Throw the primer out magic blur is all you need

I purchased this Revitalise Magic Blur after being recommended via our own BR forum, and couldn’t resist the temptation of the lure which Magic Blur supposedly offers.

The packaging is very standard for another product of the L’Oreal Revitalise range so it’s colour / theme blends in with the rest of the products. The red tube is quite large for the price, even though there are cheaper counterparts on the market. Inside the creamy formula is orange/peach colour and has little or no fragrance to it, rubbed between your fingers it has a soft silkiness that dries to a type of velvety rubberised feeling.

Once applied a small piece of the cream onto the back of my hand I used my fingertips to blend over my face as a primer after cleansing, toning and moisturising, pre makeup. The effects are pretty well instant, all the shiny patches of my skin have been transformed into a velvety matte, the whole surface of my skin has a matte look that feels super soft, all fine wrinkles get filled in to be plumped out along with small red areas being evened out, I didn’t really need much foundation after apply, which is great as foundation can be expensive and the reduction in amount needed by using magic blur as a primer is quite dramatic. I feel very confident on my no make up days that with just a thin layer of magic blur and a lip gloss I will need nothing else and yet my skin will still look flawless, this really is in my opinion the best blur cream on the market at this time.

Tips: Give it time, you need to let the formula settle into your skin before you rush off an start apply make up, I found this out after my first experience with it would see it not stay on my face after popping on make up, or foundation/powder caking up and generally looking messy. Just 5 seconds sitting back and letting it set makes a world of difference

L'Oreal Paris Revitalift Magic Blur

PROS: 1.Works exactly like it says it should! I can literally see a difference when I apply to one half of my face and leave the other bare. 2.Helps keep my foundation in place and on all day - I notice a difference when I am not wearing this underneath 3.Feels amazingly silky and applies really nicely to the skin. 4.Only a small amount is required to cover your whole face. 5.DEFINITELY reduces fine lines under the eye, also helps under-eye concealer stay in place and not sink into these fine lines. 6.Is my new holy grail beauty product.

CONS: 1.The packaging is quite terrible. A lot of air comes out the tube and you sometimes need to squeeze quite hard to get any out. Also, when squeezing, I end up with little red bits on my hand that have come off the tube. It's quite hard to get the product out of the tube, and hard to know how much you have left. I thought I was running out about a month ago and have still managed to squeeze more out each day by banging the tube on my table to get the product to the tip. 2.Price. I paid $29.95 for this. As much as I love the product and am impressed by how long it has lasted me, it's still a lot of money for what is essentially a primer.

Overall though, I love this stuff!!!!!

Abracadabra!

Remember in the old days when you'd write with a pencil, then you'd make a mistake and have to rub it out with an eraser. More often than not (depending on the quality of the rubber) you'd still see the imprint or the faded words. This is what L'Oreal's Magic Blur reminds me of.

The moment I saw the first advertisement I knew I had to try it. A product that would blur imperfections!? Genius! So off to Farmers I went with a voucher burning a whole in my cyber pocket. It was easy to find - that fabulous red packaging, synonymous with the Revitalift range, is a total stand out amongst the more muted or classic tones of other ranges.

The next day I did my usual cleanse and moisturise then ripped into it. It's quite a large tube, although it doesn't feel full of product (perhaps the tube could be smaller?), I gave it a good squeeze and this is where I discovered the one thing about this product I don't like. It spurts and sputters all over the place! I swear my mirror often ends up with as much product on it as my face does! That aside, it comes out as quite thick and has the merest hint of pink to it and no discernible scent. Despite the thickness it applies rather easily and it was at this point that yes I noticed a difference in my skin. Smaller pores, more filled in wrinkles - it just looked better somehow. The pores and wrinkles were there, but they looked like they'd been rubbed out a bit. It also left my skin feeling velvety soft too and I must admit to doing the ultimate no-no and touching my face a fair bit throughout the day. When I used it under makeup it provided a gorgeous base and my foundation stuck around longer than usual, also there was no dryness as experienced with another 'blur' product.

L'Oreal have really pulled the rabbit out of the hat with this product and while there is a more affordable version out there (which I've tried and will review), I found that this product worked better with my combination/dry skin.

Abracadabra Alakazam! Of this product, I'm a five star fan!

Tips: Hold your hand over/around the nib as you squeeze the tube so you don't end up with product flying all over the place.

Close to perfect primer

I have a few primers on the go lately, and haven't found my holy grail yet. When I brought Loreal Magic Blur I was excited to give it a go to see how it compared to my other primers. I'm a big fan of Loreal makeup and skincare, so I had high hopes this would be a great product.

The packaging is stylish and elegant. The red tube is distinctively Loreal and looks different to other primers out in the market. I also like the colour, as it stands out and I can quickly find this in my makeup bag.

Firstly, I am a little sceptical when products are called "magic" or make claims to "blur wrinkles", but I can only hope!

The formula is slightly pink and has the distinctive silicone feel. The formula doesn't seem to have a fragrance which is good, as my skin can be sensitive and reactive.

After cleansing and moisturising my face I apply a small amount of Magic Blur over my face, really concentrating on the fine lines that are appearing.

