What must it be like to find a skin care regime you like and stick to it? We imagine a simpler, easier life. One not filled with nail-biting worry about whether your skin will breakout or react in some way to new products. Still, we beauty junkies can't be stopped from experimenting - and every now and then we find something fab that sees us remain true to a product. What's given us a taste of the loyalties this year? Check these out...

BR Merilyn

L'Oréal Paris Revitalift Laser x3 Serum

How did we live without serums? More importantly... how did I survive without this one? L'Oréal have knocked it out of the park with Revitalift Laser x3. Since using it I've seen a visible difference in my skin. It loads my skin up with hydration, plumping up fine lines and I feel like the texture of my skin has improved. I do like to change up my skin care, but this is a keeper.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo Plus

My stand out skincare find of 2018 has become a daily staple. La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo Plus is a mind-blowing product wrapped in one enigma of a tube.  When these first landed at BRHQ, I think it's fair to say, we were all a bit miffed about what it actually was. Even moi, the French speaker of the crew couldn't shed any light on how to use this product after reading the packaging. After a bit of experimenting, I've settled on the fact that this is a thick serum in a tube. I use it after cleansing and before moisturising. The difference to my skin since introducing this one product is immense. Smooth. Soft. Blackhead free. Oil remains firmly at bay, all day long.  My nose crevices don't flake. Ever. My moisturiser soaks in beautifully leaving the perfect canvas for makeup.  Actually. I'm changing my definition of what exactly the Effaclar Duo Plus is. For me. It's still a thick serum in a tube, but its also a mattifying primer that doesn't dull your skin. Hands down. I don't know how my skin ever survived without it!

Evolu Rehydration Rescue Masque

This isn't new, but it's new to me... and I don't know how Iived without it in my life. Evolu's Rehydration Rescue Masque is my skin's guardian angel. I pop it on at night on those days where my skin's so dry I could be mistaken for a mummified corpse, when my acne's having a flare up, or when I just need a boost... and I wake up the next day and my skin just looks better. Plumper, fresher, renewed. It's like magic. I'm a bit of a skin care maverick and find it hard to stay committed to any particular product, but I'll be staying true to this pretty!

L'Oréal Pure-Clay Purifying Charcoal Mask

Hellooooo skin saviour. You know those days when you wake up and your face looks like an oil slick and your pores are like portals to another world and you feel like your skin went out partying three days solid even though you've just done your usual get up, go to work, sleep by ten routine? This will help fix it. At least, it fixes me. I pop the black goop of goodness on, let it sit, then stare in the mirror marvelling at how the oily bits remain a deep black compared to the dry grey bits, wash it off - and there you have it. A brighter, better looking moi. I don't use it all the time as it would dry my skin out too much, but on those blah skin days it's become my ultimate skin pick-me-up.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Ultra SPF 50+

I've tried so many new skin care products this year, but none rocked my world more than La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Ultra SPF 50+. AKA the greatest facial sunscreen in the world. I love everything about this product, including the ridiculously cute container. The thing to bear in mind with this product is it looks small, which makes it seem expensive; but a little goes a long way. You can slip, slap, slop this and actually not use very much at all! For those of us with sensitive skin, this sunscreen has no near-rivals. I don't think I've tried a sunscreen so lightweight with such a powerful SPF.  It's non-greasy and I've encountered absolutely no irritation. I can't recommend this enough!

So... are any of our skin care picks your hits? What's given your skin loads of love in 2018? Go on... hit us up with your recommendations. See if you can tempt us to stray in 2019...

My favorites last year were and still are Manuka Biotic day cream which is very light, easily absorbed and so nourishing, Akeso organics face oil which smells divine and is super for anti ageing and Triology serum.

L’Oréal revitalist serum! It’s like instant hydration in a bottle!

I tried Garnier Micellar water for the first time recently and absolutely love it. It’s gentle enough for my sensitive skin yet it still does the job & is great at removing all traces of makeup and leaves my skin feeling clean & smooth.

I love the Olive Brightening Face Moisturiser . I put it on in the morning before work and it lifts my mood and actually brightens my day. It has little luminescent colouring so it gives your face a real sparkle (but not obvious). It has a slightly sticky consistency at first but runs in really well. I love the pump bottle, and miss it when I run out

I love the l'oreal clay mask the charcoal sure does brighten my skin and after my skin feels pure from the detoxing

My absolute fave by far is Evolu Regenerative Overnight Cream and Evolu toner rebalancing facial mist. My skin is soooo good like I don't even wear foundation anymore good. No dryness, minimal redness and my pores are nearly non-existent. I am in love and the over pricing of them doesn't stop me from repurchase.

My fave this year has to be the Goodness Everyday Cream Cleanser. Game changer for me. I have acne prone skin and this year I have had less breakouts and my skin has been alot clearer than it has ever been.

I've been religiously using Trilogy's rosehip oil and cannot praise it enough! makes my skin feel hydrated and boosted my skin immensely!

Mine has been the ordinary hylaronic acid. I’ve noticed such a bjg change in my skin, it helps all of my other skincare absorb better. I have barely had any breakouts since stating to use it!

Bump eraiser Medi paste. Not a new discovery but when I went on the hunt to find something to replace it, I couldn't find anything as good. I use it for killing mean zits in my chin area and nothing else is as powerful.

My skincare discovery for 2018 would have to be La Roche-Posay's Toleriane daily moisturiser. It does not irritate my skin at all, absorbs really quickly, and leaves my skin feeling so soft and non-greasy. You don't even need to use that much. A little goes a long way!

l'occitane youth oil. i hate how much i love it. i only used it twice last year and i already love it so much. damn it being $160 for 30 ml!!!

The Ordinary's Vitamin C LAA 30% in Silicone actually lightened some really stubborn sunspots on my face. Given the price and the fact that despite not having used it for a few months but those sunspot haven't gone back to how dark they were it's a winner. Now before you rush to buy it, I should let you know that it stung my face daily for the first week and a half till my skin built tolerance and if I skipped applying it for more than a day or two I did feel some very slight tingling on my next application. Also I did lose some brightness I had when I was consistently applying it but it's been one of the most effective treatments I've come across for my hyperpigmentation. If you skin isn't sensitive (and you will have to build tolerance to this even if you have normal skin) and you can commit to the stinging for say 15 minutes a day for a week and a half then it's worth a try.

My favourite skin products for 2018 are definitely hydrating face masks and lush bath bombs...omg i have so many its a little hard to put one at the top so i have chosen two!
