What is the main reason you use a body lotion?

Body lotions are often left on the bathroom shelf and only used when we remember, or if we notice a part of our body being more dry than usual.  They're also a bit of an underrated product - they make our skin smooth, but can they really bring anything else to the table?

YES!

Just like our face, the skin covering the rest of our body benefits from TLC and from products that target it's issues. We should pay attention to the key ingredients in our body products just as we would for our face, and pick ingredients that will best fit our skin's needs.

There are so many reasons to use a body lotion so it's not surprising it can take testing a few products to find the one perfect for you.  So what are the benefits of a good body lotion?

  • To re-hydrate dried skin - it doesn't matter if its Summer or Winter, our skin needs hydration.  Dry skin flakes, chaps and cracks and can become irritated easily.  A moisturising lotion used daily will help soften and prevent further chafings.
  • To replenish extra dry or rough spots on the skin - elbows, knees, feet - they're all prone to being dry or rough.  Daily moisturising with a replenishing lotion can soften out these rough spots.
  • To feel good and relax - Nothing feels lovlier on tired and aching limbs than a nice, cool body lotion (except maybe having someone else to rub the lotion in!).
  • To smell good - ok we have deodorants, fragrances, body sprays, so why use a lotion to smell good?  A subtle, all over smell that isn't going to have your loved ones gasping for air!

We're putting the gorgeous Evolu Smoothing Body Lotion to the test.  Combining active botanicals this lotion will refine, soften and hydrate your skin, improving surface texture and promoting healthy circulation.

It's especially suitable for dry skin and targeting problem areas such as elbows, knees and heels, this lightweight lotion is readily absorbed, leaving your skin feeling smooth, softened and refreshed, with a divine natural scent and no oily after-feel.

The natural ingredients are expertly chosen and combined together create a body lotion that is anything but ordinary.

  • New Zealand pure spring water
  • Pure essential oils of Sweet Orange to rejuvenate and renew the skin.
  • New Zealand Kanuka brings anti-inflammatory and soothing properties.
  • Lemon cools and purifies.
  • Lime is detoxifying and offers anti water-retention
  • Ylang Ylang is balancing and soothing
  • Sweet Almond and Avocado are rich in nutritive vitamins.

So tell us all about why you use a body lotion, do you simply slather it on when you need to - when your skin is already dry, or do you use it every day?  Is it ust the moisturising properties you look for in a body lotion?  Most importantly - have you found the perfect one yet?

I use it every day on my arms, and then in summer most days on my legs - I don't like the appearance of my skin without it.

I love using body lotiins but get a bit forgetful...my skin is so dry on my body, its annoyingly flaky! I have to use body butters to combat this but then I find that they sometimes get into my clothes! Im yet to find a body lotion that doesn't have a strong scent and moisturises the whole day!

With getting older I've really noticed more dryness of my skin so I use body lotion to help combat this but I'm not great at remembering to use it every day, but noticing dry patches prompts me to get back to the routine

I have used body lotions in the past but most of the time find them time consuming and a bit too thin. I would love my mind to be changed though because I do feel that I neglect the rest of my skin sometimes. I have found in the past that lotions can be quite thin unless I am using the wrong brands. I use it when I feel like my body needs a boot of moisture but really it should be everyday.

I use body lotion daily, I hate having scale skin on my legs, especially in the summer, and I always feel they look more toned once you have a decent moisturiser on them. I also apply to my elbows each night as I get into bed, I don't like the way some people's elbows look like elephant skin, so I try to avoid letting them get to tough. I always chose a nice rich lotion, with a decent fragrance, so that I smell nice when we snuggle on the sofa.

for me it's part of a routine, either prep for the day or relaxing at night, with a side benefit of softer, nicer smelling skin

I use lotion everyday because of my dry skin! Hope to try this brand soon!

I use a body moisturizer after each shower. I have sensitive, dry skin that gets red blotches and itchy easily. Because of that I'm a tad picky about the body moisturizers that I purchase. I look for ones that are going to hydrate and moisturize my skin but also possibly soothe it so I'm not itchy afterwards. I would love to trial this body lotion and since it has soothing ingredients.

I usually just use body lotion after I shave my legs, and usually what I apply is a tinted moisturiser because I like to look a little tanner than I actually am! I have a number of body shop body butters which I find really greasy so I don't use them a lot. I don't particularly have many other lotions so my poor skin just puts up with the tinted moisturiser on a not-often-enough basis! I really need to get into the habit of doing it every day so my skin doesn't suffer from thirst as much! When trying moisturisers I would look for ones that don't smell to strongly but still have a nice scent to them, and ones that don't leave my skin feeling greasy.

i use lotion all the time i like to have soft skin and i think if you don't hydrate your skin its like not drinking enough water. But i do feel like your skin gets used to lotions so i try to mix them up a bit and also depending on the season also. I like the scents and textures also it not just about the moisture effect :)

I use body lotion when I remember to! Usually when I see my skin is dry and needing some love and attention :) I am yet to find the perfect body lotion though.

I use it daily, after showering or before dressing and again in the evening before bed as my skin always gets very dry and because I get a bit of eczema and dermatitis from time to time I have to be careful to use a good quality, natural product that wont irritate my skin and keep it hydrated at all times! I like something that has a good oil or fat in it, like coconut or avocado or shea butter and somethine soothing is always a bonus, like calendula or similar. Love Evolu products, haven't used their body products - YET!

I really, really need to start making body lotion a regular thing - especially now as summer body prep starts, haha. I'm more of a when my skin is already dry yet kinda person and normally at night so it has lots of time to get to work while I sleep. I like something light and not overly greasy or else I feel claustrophobic.

I moisturise my body when I have the energy too lol. I'm a single mother and work long hours so I'm up extremely early and shower really late once my daughters are in bed and I've attempted house. My body is super neglected - I moisturise maybe once a week :/ Pre-children, I would moisturise twice a day, but since I don't show my body - just my face and hands lol, i only moisturise those areas. Would love to give this a go - my knees and elbows are screaming for hydration and this mama is just too tired to be spending time to moisturise twice a day. This sounds like something very moisturising and something I could make Myself get into every night

I use lots of body lotions for my dry skin and have tried multiple brands. I'm currently using Dove purely pampering nourishing lotion. My feet and legs get extremely dry.
