MAC Prep + Prime Fix + Review

This has been in my MAC must have list in so long and when a friend when to the US, I got her to pick this up for me since it's so much cheaper over there.

I love this and I use it before and after my makeup. Before my makeup, I feel like it refreshes my skin and hydrates it. It also helps my base makeup to settle better.

After my makeup, I also use this as a setting spray and I think it works well. I love the mist as it sprays quite evenly and you don't end up with big blobs on your face.

I do find this quite expensive though as most MAC products are. While I do love this, I think there are now better and cheaper setting sprays available.

On a recent MAC haul I found the travel section of the MAC website and thought OH SO CUTE! I love smaller sized cosmetics and skincare as it is a great way to try things before buying a full size. Especially with MAC when things are a bit more expensive. I picked this up from the MAC website and used YouShop to get it to NZ.

The packaging of this is quite simple. The bottom is a clear part great to see how much product you have left. The pump is very practical. It is matte black. I like that you can move the lid to the side to lock it so that when travelling extra product doesn't come out. The spray is kind of annoying though, it isn't as smooth and even as I would expect for such a high-end product. Sometimes when I spray this it comes out so strong in places you can see the droplets where it has built up.

The product itself has a few different uses but I mainly use this for a finishing spray. I like to spray after I use powder to make it look less powdery (but still stay on just as long). It applies clear and doesn't have a scent at all. It worked well to make my powder look more natural and my makeup still looked good at the end of the day so I it doesn't badly effect the longevity of the product.

Although I did like this product it isn't holy grail for me. It is an extra product that you don't really NEED, and I also think that I will repurchase the Urban Decay Setting Spray instead of this as I know that the spray bottle works better (and can be reused with other things).

Well at least in my opinion!

This spray comes in a rather generous size that I will see lasting me a long time, previously I had the "to go" size to trial it which I fell in love with, that lasted me a good 3 months so the full size could be triple that at least! With a even sprtiz from the nozzle that finally veils your face to set your makeup and clear cap.

I use it not only as a finishing spray but as a loose powder and glitter mixer to turn them into a paint state so I can apply them to my eyes properly and evenly, helps to get the pigments to stand out and sets them all at the same time which is just perfect.

As a setting/finishing spray I use it when I need it, not every day requires fixing but when I do apply it, it settles almost instantly so you are not left with a wet mess that could cause your makeup to drip and move. Nope a quick mist that covers the entire face and your ready to face the world with unmovable makeup!

Love the product it does what it aims to do refresh the skin and allow makeup application to go on smoothly as well as setting powders down so that your makeup doesn't look cakey. Also a great product to use with eyeshadows to build pigmentation on lid. Bought the full size about a year ago and still have a decent amount left.

Where to start?! This was the first finishing spray I ever tried. I was at Mac getting tested for my summer shade. When I sat in the chair, and my lovely artist spritzed on my face, I instantly shouted 'what was that?!' As she was buffing my 7hr old make up, I literally died as I saw my make up come back to life. I had to have it there and then. So good under make up and over. Great to spray ob half way through the day to resuscitate your make up. The smell is out of this world, classy packaging, fine mist application. I recommend this as first choice to anyone wanting a setting spray. The caffeine in it really does wake your skin up and make you look and feel like a new babe! Try this .... Plus it can go towards your next Back To Mac ;)

I got this in travel size from the MAC Pro store at South Coast Plaza. I only purchased it because it was on the counter by the till and it was only $10. Over the last 10 months, and half a bottle, I've finally found my feet with this product.

As a setting spray, it does a decent job if you're using mineral makeup. It really does a good job of setting it in place and "melting" it to the skin. If you can get past the odd way that it sprays on your face. If you want to make your finishing powder look less cake, spritz!

I'm now using it as an eyeshadow superpower. Yup. Use this with eyeshadow and it has superpowers! I spritz a brush, put it in my eyeshadow and your shadow becomes super duper pigmented and even without a primer, stays in place.

