I've been using this for years quite happily and only switched when Colgate brought out a newer version which doesn't contain alcohol.
Having tried both I'd stick with the alcohol-free now (because it seems to be less drying of your tongue and soft tissues) but I had no complaints using this mouthwash before the alcohol-free version was available.
I avoided them for years because I thought the strong smell would translate to a strong taste (gag) and aftertaste. Plus I thought they were an expensive marketing ploy :)
In fact the taste isn't gag-worthy at all and the aftertaste disapates quickly enough.
It seems like an expensive addition to your dental care regime but once you start using it you realise you only need to use a tiny amount if you take a little extra time to properly swish it around every surface in your mouth.
I have tried peppermint and spearmint. Spearmint is my fave, after brushing I use it to get that extra clean mouth and teeth. Refreshing after taste and not as strong flavour wise as peppermint is, spearmint reminds of the white extra chewing gum, yummmy x
