This week at Beauty Review, we're all about getting clean with Simple!  Our aim is to convince everyone that finding the right cleanser is essential for their skincare routine.

Yesterday we featured the Simple Micellar Water and today we're showcasing something completely different. A Cleansing Oil.

Those that have already discovered, and fallen in love with cleansing oils, will no doubt think of them as the superhero of facial cleansers.  They not only cleanse the skin, they do what many other gentle cleansers can't - they thoroughly remove make up.  You might be wondering how on earth slathering oil on your face can clean it right?  We know it seems backwards but read on!

Your skin is always producing and secreting sebum, even when it feels dry and flaky it's still producing natural oils.  If your cleanser is too harsh, it will not only clean your face, but strip it of natural oils - your skin then thinks it's not making enough and begins to overproduce oil.  Now if you have oily or acne prone skin you're probably thinking the last thing you would want to do is add more oil.  This is where a little scientific premise comes in.  Like dissolves like.  So when you use a cleansing oil, the oils in the product dissolve and remove all the built up dirty oil and replace it with fresh, nourishing oil.

It's important to use cleansing oils correctly - you use them differently from foaming cleansers.  You apply the product to dry skin using your hands, massaging in nice upwards motions.  Leave the oil for a minute or so before adding a little water, then rinse with warm water.  Voila, clean, balanced and healthy skin!

We're putting Simple Kind to Skin Hydrating Cleansing Oil to the test. Made of 100% pure grape-seed oil this product gives a deep cleanse without leaving a greasy feel.  Like all Simple products it's perfect for sensitive skin with no harsh chemicals, no artificial fragrances or colours.

Sounds pretty good right?  So if you fancy a place on this trial team, why not tell us if you've ever tried a cleansing oil before?  If you haven't, why not?  Does the whole concept seem too strange for you?  How effective is your current cleansing routine and do you think switching to an oil would prove more beneficial?

I have never used an oil cleanser for my face but I would love to test one out :)

22nd February, 2017

I have never used an oil cleanser and would love to trial this. My skin is mature so would be curious to see if it would help retain moisture.

I have never used an oil cleaner before! To be honest I always thought oil-based products would make my skin feel oily - but after speaking to a salesperson about this in my local pharmacy a couple of days ago, I'm pretty keen to give it a go. I have really dry (and aging!) skin so I am really interested in anything that may be hydrating (and cleansing!).

21st February, 2017

I haven't really come across one before, I have used micellar water and have thought about using an oil/water micellar but haven't yet, so I would like to give it a go!

I have never tried a cleansing oil before, just because the brands I normally use don't have a cleansing oil option. I have read reviews that say they are really, really good. I would probably use this as the first step of a double cleanse because just the thought of being able to slather your face with oil feels divine, then washing off with a foaming cleanser.

I'd be interested to try an oil based cleanser to see if it would be good as a makeup remover, especially for eye makeup...

20th February, 2017

Ooo I'm really interested to try this. I've done all other types of cleansers to try and find my perfect match and I've been using facial oils for moisturising so I don't see why oil cleansers can't be great as well. Especially for dry skin like mine - I feel as though it might not be as harsh as the other cleansers that I've used. If it's good for my skin then I definitely want to give it a go!

Yes I have used almond oil as a night cleanser, it made my skin look beautiful when I woke up but I looked a bit shiny before bed.

20th February, 2017

I've tried cleansing oil and I'm down to my two bottles from Garnier. I tried it a year ago and loving it. Would love to try this!

Oh I have never tried or really heard of a oil cleanser. I am intrigued to try it though. It sounds a bit backwards using an oil to cleanse the skin tbh!

I have acne prone oily sensitive skin . This product frightens and entices me equally ! I would definitely to give it a go although I'd consider it no less than a miracle if this works for my skin . Would love a trial !

19th February, 2017

I have never tried a cleansing oil before as I have always thought it would not be cleansing enough like removing make up but I have to say I am a bit curious now after reading the article and others comments, so yes I would like to give it a go.

I loooove Simple products! Currently I use their moisturising face wash but would love to give this a go. I have tried two oil cleansers so far one was good the other useless. I wear pretty heavy make up and find oil cleansers an amazing way to take it off.

I have never tried and oil cleanser but would love to! I currently use charcoal soap which is great but very drying.

18th February, 2017

I've never used an oil cleanser buts it's definitely been on my list to try! I've wanted to try oil cleansers ever since people here on BR started raving about the ZA oil cleanser. I've used various types of make up removers including, wipes, balms, coconut oil, liquid solution and micellar water so I'd been keen to see how this oil cleanser compares. If I'm not on his trial I'm definitely going to look out for the reviews.
