too many times it really darkens to an almost black. I am looking forward to having a play with more options like teaming it with a sparkly gloss

Updated: Recently purchased another shade 'Violetta' which having seen swatches looked purple, got it home and to my surprise s shines a "stunning' shade of pink... not quite what I was after but still a pretty shade. It is amazing how a shade can look so different on other peoples lips/skin. a tad disappointed but it does wear well (and quite a bit better than the previous shade I purchased. Different finishes wear off at different rates.

Thanks so much for this review hun. I have this lippy on hold at the moment with a lovely seller. So glad I asked her to keep one aside for me. I've been looking for the perfect purple and this sounds what I need. I can't wait to wear it he he he

Smells delicious!

Well this is awkward, it seems I'm the black sheep in this MAC lipstick owning family.

Firstly, I own Honeylove, which is a Matte. I love the colour of this one! It's a gorgeous browny nude, a good alternative to Velvet Teddy for those with a fairer complexion.

I also own Modesty, which is a Cremesheen. This is the perfect every day 'your lips but better' colour, it suits so many people!

They do smell incredible, but the issues I have with these lippys are: 1) The matte formula is incredibly drying (duh, Sarah) no, but more drying than other mattes in my collection 2) The matte also leaves that dreaded filthy ring around the inner rim of my lips *dry retches* 3) The cremesheen formula is super creamy (again, duh Sarah) but it wears off in what feels like minutes. I feel like I have to reapply 6704 times per day 4) The price tag, $40? Phwoar!

I just feel like I have other lippys that perform the same, for half the price, if not less. MAC is great because they have a seemingly unlimited selection of lippys, so if you can't find a colour/finish in other brands, you might have luck finding it with them, however, I will be looking at more affordable brands in future before looking at MAC.

I will still be going to MAC for all my other loves though! Tehe.

Tips: If you have your heart set on getting a MAC lippy, because let's face it, every girl needs one in their collection to feel that extra bit of glam, I would recommend finding reviews on the one you wish to purchase firstly.

MAC Lipsticks

These. Are. AMAZING! Absolute favorite lipsticks. I now own 8 of these beauties. Heroine, Ruby Woo, So Chaud, Snob, Candy Yum Yum, Blankety, Rebel, and of course Velvet Teddy with a huge list of names to purchase in the near future.

These smell amazing like vanilla. The packaging is to die for and look so high end.

The matte's are my favorite. I find they last me all day at work, even through meals etc.

Snob is a perfect every day color pale pink and you definitely need this in your makeup collection.

Ruby Woo is an amazing red. It is a very dry matte, some people may find it too drying but nothing a lip balm wouldn't fix.

I love the colour Blankety but i find it's too natural on my lips for me. Velvet Teddy stands out more.

So Chaud is totally under-rated. It's an orange-red. More on the orange side. It's a great statement color but it's not too over the top.

Candy Yum-Yum is a BRIGHT pink, not for the faint-hearted but if you can rock it then, you go girrrrrrl!

Which leaves Heroine. My absolute favorite! The most amazing purple. There hasn't been a day I've worn heroine and not received a compliment on it. It's so so perfect and would wear it every day if I could.

MAC lipsticks are a bit pricey but absolutely worth it, It took me awhile to stretch out and purchase one but now I'm completely addicted. Sin is next on my list :)

Tips: Some are better wearing if used with a lip-liner but not necessary.

I think I might succumb to one of these in duty free next week - thanks for listing each of your colours, I'm kind of drawn towards Heroine from what you've said!

Bloody MACtastic

If you had told me a few years ago that I would spend $40 on a lipstick and not feel guilty about it - I would totally be scoffing and rolling my eyes. MAC lipsticks have totally changed my lip game for sure.

I don't have many, only three, but the ones that I do have - Ruby Woo, Heroine and Viva Glam III are total perfection.

All three are different finishes - Retro Matte, Matte and Satin - so I was expecting variations in quality.. but boy was I wrong! Each of them are super pigmented and surprising (well, surprising for the retro matte) super moisturising.

They are all incredibly pigmented, and last for most of the day. I may need to touch up just after lunch, but that is all that I would need.

Normally I don't pay attention to the scents of lipsticks, but this is pretty awesome. It has a sweet vanilla scent - which is rad because I ADORE vanilla. It's not off putting at all.

MAC nails their packaging. It's sleek and easy to identify, you could call it iconic! I can easily find my lipsticks at the bottom of my handbag because their shape is like no other! They are easy to carry and to store because of this as well.

Overall, I'm happy that I've got this slow-growing addiction. I can't wait to add more to my collection!

Tips: Don't wait as long as I did - go to your nearest counter now!
