I am a big MAC fan. I dont know if its the "forbidden fruit" appeal, as it is so difficult to get in the South Island, or if it's because its what all the girls use in the make up tutorials on youtube but I LOVE my MAC lippy. I only have two, Ruby Woo and Impassioned (which I wear as often as possible) but I dearly love them. The only downside about the Ruby Woo is because it is a Matte finish it can be incredibly drying on my lips. But the pigments are amazing, they stay put on my lips and the colours are to die for. Tips: Make sure your lips are super hydrated before wearing a Matte lippy, and maybe save it for a dinner or a night out where you arent wearing it for hours and hours because I find it can sometimes become a bit crumbly and really dry but this might just be on my lips! Give them a good exfoliate regularly too!
The selection of M.A.C lipsticks is so huge, that there is easily a shade to fit everyone. I do love my lipsticks from them but I do find that it really depends on the finish.
Tips: Some of the matt finishes are a bit drying on the lips, so I use a bit of moisturiser on my lips beforehand before using them. Kinda Sexy - perfect natural lip shade.
I have really enjoyed the matte Mac lipsticks I've had (Please Me and Ruby Woo) as they have vibrant colour and are long lasting. However, they tend to be quite dry on the lips and do not always leave a smooth finish.
Tips: Use a lip scrub and a small coating of lip balm to smooth your lips and this will help make a smooth finish and also make sure your lips are hydrated. For the Ruby Woo especially which is quite a dry lipstick - the lip balm before hand is a must.
I got a shade that is not an everyday colour for me as its orange, having said that, it applies well and stays on nicely and doesn't dry my lips out so i like it
I love the range of MAC lipsticks but find them not so good if I have the slightest dry lip, it tends to stick very badly to it. When my lips are soft I tend to wear this brand more
I like MAC lipsticks. I think for the price it isn't exactly worth it. I think it really depends on the finish and colour you choose. I have a few colours that I love and some that I think were a complete waste of money. I have Ruby Woo which is drying but lasts a very long time and looks amazing! The other colours I have that I love are candy yum yum, girl about town and rebel And the smell is an added bonus
Tips: Do your research look up swatches and reviews on specific colours. Use balms with matte lipsticks. If you want to save money can order off the MAC US website and use the NZ post Youpost service please note it takes from 1-3 weeks to arrive!
Not a necessity (you can get similar performance and quality from cheaper brands) but a MAC lipstick is a nice splurge if you feel like treating yourself - just make sure you are going for a colour that is worth the money and isn't easily dupeable by a cheaper brand to make sure you get your moneys worth. Always well pigmented, long lasting and delicious to wear with their creamy spicy indulgent vanilla scent. My picks are MAC Modesty (cremesheen which is a gorgeous nude brown pinky mauve), Twig (the perfect nude rose pink) and my all time fave Honey Love (the most perfectly balanced beige/brown/tan/pink/peach nude matte formula).
I now have five Mac lippies, I love the colours, and they are so creamy and smell yummy. They don't seem to last very well, I have to apply quite regularly, but the colour range makes up for it, some of the colours just aren't available in any other cosmetic range.
Tips: Use a lipliner to make your lippies last longer, use the same colour as your lipstick and fill in your lips first.
So pigmented, but doesnt come off smoothly. It's a matte shade but coverage is not full enough so have to apply with some form of lip primer or lipgloss afterwards. Otherwise I love it!
I love the range of colours and lustres that MAC have in their lipstick range, you would never struggle to find something to suit. The mattes are my favourite but can be very drying and don't have a huge amount of staying power. I always apply a good lip balm underneath before application. My absolute favourites are Real Redhead, Ruby Woo, Diva and Doe.
Tips: If you can, buy the matching the lip liner to help with staying power.
