This self tan doesn't work on me! I try to apply it but I just can't, It goes very streaky and I just can't get it right!! My skin is very very very pale even when i get a lot of sun my "tan" isn't very tan. Any tips to apply this? I have the mit and everything but I still can't get it to work. its very frustrating!!!

You guessed it, i went ORANGE!! First impression was this has a great reputation, lets try it! and the fact it came in a pink bottle, bonus! However, thats where all the awesomeness stops for me. I done everything right, from shaving 3 days prior, exfoliating twice a day, and then using the mit to apply......Streaks everywhere :( I have never had this much trouble with self tanning with other brands. I also did not like the smell. I would reccommend to freinds but i would tell them my experiance first.

Tips: Do a patch test first!! purchase the tan remover from model Co in case you do turn orange. and deffinately use a Mitt. Good Luck xx

ModelCo SUPERTAN Instant Self Tan

ModelCo is a bran I have not been impressed with, it also is in the outlet by my office so I own a lot of their products, but they're just not products I love or would recommended, they're not necesarily bad, but I do feel I have used far better and more effective products for the same price, so wouldn't bother with ModelCo. Their packaging is pretty, and they have products that aren't really offered with other brands in New Zealand, but as I mostly shop online and from oversea's, I no longer use this brand.

Good, just not the best.

After reading such glowing reviews on multiple platforms, I really did think I was going to love this product. I was already converted to fake tanning mousse's as these are the easiest to apply. I have tried many, many tanning products and had been using St Moriz Tanning mousse for a few months. I was very pleased with the St Moriz product but I thought that a more expensive mousse may provide the same deep colour and easy application, but simply last a little longer.

The application of the ModelCo Supertan is quick and easy. I used a tanning mitt which left an even, streak-free application. For my personal colour preference I found that I had to apply quite a few layers of the tan to get the colour that I wanted, in comparison to the St Moriz dark formula. I applied this on the first night and applied the St Moriz on the second night to get the colour that I wanted. The ModelCo Supertan is green based which is excellent as it won't make you orange, however I did find that it gave a tan with a yellow tinge. This probably isn't something that somebody new to tanning would notice. The smell was sweet and not overpowering, although I haven't had trouble with the smell of any mousse products.

This product has gone to the back of the cupboard and I have once again reached for my St Moriz tanning mousse in dark. If you had the chance to pick up the ModelCo Supertan at a very reasonable price, then give it a go, but I don't recommend rushing out to buy it.

Tips: Apply with a tanning mitt for an even, streak free finish and no orange hands.

Lisa, I would leave it on overnight for it to develop as once you wash the colourguard off you should be left with a lovely tan. Mine certainly wasn't green enough for anybody to notice. I guess green is better than orange!

Someone gave me a bottle of this, and when I went to use it , it definitely had a green tinge when I was applying it. Very green in fact! it has settled down now I have had it on for an hour or so, but is supposed to look this green initially?

SuperTan

I found this product easy to use and you could see were you had applied it. I have pale skin and would probably use it more in the summer months as I found the colour quite intense for early in the season. Smells good, I would try it with the Model Co application mitt as I did find it stained by hands and when I tried to wash it off other parts of me that got wet tended to run!

Tips: Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate! I bought the application mitt to see if I got a different result - I'm hooked. I got a much more natural and even colour and NO ORANGE HANDS!!! Try it!

I find that fake tan is one of the hardest beauty products to choose as most of them always have at least one thing wrong with them. They always go either too orange, too streaky, smell really yuck or leak off onto your clothing or bedding.

ModelCo SUPERTAN Instant Self Tan

This product does work and leave your skin looking very tan BUT its very strong and made my knees quite orange which i had to scrub off also if not shaken a lot the moose will be very runny and stains anything it comes into contact with. It washed off in the shower the day after i used it. But other than this the product made my legs look instantly tan and from a distance it was quite even.

Tips: Apply tan to glove and wash hands a couple times after use to avoid orange fingers!

ModelCo SUPERTAN Instant Self Tan

For someone who barely gets spray tans or instant tanning products i was a very satisfied customer! I had purchased this because I had a wedding to go to and could not book in for a spray tan at the last minute so i opt'd out for a instant tan & what do you know it did wonders for me! The scent was not potent and i didn't have any streaks (however I do have a darker complexion so I did not feel insecure about the creepy orange look :-). ) I would recommend this product and use this again as i did a great job in such little time.

Tips: Definitely exfoliate before application as this will aid with the application and absorption of the self-tanning product. I do also recommend using the mitt to avoid having orange palms and apply small amounts at a time as you may look like an oompa loompa if your doing constant applications in one go.

Tan in a can

Loved this, no yukky smell and super easy to use. I managed to get a pretty even tan on my legs, with not too much effort.

Tips: Exfoliate before and keep on moisturising after the tan has set to keep it a little longer.

ModelCo Super Tan

I liked that this product did what it said it would and it didn't smell bad like many other tanning products do. I used it the day I was going out and it was really strong even though I've got med-dark skin it looked a bit fake. It seemed to tone down a bit after a shower the next day but my knees looked a bit orangey. Including the Mit was great but it only lasted for the first application.

Tips: Wear gloves for application and use sparingly on the knees/elbows.

room for improvement

Unless your legs are super prepared for this tan, it wont work.

I went a weird orange color more often than not, i still have the same one bottle i for the past year, so it hasn't made it to the empty stage just yet. I do keep it around just in case i run out of tan.

It streaked mostly on the shins on my legs and then went really streaky on the sides. I have used mouses before and found them to be idiot proof, these are not. I had to apply too coats to get an even all over color, hence i would probably go more orange than a nice natural brown.

Tips: Exfoliate your skin for 3 days in a row prior, even a wax 4 days before tanning will help remove any dead skin. Moisturize all week consistently twice a day, these steps help prepare the skin for an all over even tan. Use a buffing mitt and do upwards strokes first before buffing around, making sure your hands and feet are done last. sweep over the knee and elbow. Even putting a moisturizer on hands, feet, elbows and knees will prevent product from sticking to those areas.