What I discovered after using Magic Blur is that it really helped to even out my skintone, hydrate the dry patches and fill in the fine lines. My skin feels silky soft after using this and very moisturised. Also, my sensitive skin had no irritation from this and just drank it up.

After applying my foundation, Nars Sheer Glow the Magic Blur really does help make my makeup look more flawless and my fine lines less noticeable.

I wouldn't say this primer is 'magic', but it really helps to make imperfections less obvious.

Overall, a great primer that is now my favourite!

Tips: Wait till its on sale at Countdown!

Blurred lines

So I pick this little beauty up yesterday because I've heard so many great things about it. And i was actually shocked by how amazing my foundation looked with this underneath. Its fantastic, I still ended up with my frownies by the end of the night but only botox will fix that mess. I'm really impressed by this product and its so cheap too.

Tips: This is the last part of your skin care routine before you put on your make up.

Make sure to dab it on dont smear it you wont get the best result if you do that.

What kind of sorcery is this

I have some seriously scary large pores around my nose and cheeks, not to mention some pesky fine lines popping up on my forehead. This product is amazing for my skin, it glides over similarly to a silicone primer, and smoothes everything out giving a much more put together appearance for no makeup days. When I want a flawless makeup look I tone, moisturize, magic blur, and then prime prior to my foundation (I know that's a whole lot of products), and my skin looks amazing. My only bugbears are firstly that while the garnier blur cream sinks into your skin, this one kind of seems to sit on top of it. This means your skin has that sort of slippery feeling when you don't wear makeup on top. Secondly, this cream like explodes out of the tube- seriously, for $30 I don't really want to have to be wasting it all over my dresser and mirror. I don't know whether that is just my tube or not, but it almost seems to be pressurized within the tube. Regardless of these issues, I will definitely repurchase.

Tips: Sharply shake the tube so the product moves down towards the nozzle, as this helps eliminate some of the air from within the tube. This helps it to dispense correctly and not explode all over your bathroom.

Loved it

I got a sample of this in a magazine a while back and was very impressed with the effects of this cream. It is quite thick and clearly has a silicone base. It just disappears into your skin and does fill in fine lines and blur pores. The only problem is that it doesn't do it for very long, probably about 2 or 3 hrs later it wears off so to speak. I use it as a primer and I like it fir this. I would definitely buy this again.

Good blurring effect

I got this pretty much as soon as it came out and was on special, verdict - I like it, I like it a lot!

The packaging is nice, I like anything red! It states on the packaging it's for ages 40 to 50, I'm not 40 yet, but still feel it had an effect on my skin immediately.

First time I used it (after cleansing), I applied it to half my face to see if there was a difference and I'm pleased to confirm there was. It was slight but noticeable. I don't have a huge amount of wrinkles, other than around my eye area and these wrinkles just looked softer and smoother and that half of my face looked much improved, younger actually. Even the bags under my eyes didn't look so big.

When applying, I just use my fingers to smooth it into my skin and wait a minute before applying foundation. I prefer to use it as a primer as my skin is not that wonderful, it's very red and I don't do the bare skin look because of that, but, if your skin is not red like mine I would use it alone.

It feels like exactly like benefit porefessional to apply as it's got silicone in it, so if you don't like that feel best not to try it.

I think it's pretty good value for money as you don't use copious amounts of it and a little goes a long way.

I haven't tried any other blurring creams yet but once I've finished this tube I'll try another brand, just to compare.

I haven't gone 5/5 as it claims after 1 month of use lines and wrinkles appear reduced etc. It's true as far as after you've used it lines and wrinkles appear reduced but it doesn't actually change your skin if you don't have it on your face.

Tips: I wouldn't recommend this to those of you with young looking skin as you would just be wasting your money.

Don't expect a miraculous change or you will be disappointed. The change you will see is slight but definite.

Velvet to the Touch

basically I use this for a primer, works wonders and the amount you get is so cheap. I wouldn't recommend using it every time as a primer as it does make your face kind of dry without it, but I do have very dry skin anyway. I use this as an eye lid primer and under eye primer and guess what!! no creases. You don't need to spend heaps and get a a tiny bottle of eye primer anymore! <3

Tips: Best around the eyes I recommend using a more dewy looking primer for the rest of the face =)

Good Affordable Primer

I am currently using this primer as my everyday. It has a nice consistency that isn't too thick with a silicon-y feel so it smoothes onto the skin really smoothly and easily. I use a small pea sized amount and with my fingers cover my general middle section of the face and a wee bit on the forehead which i think are the main areas you want to prime. The texture of the product really makes your foundation glide on like a breeze and blends so well it feels like silk when your buffing the brush into your skin.

The bottle is a good thinnish tube that fits easy into a makeup bag. I think for a basic everyday primer I think this is perfect and I've certainly been enjoying using it.

Now for the magic blur bit. I don't think any product could really blur all your imperfections but I think the white colour of the product once blended onto the skin really helps with discoloration and makes your skin tone look a bit more even than without it. I guess this would be good if your going to put just a small amount of powder overtop. But most girls would layer their foundation over the primer so what really is the point of blurring ?

But overall a really nice affordable product. I recommend purchasing it through drugstore.com (use youshop to post to nz) as they have bigger tubes, and one for oily skin that is oil free ! Plus much cheaper than at farmers!!
