Prep your skin well

After hearing so many great things about this foundation I decided to give it a go. $13 for a foundation is so awesome, but to be honest I didn't have high hopes at first. I don't really love the little applicator wand, I don't use it at all.

It comes in a sturdy glass bottle, I got the lightest shade and find it is not a bad match for my fair skin. I have dry skin and if I don't exfoliate first and prep my skin well it definitely clings to my dry patches.

It is nice and lightweight and does not cake on me, it lasts all day on me and doesn't oxidize at all. It looks pretty good at the end of the day, I really hate having to touch up my foundation during the day so I generally never do this. It does however have an odd paint smell, it doesn't hang around long but I find it unpleasant.

Photo wise it is pretty great, I don't take a lot of pics but on a girls night out I wore this and the pics looked really great! So a definite thumbs up for that. I do really like this foundation but think my skin may be too dry so really need a hydrating foundation. Definitely give it a go and see if it suits your skin.

Great review, it sounds really good and the first question I always ask is whether it is good for those with dry skin. I exfoliate regularly and user primer so hopefully this will be hydrating enough. At $13 what have I got to lose right? lol

Great review. I've heard such high praise for this product, so it's always good to hear from people who have different experiences with it.

Note to the very fair! (Nude Ivory)

This foundation has a great demi-matte finish, is easy to blend and has good medium/build-able coverage. With that being said, the shade range for this particular foundation is not very good. I am very fair (MAC NC15 or preferred NC10) and I found this foundation to be quite dark on me. The different undertones are fantastic, as I usually opt for a more neutral undertone. I used my L.A Girl HD white mixer foundation which helped a lot. The foundation lasts through an 8 hour working day and did not stick to any of my dry patches as I have dry to very dry skin. This foundation works best for me with a damp sponge over a brush as it helps to keep some moisture in my skin

Tips: Use a white mixer such as the L.A Girl HD foundation in White to lighten the shade. For dry skin use a damp sponge over a brush to keep skin hydrated

Affordable foundation

This is a great foundation. It provides medium coverage. It blends well and doesn't feel heavy on the skin. The claims are true, it doesn't give you that flash back when you take photos, so I will always reach for this one if I know I'll be taking photos or going out in the evening to an event where there might be flash photography. The only thing that I don't like about this foundation is that it does smell like paint and it definitely bothered me at first but once you blend it into your skin the smell goes away. So that's just something to be aware of!

Favorite drugstore foundation

My skin is naturally Oily and this stuff helps keep the oil at bay. I do have to apply powder after a few hours but who cares still looks good lol.

This foundation is Medium coverage but you are able to put more on to give it a fuller look. The shade range is pretty good too eve,n if you have to mix two different colors you aren't breaking the bank since they're so affordable.

Smells awful, blends like a dream

I really like this foundation. I'm usually a luxury brand kinda girl for foundations, since I have a pink undertone to my skinny and I often struggle to find a foundation that doesn't make me look hideously orange, or oxidise horrendously.

This is my new fave. I love my MAC and my Lancome, but for the price of 1 of those, I can get 5 of the Wet 'n' Wild, it's kind of no contest!

The component is pretty good, The glass bottle feels sturdy, then spatula is great for getting the product out and applying.

For me, the product is buildable, medium to full coverage, and works really well. It does crease quite badly for me if I don't set it well, but I learned my lesson quite quickly! It smells sort of like kids poster paint on initial application, but the smell goes away pretty quickly (thankfully)!

For $14 at full price, or whatever you can get it for on sale at Farmers, it's pretty unbeatable in my opinion, and it's made me think twice about my super expensive luxury foundation habit!!

Tips: A damp beauty sponge is the way to go- dot the face and dab to blend for a flawless finish. Priming definitely helps with longevity for this one. Make sure you're crease free and set well with powder.

Pretty good

I'm not very experienced with makeup, so this was only the second foundation I'd tried. I found it super easy to use, and was pretty happy with the coverage. I did find it really showed my dry patches, but most foundations I've tried since have

Smells like paint.

This foundation is affordably and has a light shade suitable for my skin tone which was the main reason I purchased. I wished I could have tested it instore first as the smell resembles paint flumes so I couldn't use it more then once. It blended well and sat nicely on my skin but I honestly felt like I was wearing toxic chemicals. The applicator wand is like a mini spatula and I found it a bit messy to use. I'm not sure what all the hype is about as there are definitely nicer supermarket/warehouse foundation's available for $20.

Tips: Test before buying.

Disappointed after all the hype

I heard a LOT of You Tubers tall about how amazing this foundation was. I was super excited to try it as the price tag is amazing! Unfortunately it showed up every pore and line :( I tried with and without primer, different moisturizer and even tried adding an oil. A big pass for me. Maybe my skin is too dry or more suitable for younger skin (38 here). For the price it's not a big investment if you want to try for yourself.

Budget dupe for expensive foundations.

I decided to try this foundation both because I had heard good things about it, and because I found it on sale! This review is for the shade “Rose Ivory”.

The Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation comes in a square clear glass bottle with a black plastic lid. The bottle is 30ml. Attached to the lid is a paddle-shaped applicator. The flat-sided applicator allows you to wipe off any excess product onto the side of the bottle’s opening. I like to then apply to the applicator directly onto my face and then blend the foundation out with a beauty sponge. The foundation is easy to blend. The coverage is medium to full, and it gives a slightly dewy finish, which I like. The shade “Rose Ivory” is also a perfect match for my pale skin.

My skin is dry, sensitive, and I have fine lines. The Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation does not irritate my skin. It also does not look cakey, blends well, sits nicely over my moisturise, and it does not sink into my fine lines. I have been setting this with a powder and setting spray after application, but I will still say that it lasts well throughout the day and does not shift, oxidise, or rub off. The only drawback is the smell. The foundation smells very much of chemicals, although it is not noticeable once it is applied.

Altogether I am very satisfied with this foundation. I think it gives the formula from more expensive brands a run for their money I definitely recommend it if you are on the hunt for a cheaper equivalent for more expensive foundation.

Flashback-free pictures

I’ve been using this product on and off for over a year and it’s one I’d happily repurchase for the summer time. I bought this for $USD4.99 from the Wet n Wild website (using a forwarding address) before the brand was available in NZ. I mainly bought this because I’ve been haunted by my pics where there is horrendous flashback. I bought the shade Caramel and in summer it’s perfect but I need to go down a shade in winter.

It comes in a sturdy glass jar which fits in the palm of my hand along with a plastic spatula applicator. I’m not too fond of the applicator because as you start to near the end of the product it’ll take more than just a spatula to get the product at the bottom.

It’s a liquid formula that’s not too runny and doesn’t dry too quickly so that you have enough time to spread the product over your face. It provides some coverage which you can build up so for people like myself that are trying to go for a more natural look this would be perfect.

When I first apply the product (I dot my fingers with the spatula – that’s how minimal I’m going with my makeup) it doesn’t look too promising. The shade and finish tends to look a little off at the start but once it’s blended in it seems to work with the warmth of my skin as well as the oils to settle nicely into my skin.

The finish leans more towards a natural finish that is not overly matte. By the 6th hour it’s only just starting to take on a more dewy finish which I can extend if I set my face with powder at the start. The foundation photographs beautifully with no flashback just a natural looking face of makeup. Note that I've only taken pics with Apple/Samsung phones and Canon camera.

For the price point and how well it performs on my oily skin I would recommend this to those going for makeup with some coverage and wanting a night of photos that won’t haunt them.
