You might know by now, I'm a pom and while I miss home there are so many things about this beautiful country that we don't get to experience much back home.

One of these things is those local brands, that although established on our store shelves, still hold firmly on to their roots - using natural ingredients from the land around them.  New Zealand, with it's varied agriculture, horticulture, viticulture and all manner of -cultures in between is the perfect country to be a fan of home grown beauty products!

The brand we're featuring today is Oxygen - at least every Oxygen product contains the hugely beneficial organic hop extract grown on their own organic hop farm.  You really can't get more home grown than that!

We're putting Oxygen's Organic Eye Creme to the test.  This lovely product is suitable for all skin types.

This effective eye creme is loaded with a wonderful ingredient called cyathea cumingii leaf extract, a species of NZ fern that is sustainably grown. When dry, it leads to an immediate decrease of wrinkle depth, creating a smoother under eye appearance. IT also contains aloe vera to soothe and hydrate.

If you'd like to trial this product why not tell us what types of ingredients you look for in your beauty products?  Do you actively seek for New Zealand grown ingredients?  Do you buy organic when you can, or does it not impact your decision at all?

Get chatting below - we might just send you one to try!

Sounds like a great product - and I'm in the market for an eye cream too! I don't generally make a point of buying organic, but it is something that interests me.

I definitely prefer to buy local brands where possible, and the same with organic... I just like the idea of less polluting chemicals but still after maximum effect from the product.

Where possible I try to support NZ brands especially natural products that are good for my skin cause I know I don't have to worry about anything harsh on my skin and like I said I am supporting my own back yard before the rest of the world. I do have a new love of Skin Food and have bought the whole set so I am a believer :D

While it probably is a good idea to support nz businesses and utilise home grown products, when it comes to my own personal buying decisions this doesn't influence what I buy. I generally go by reviews and what I have used in the past!

Home grown products to me are important, I try to buy mx made and support our economy, I prefer the way we do things, in terms of a good clean quality product, things that set us apart from a lot of companies is our clean green image. Hand creams that are sold in boutique type stores showcase some of the best NZ has to offer, and I am sure this eye cream will also benefit that.

Where I can I buy home grown but cost does become a factor. Home grown gives you a little more trust in it being more wholesome.

Homegrown? I always try to give preference to any local products, whether they be foodstuffs, manufactured items or personal care goods. Charity begins at nome, however when that charity is a great deal more costly then all aspects must be considered. Our clean and natural image must be valued, and the beauty care people can lead the way.

I love the organic types with the natural scent of the ingredients...I have seasonal skin :/ and am terrified of what products I use on my face as I don't break out. I am still on the lookout for the perfect product.

But, if it is NZ Grown, Organic it must most certainly have to be Eco Friendly too.

I think supporting nz products/ingredients is essential.

I always look for fragrance free, not because my skin is sensitive but because fragrance gives me headaches. I would love to buy more NZ products and more organic products but unfortunately both are usually too expensive for me.

I didn't care in the past, but now I'll go for NZ made... and organic if I can. It's important to support our own producers and our economy, and worth paying a little bit extra for good healthy products. I love anything from Trilogy, Scullys and The Herb Farm!!

I try to buy NZ made products as I feel I can trust them more, if they are organic then that is a bonus :)

14th November, 2014

I try and support NZ brands but for some products I've found NZ doesn't have a comparable match yet. I do like when I can read a label and know what is in the product though and we do seem to be much better than some other countries with organic products.

If I can I support NZ brands but I don't go seeking just NZ products.. Wow this eye cream sounds like what I need does anyone know where you can purchase it from? :)