If my skin is a little sensitive after a microderm, I also find this great for adding a bit of moisture into my skin before using makeup as it is pretty gentle as well. I can see me buying a full size bottle of this when my little travel one dies. (What does a travel sized / full sized bottle retail for in NZ? I'm so used to paying american prices!)

I had been looking for this product at the Mac counters about 6 months ago but couldn't get my hands on it as they were changing the packaging. A few weeks later on my birthday my friends gave me a Mac voucher and I tried my luck again - and they had them in stock!

The product itself looks beautiful. The black shiny box that it comes with really makes it stand out, it looks classy and sleek and so pretty. The bottle itself is a matte white/clear, you can see inside to see how much product you have left which is a bonus. It also looks so stunning on my makeup table which I love!

Over liquid foundation, the mist doesnt make too much of a difference over it. BUT over powder products (I've used the Mac Studio Fix powder and Australis Fresh and Flawless), the Fix+ settles your powders so well and (almost) makes it look like you're wearing foundation or no makeup at all! It doesnt change the coverage of your makeup, instead just puts everything into place.

Compared to the Austalis finishing mist, the Mac Fix+ doesnt have a strong scent which is nice. The spray bottle also allows for the product to be sprayed onto your face nice and evenly.

This is the only finishing spray I would use when I want my makeup to look good. I trust it and it has given me amazing results so I would definitely repurchase!

After reading everyone's reviews on this product , I don't like to say that I don't like it, but I really don't.. I'm not sure why it doesn't work for me, maybe it's my super oily skin or the foundation I use, but I found it didn't do anything for my skin or my makeup. I tried using it as a pre makeup moisturiser and after as a makeup fix, and it didn't work as either for me. It was a product I really wanted to love, but it didn't work for me. Glad I only bought he travel version.

I love this stuff. It's a finishing mist for your makeup but I tend to use it more as a refreshing mist before and after I put my makeup on. Let me explain....

I like to use it before I put my makeup on, it's a skin refresher/finishing mist so you can use it for a few different things. I prime my face first, let that settle for a bit and then I apply my fix +. I feel like it helps to hydrate my skin and prep it for a beautiful dewy finish.

When I use it after my makeup is done, it's not as a setting spray. I have a handy travel size fix + that fits perfectly into my hand bag which is incredibly handy when you're out and about. Especially if you're like me. When it's hot or when I get nervous, it really shows on my face. I go bright red and start to feel like my makeup is about to melt off my face. This is when the fix + comes in.

It has such a refreshing scent and a cooling sensation when you spritz it on your face. It's really ideal for hot flushes. It instantly cools you down and refreshes your skin at the same time. With the added fanning to help set it, you instantly start to feel better. And because it's actually designed as a setting mist, it'a not going to ruin your makeup. As long as you hold it 12" away from your face it's going to cool/refresh your skin aswell as keep your makeup in place.

I have since gone out and purchased the full size fix + because I really love this product and what it does for my skin. But as soon as my mini one runs out, I will definitely repurchase it. It's so handy to have in your hand bag. You never know when you're going to need it.

OHK so I love the product but hate the packaging!! So lets start with the negative point first, that nozzle!!!! Just thinking about that nozzle makes me grrr!!! When I first started using it, it was great. It sprayed an evenly spread out perfect amount of mist and it felt amazing as it swept across the face, but then over time all of a sudden it would spray big droplets of the liquid in a concentrated area that it felt like I could just go stand outside under the rain drops. And now with about 1/3 left I can press the pump down and only get little spurts of shattered spray of fluid. But apart from that nozzle issue the actual product is amazing. It is so universal, I use it to hydrate the skin, I use it to settle powdered products once applied to my face, I use it to intensify eyeshadows and then use it throughout the day to re-fresh my makeup. It doesn't make the skin greasy looking or clog pores. It's a great product and can see why everyone raves about it but I hope MAC fix the nozzle problem.
