With a number of our gorgeous Beauty Review Members trialling the Schick Hydro Silk we thought it might be timely to give you luscious ladies some tips on how to get that close, smooth shave!

The right tools for the right job

For those of you on the trial fingers crossed you have the right tool! For those of us waiting for the reviews......try and find a razor that contains a moisture strip to help that razor glide down your legs! Also replace your blades, they do dull down over time so about every 5-6 uses is a good time to replace them.

Scrub a dub dub

Giving your legs, or wherever else you are shaving a good loofah means that you’re removing that skin allowing your razor to get that much closer to the root of the hairs. It also means your legs are going to silky smooth!

Wet is best

It’s a fact that wet hairs are softer, more pliable and thus a lot easier for the razor to cut! So before you reach for that razor, relax in the shower for a couple of minutes and let those hairs soak up that water.

Shave in the right direction

Start at your ankle and move up, making small short strokes. By shaving against the growth of the hair you’ll be lifting that hair up and cutting as close to the skin as possible.

Top it off with a little lotion

While you may be tempted to rub that lotion on as soon as you step out of the shower it’s best to wait around 20 minutes this helps reduce any stinging effect you may experience. Also try and avoid any lotions that may contain alcohol because they can cause irritation and those nasty red razor bumps *Shudder*

Right those are our tips.......Have a little gem you wanna share with your fellow beauty lovers?

Really love all those tips, i always use a loofa first before shaving and find that it really does make a difference.

Anyone have tips on preventing ingrown hairs? when exfoliation doesn't do the trick :)

It's funny you should say wet is best - whilst this makes perfect sense (I've also heard that warmer water helps get a closer have), I always get a much closer shave when I dry shave i.e. using soap and razor out of the shower - usually when I have forgotten I am heading out and am in desperate need of fur removal! Maybe it's because I am more rushed in the shower when I shave than when I am 'leg up on the bathroom sink' shaving...

Have you tried a hair removal mitt? It is like a really fine sandpaper - you buff the hairs away. I am inclined to get ingrown hairs and find that if I alternate between shaving and buffing I have no problem at all.

Thanks Ceyris, I will give that a go :)
