I received this to trial via Beauty Review. I've used the regular Garnier Micellar Water a lot, and love the Mecca one, which is rose and cornflower, so was excited to try this.
First impressions - the bottle is huge. 400 ml is a really decent size for the price point. I love that the cap a) is removeable and b) features a dispenser that is large enough to get a cotton bud into - I find i waste product if I have to tip it onto a cotton bud. The packaging is heavy green plastic, with an image of a cornflower - which I guess ties in visually with the 'organic' claims. The word 'organic/s' appears 3x just on the front labelling, making it pretty clear that that is the angle they're pushing with this.
The liquid itself is clear and thin, just like any other micellar water I have tried.
The scent is overpoweringly floral - it's too much for a product that claims to be soothing. At first sniff I nearly didn't use it, and definitely wouldn't have purchased it.
However, I'd been sent it to try, so try it I did.
I double cleanse my face, so tried this in step one (make up removal) a couple nights, step two (final cleanse) a couple of nights, and also tried it as an eye makeup remover, brush cleaner and on a cotton bud to tidy my eye makeup one day.
Makeup removal - is was surprisingly effective for this. I wet a cotton pad with the product and removed my makeup, then did a second pass and the cotton pad was virtually clean even before my second cleansing. However, it did feel like it was a little harsh, and I much prefer my usual oil based makeup removers. This felt a little intense.
Second cleansing - again, this was effective but felt a little intense, and when I sprayed my face with the facial spray i'm using atm it felt a little sensitive. Of the two, I probably prefer it as a makeup remover followed by a cleanser, but it wouldn't be my first choice for either.
Eye Makeup removal - effective, but I hated it. I intentionally did heavy makeup one day to test it, and while it got all the makeup off efficiently from my lids, it smeared under my eyes, dragged on my eyelids and the scent was too much.
As a makeup tidying tool - love it for this - you can stick a cotton bud in the bottle very easily, and tidy any eye makeup errors. In those small quantities the scent is fine, and it works well.
As a brush cleaner - effective but the scent of course transfers to brushes, which gets a bit much after a while.
Overall, I'll use the bottle, but am not likely to repurchase as the scent and the 'too much-ness' of this puts me off a little.
My skin is combination, tending oilier over summer, and this wasn't stripping - in fact the balance of my skin was nice all week using this - but because my skin was a little sensitive after full face and eye use I feel like this is too strong for my skin.
I was lucky enough to receive this to review. I haven’t had completely favourable experiences with Garnier in the past but given the rate at which I use Micellar water I thought that this was worth a go.
I really like the container - 400ml is a chunky size bottle for a micellar water. I like that this is vegan - although I would hope that most micellar waters would be. Particularly like that this has soothing cornflower and is for sensitive skin as my skin can be quite sensitive.
I have enjoyed using this and it does what I would expect. It effectively removes my makeup including stubborn mascara. I haven’t had any issues with my skin while using this so I believe the claims of it being good for all skin types. It also didn’t dry out my skin which I really appreciated.
As I mention in quite a few of my reviews I am really sensitive to smells. Therefore despite all the reasons I like this product as above I won’t be repurchasing this. I find the smell quite medicinal and really can’t enjoy it. I will use the bottle up - but I won’t repurchase.
If you aren’t as sensitive to smell as I am I would recommend.
