More than cheap and cheerful

If you have read my past reviews on products you will know that I am a a bit of a brand snob - I blame my Dad when I was a teenager he bought my sisters and I Chanel No 5 for Christmas while my Mum was in hospital (she was moritified) and after that I was hooked on quality - the pretty bottle and advertising helps! However I have trialled a number of products lately that I have found to be quite good - products that this brand snob usually aligns to cheap and cheerful. Neutrogena as a brand is definitely in this category for me but to be fair this particular product deserves better than that. So my review is this - packaging is lovely I am a sucker for the visually attractive and blue reminds me of water - yes the hydro boost connatation is not lost on me. I love blue and the calming effect so a winner on that front - the texture of the product is divine - again I am a sucker for gel products, I love how it feels when you put it on your skin. My skin definitely felt hydrated and remained hydrated over 24 hours - I tested this by not cleansing and moisturising at night. I have to admit that my skin felt best when I put my SPF mositureriser over the top and I definitely would not use this as a stand alone product but in conjunction with my normal routine I was pretty impressed! O for awesome Neutrogena

Tips: Use as one step in your maintenance programme - cause lets face it all we are doing is maintaining!

Hydration Must!

I am so in love with this product! I was super excited to try this, as I have never tried a gel moisturizer and now that I have, I don't think I would go back.

It’s super hydrating and makes my skin feel super soft and refreshing. I use mine twice a day, once in the morning and again at night after my shower. The only down side that I had notice with using this was that after my shower at night and can sting a little when applying. This is no biggie to me as I realize that my skin is open up and the sensitive areas are more irritable at this stage. If you have sensitive skin it may pay to test it before going with a full size pot or even see if there is an option for sensitive skin.

The packaging is nice and light, instead of a glass pot it is plastic, which is good (just in case you drop it on the bathroom tiles) and the lid goes on nice and easy. The gel its self is nice and light and soaks up nicely once it is on your skin. It does not leave a sticky feeling on your face, which some gel base products can do. I believe that since I have start using this, my skin is feeling a lot more hydrated and I would recommend this product to my friends and family

Trial success

I was lucky enough to be chosen by beauty review to trial this product ( thanks beauty review! ). I expected a lot from this product as it promises a lot, 'doubles skins moisture in 1hr' had me hopeful it would deliver! I have normal to dry skin which lately has been more on the dry side with the change in seasons. I have been using this product for nearly two weeks and I was impressed from the 1st use! I have been using this every night and in the morning when I haven't required an spf moisturiser. The texture is lovely! I love the luxury of the gel formula and it sinks into my skin leaving no sticky or greasy residue( a must! ). My skin definitely feels much more moisturised and seems to be more 'plump' and luminous in appearance. It hasn't caused me to break out like so many new products do for my skin. All in all I really like this product as part of my everyday routine & will be sure to repurchase when I run out!

Tips: Apply a thick layer and leave for 10-20minutes before removing excess with a tissue for a deeply moisturising and luxurious face mask!

Water Gel Review

Packaging : box and jar are vibrant, very eye catching Product: texture is smooth and smells amazing Test: after reading the box i was a little worried the product wouldn't last (box says apply generously) but i was to find that thought very wrong. the water gel spread so well, i only needed a small amount to cover my face and neck and it was really easy to apply. Right away i noticed a difference my face felt just like i had moisturized, its great if applied right before going out, but i did find that it didn't last the full 24 hours, my skin did start to dry out again after about 4-6 hours, applying more did help. i have noticed with using it my skin is more soft to start of with and then using it makes it better. i just wish it lasted a bit longer. i also have very sensitive skin and was worried i would have issues with it but i didn't which is great

Tips: a little goes a long way so don't start with to much :)

I hope they put this in bottle size

The entirety of my skin care choices revolves around two factors due to a skin condition I have called Keretosis Pilaris: non-comedogenic rating, and the ability to hydrate. This product fits both those categories and from what I have experienced while trialling this does what it says it will do; hydrate your skin.

When you use this gel you can almost watch it soak into your skin, I have never come across something that does that so well. After using it just once on my face, half an hour later I could feel the difference. I tried putting some on before going to bed instead of using my usual night cream and even in the morning softer still. Using this consistently I can guarantee you will feel the difference between this and what you normally use, and that’s coming from someone who has to moisturise religiously. I will definitely be continuing to use this and an added boost to my skincare regime. It may even end up replacing my night cream completely (also I’ve seen a night version in the supermarket so may even switch to using both!!) I spotted the price at my local countdown at around $22 bottle per jar. For my needs that’s a reasonably good deal considering the results you get are so fantastic

Even though this product is designed for the facial area I decided to run a little test against what I currently use on my skin my using it on one arm and continuing with my usual product on the other to see if I could find a visible and obvious difference. I chose these areas because I get KP breakouts on my arms and one part of treating it is to moisturize intensively to prevent it from even occurring. I am very happy to say I saw a reduction in it on the arm I used this product on and both felt and saw a difference in my skins appearance.

Now the little details: • There is little to no scent to this gel and my skin (sensitive/dry) had no reactions to it at all • Is easy to apply, cooling to the skin and soaks in very quickly with no greasy residue, it worked so well I would put another application of it just to watch it soak in again for the fun of it • A little goes a long, long way so if you’re umming and ahhing about the average price of this product let me put it this way: my trial is finished and the jar is not. • If you have dry skin this is an absolute winner and because of it non-comedogenic rating it won’t block your pores either so it may still do a wonderful job for those with combination skin that want to hydrate their skin but don’t want to trigger a breakout

Totally recommend it, totally going to keep using this!!!

