St Ives Apricot Scrub

I used to use this scrub every day for years, and I loved it, my face felt smooth, however I did notice the size of my pores getting larger over time. I went to a dermatologist and she advised me to stop using St Ives as is is far too harsh and that was the cause of my bad pores. I haven't used it for almost a year now and my skin and pores have never been better. I know this is the top rated face scrub on the market and it is a really reasonable price but just not worth it in the long run. In saying this though, I do still use it on my body and its perfect for this especially before tannning and I think it also has helped me with in grown hairs!

Tips: Perfect for the body, not so much the face.

Sandpaper in a bottle

This is an amazing exfoliant dont get me wrong, but it should be used for body only!! The beads in this are FAR too rough for your face. Washing your face with a cleanser and flannel if you dont have a gentle exfoliant is far better for your face.

Great Smell but...

This product smells amazing, however almost everything else about it isn't great. It's thick and gloopy and it dries out my skin even only using it twice a week.

Not great for sensitive skin

The title says it all. This scrub is anything but excellent for someone who has sensitive skin. Invigorating is a good use of words for the product as it invigorates the skin and can dry the skin out. From someone with extremely sensitive skin I do not recommend this product.

A product to be avoided

This scrub is far too harsh for your face. The walnut shells and apricot cores are rough and cause damage to your skin with the sharp uneven edges. You shouldn't exfoliate every day as it's damaging to your skin also. I would never use this again, maybe on my feet.

Tips: Ditch the apricot scrub! If you must do physical exfoliation use something with round beads, and definitely not daily. OR use the more effective chemical exfoliants

st ives apricot

Nononono. SO MUCH NO! This product is so harsh :(. Acne: ruptured pustules and spreading infection. Blackheads: it can't penetate the pore, so all it does is dehydrate and exacerbate oil flow and lead to more blackheads, as well as red, damaged capillaries. Sensitivity: see previous comment about capillaries. Those crushed shell pieces are jagged and sharp, and they actually tear your poor skin. Don't do it!!! Jojoba beads are as rough as you need to go for physical exfoliants.

Tips: Use it on your body, not your face. I've so many clients coming in with various skin issues and they pretty much all over scrub their skin with products like this. You're better off using very gentle physical combined with ahas and bhas. If you're acneic, don't use any form of physical exfoliant. Stick to gentle gelexfoliants- salicylic acid especially is great for congestion and pustules.

Usually the best results are gained from combining gentle physical and aha/bhas

It depends entirely on your skin concerns, but regardless, jojoba esters (jojoba "beads") are physically as harsh as you should go. As I said above, anything harsher will cause irritation with all the above concerns .

Not For Me

This was a very harsh product for me, it caused my skin to feel very tight and dry. It also led to break outs, I was only using it twice a week, but had to discontinue after two weeks.

The texture is very coarse and thick, you would only need small amount to cleanse - a bottle would last a long time, so quite cost effective it it works for you.

It's supet dehydrating which leads to tightness and exacerexacerbated oil flow which makes you break out, then when used over the breakouts, it scratches and spreads them. No one should use it, ever!

Ouch!

This scrub is very rough, the particles in the scrub are large too. I bought this product and only used it once as it left my skin feeling raw and dry. I will be sticking to the St Ives Microdermabrasion which has much finer granules.

Tips: Try the St Ives Microdermabrasion scrub if you have sensitive skin.

I have been using st ives since puberty. And recently purchased this and I applied in the shower waiting for it to do its thing i read the back and read Warning stay out of the sun this product makes you sensitive to sun burning which = skin aging.

Tips: buy a pumice and use sukin's cleansers for all you vegans and beauty conscious ladies.

Some essential oils (such as the citrus ones) cause photosensitivity so it may be an ingredient like that.

Definitely sunscreen is a must regardless if you are using products that make you sensitive to our natural source of light. This was just my natural opinion. what kind of product have they put in the formula to make you hyper sensitive to the sun?!

St Ives Apricot Scrub

This used to be my facial scrub of all time and then it started to dry my skin out. Going back a few years though, I loved the granules in this scrub which made me believe that my skin was getting cleansed and exfoliated but wasn't worth the end result. Dry skin!
