It's not often I'm left gobsmacked by much of anything in the beauty realm these days. OTT dirty names for cosmetics? Not my favourite, but hardly going to make me gasp. Lipsticks that look like male appendages? Eh, no biggie. But recently I was left genuinely flummoxed. To the point that I had to check the date to make sure I hadn't travelled back in time to April Fool's Day.
So what was it that left my jaw on the floor? The release of a collaboration between Nails Inc and Velveeta. Velveeta, if you didn't know, is processed cheese, and while a food brand collaborating with a makeup brand isn't anything new, what set this apart is that the nail polish was... wait for it... chese scented.

Now, I don't know about you, but not once in my life have I ever thought 'gosh, I'd love my nails to smell of cheese'. In fact, truth be told, I don't like my nail polishes to be scented full stop. Strawberry scented, grape scented, mint scented - it's all big no from me. Few things grate me more than trying to get to sleep, my hands curled up by my face, than a chemical-smelling fragrance wafting up my nose, sending the sleep fairies scurrying.
In fact, any kind of scented cosmetic gives me a case of the squirms. I currently own two such products, one a chocolate scented bronzer, the other a rose scented blush. How often do they get used? Never.
As for the collab's success? They've already sold out once and had to restock. So whether it's the collectibility factor, the intrigue, or a genuine love of cheese, it turns out there's a market for cheese scented nail polish... even if it gets the big no way from yours truly.
But what about you?

I have never tried scented nail polish, but would give it a go. Maybe not cheese smell though...lol. Something fruity might be nice.