Tips: Dab your finger into the gel and then into the palm of your hand and rub them together first to help you get an even coating of this stuff over your skin, don't be afraid of using too much either because if you keep rubbing it in your skin is just going to keep on soaking it in, utterly beautiful stuff

Neutrogena hydro boost

First things first the packaging was perfect. It reminds you of water. It smells fresh and looks refreshing. Just looking at it makes you think your skin is going to feel instantly hydrated. When I first applied this It soaked into my skin instantly and I definitely didn't use it sparingly then I waited for it to dry and apply my BB cream over top. Big fail. It just turned into a mess I tried this several times less gel more BB cream then more gel less BB cream and nothing worked so I gave up and used just the gel over a good 8 days my skin has changed. I have noticed the fine lines around my eyes have smoothed out and my skin does feel smooth and does feel hydrated. Over these 8 days I very reluctantly gave up my serum so I could make a fair review. This would be an awesome summer must have as it reminds me of summer and after sun gel. It instantly cools your face. I never had any breakouts using this gel which is one thing I love about it. I would probably consider buying this again. Especially over summer on days I can get away with not wearing BB cream or make up

Tips: Just use the gel on its own. Under a BB cream doesn't work unless somebody has a good tip on how to??

Gimme the Moisture

Lets cut straight to it this product does what it says, it rehydrates your skin like nothing else i have ever used, but i just can't decide if i like it. I am not sure what it is, but there is something about it that make me go yea nah. It could possibly be the smell. Its not bad or anything but to me it just smells like sunblock which is a bit weird for the more "upmarket" spectrum of the Neutrogena range, i think i was just expecting something a bit different.

It does make your skin feel lovely and plump when you first put it on, like you have walked through a light mist in the spring time. It does feel like you have to reapply it to keep up the level of moisture though but that might just be me and the environment i work in. Everyone knows air conditioning sucks out your skins moisture like a vampire sucking blood. So I will agree with its claim that it doubles skins moisture in 1 hour but i dont think it keeps going for the full 24 hours but hey thats a pretty big claim to live up to.

I found that this actually worked amazingly well on my hands too. I have quite dry "bakers" hands, like you can see all the lines on the backs of my hands along with a few burns and scars. When i put the Hydro Boost on the lines pretty much disappeared and they felt so super smooth. This is almost better as a hand cream than a face cream.

Over all yea its a good product it makes you skin feel nice and looks all young and dewy but nah i wouldn't buy it myself. Personally if i was going to buy a gel moisturiser i would buy the vitamin E one from the Body Shop, it smells nicer and i think it does a better job of holding in your skins moisture for a longer period than the Hydro Boost.

Tips: Put it on your hands!! Trust me!

Also keep it in your bag and reapply if you work in a building with that heinous demon known as air conditioning.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel

First of all Love the packaging that this product came in I am in love with the blue/silver packaging and the simple style of the blue potttle which is GREAT. When opened the smell of the product is minimal and pleasing, definitely not an overpowering product, some of nutrogenas products are quite perfumy but this isnt! The texture of the product is a light pale ble gel, this was extremely pleasing as I have never used a light gel on my face I have always used the thick consistency products. I am also always sceptical of using anything that contains an "Acid" as my skin is so sensitive that it reacts with anything unnatural on my face but so far so good with this product. The most noticeable effect from this gel is how your skin feels within 30 minutes of applying the product, my skin was so incredibly soft although I had a slight tingle on my skin from the ingredients it never eventuated into any reaction. It didnt help that I am in early pregnancy and the fact that my skin is breaking out like no tomorrow so I cannot review this product in that respect. In terms of keeping my skin hydrating for elongated periods of time I didn’t notice any incredible difference. All in all not the worst and not the, best 3 out of 5 for this :)

Hydrating

I have been using this everday in the morning for the past week and it has really hydrated my skin. I have sensitive combination skin (more dry at this time of year) and I haven't suffered any breakouts as a result of adding this product to my daily routine. It has moisturised well and I replaced my usual Neutrogena day moisturiser and have noticed a difference in my skin as it seems to really love the water gel and it really does make a difference within an hour! I'm not completely convinced about the progressive release system yet but my skin isn't as dry at the end of the day so perhaps it does work! The only negative comment I have about this is that I don't like the smell - it isn't a bad smell, it is just an odd one. Otherwise I highly recommend.

Tips: Apply to face when dry are a shower to rehydrate fast!

I want more!!!

I don't think i can accurately put in words how great this product is, But I shall try! I have very dry skin and normally moisturize at least 5 times a day, still when I try to wear foundation I get dry flaky patches which look horrid! With this product I was down to twice a day and was able to wear both foundation AND powder when going out for my birthday dinner! that alone would make it top of my buy list. I also tried it on my partner who has skin issues, his response was that it felt great going on very refreshing and as good as what he gets on script from the doc's. It has no noticeable fragrance and feels light and refreshing going on. The packaging looks great and very upmarket, about my only complaint was that for the size of the jar a lot of it was glass not product however in saying that it amazed me how far a small amount went. So I feel it is still great value for money. another plus is that while using this I have had no breakouts and my skin looks and feels better then it has at anytime since pre teenage years which is saying something as I am now in my early 30's

Tips: I cant think of anything that would make this a better product.

Oh wait can they bring out a body lotion version?????????
