****This trial opportunity has closed****

It's Hair Removal week at BR and we're on a mission to banish unwanted body hair.  We've got some amazing trials as well as a very cool competition coming this week so stay tuned!  First up we're putting the original handheld epilation device to the test.

When it comes to wanting a longer lasting result, your at-home hair removal choices are waxing or epilation.

We break down the pros and cons of the four popular at-home hair removal methods here.  Both waxing and epilating boast up to 4 weeks of smoothness in exchange for a little pain.  They are also both the more time efficient way to remove hair.  Where they differ is that epilation doesn't affect the skin in the same way as waxing (which requires a wax to be applied directly to the surface of the skin) so epilation is considered best for sensitive skin.

The Epilady Jewel (RRP:$210) features an innovative circular spiral.  The rotating coil vibrates at a high spead and quickly removes hair with precision and efficiency.  It has two speeds and is rechargable - meaning you can get down to business without pesky cords getting in the way!

We're looking for 10 great reviewers to put The Epilady Jewel to the test and to report back to us with their verdict.

If you're lucky enough to nab a spot on this trial team, here's some tips:

  1. Skin should be clean and dry, free from body lotions and potions.
  2. Stretch the skin taut in the area you're focusing on.
  3. Use circular motions and focus on one small area at a time.

To put your hand up for this trial you'll need to take a really quick survey for us, so we can pick the best candidates for the job.

So, what is your preference when it comes to semi-permanent hair removal?  Have you tried epilation before and if so did you like the results?

I really want to try epilation. I usually shave because I can do it in the shower etc but i really want something that will keep the hair away for longer because when shaving it only lasts a day or two in my case. So hopefully if I tried epilation it would mean I could go longer without having to maintain.

I chose epilation, even though I haven't tired epilation or waxing before, but out of the two options epilation is the one I would like to try, I have always wanted to try epilation for a long time now, but haven't had enough money to fork out and invest in one. I have sensitive skin, so waxing is usually not an option as I'm afraid I'd get a reaction or irritation. I get fed up with shaving sometimes because it doesn't last long and I often get shaving rash and irritation. I often pluck my underarms too, to avoid irritation. There's nothing worse than itchy underarms all day. But plucking takes forever! It would be so much easier and faster if I had an epilator. I really must invest in a epilator, and if the reviews are positive I may consider buying the epilady jewel.

Haven't tried Epilation before, have heard mixed reviews about it hurting so unsure of whether I would try it.

Tried waxing at home once.. it hurt! I can't even rip a plaster off my arms so I have no idea what I was thinking in trying to do my legs LOL :)

I haven't really tried either, being a shave in the shower girl, but I would be open to trying both with preference to epilation as it seems alot easier to do it yourself.

Haven't used Epilady before, Have tried waxing before to have half of my skin removed from my leg and was in pain for days afterwards ever since then have never considering using anything else but a good razor

26th August, 2014

I've found waxing at home very hit & miss, more often than not I end up having to shave as well to get the bits I missed! Would love to give epilation a go

26th August, 2014

I have always wanted to try epilating ever since I saw my flat mate do it last year!!! It would be cheaper than waxing in the long run and last longer than shaving! I don't mind waxing though, but epilating seems like it would be more hassle free! Would love to try epilating :)

Really do hope I can try this! Looks so good! Pain shmain I want smooth legs! :L

Wow, this is a very retro epilator going way back to when they first came out on the market. I much prefer the newer ones with the rotating tweezers than the coil.

26th August, 2014

I haven't tried either of these... so I don't really have a preference, but I would actually LIKE to try both, just to see if I can tolerate the pain lol

26th August, 2014

Have never tried epilating before it should be interesting - I see all the comments about the pain - It's making me have second thoughts about trying it lol!

26th August, 2014

I've been waxing and shaving for aages and I've never actually tried epilation but many say its worse than waxing so no thank-you! Far too terrified :P

I would give it a go if it works on your upper lip? I'm allergic to most facial waxes and it would prevent me finding a new place to get threaded!

Regardless, I think whoever these 10 lucky(?!) ladies are, a 'first impressions' video should definitely be compulsory!

25th August, 2014

I have tried both waxing and epilation. I prefer epilation. My epilator is quite old, but was great when I first got it - it came with different nozzles that did different areas and included a nozzle for beginners, that reduced the number of hairs being pulled out at once. I've searched high and low but it seems they don't make those ones any more. So I am on the lookout for a new one.

25th August, 2014

I shave for convenience but love the results of waxing... and pain doesn't worry me. I do remember my mother using an Epilady when I was a little girl, I would love to try one myself.

I am happy with shaving here :)
