Garnier Pure Active 3 In 1 Cleansing Mask Review

Background to my skin type - I am 26 years old with oily/combination/normal skin that is prone to the occasional breakout. I get blackheads in my chin sometimes, but not often.

The product is a white/grey colour with blue bits throughout. It has a thick consistency with little natural exfoliating particles in it. It has a manly/minty scent to it, but the smell goes away once you've washed it off. It contains eucalyptus extract, zinc, and salicylic acid which are all good for clearing up pimples.

I've now been using this product daily for around two weeks on my face, chest, and shoulders. Although I've only used this wash a short amount of time, I have noticed some improvements in my skin since using this product. I seem to have less breakouts recently and my face also seems to be a little less oily. However, my favourite part about this product is how fresh it smells. It's really nice to use on hot days, as it makes my face feel cooler and its great for a deep cleanse.

This is meant to be a 3 in 1 product, but I think that's a bit of a gimmick as there's really only two ways to use it. It's supposed to be used as a wash, scrub, and mask however the wash and scrub method are basically the same thing. There's no real way to only use this as a wash without it also being a scrub, since it's full of little exfoliants.

The mask aspect of this product was very effective and did properly dry down. This could be due to clay component of the mask. I would only use this as a mask once a week though, as I don't want to strip my skin of its natural oils and leave my skin too dry.

Overall I enjoyed this product. I didn't notice any improvements in blackheads, but I only get small amounts of them anyway. I'll definitely continue to use this until the tube is empty. I wouldn't recommend this if you have dry skin, but give it a go if you have combination/oily skin!

As a general rule I love garnier skin products, however this is the exception to that rule.

I had high expectations for this product based on my previous experience with Garnier. This product is advertised as a face wash, scrub and mask.

Face wash: I did not enjoy it for this purpose, the grit makes it too harsh to use twice a day in my opinion and it also strips all the moisture of my skin. It's also difficult to remove which I personally dont like especially of I'm not washing my hair at the same time.

Scrub: I found it to be more effective however would not want to use more than twice a week due to the above drying effects, I have quite oily skin and found it dries it out and because of this my clever skin produces even more oil to compensate which was quite counterproductive!

Mask: No. I did not like this at all. It feels very uncomfortable on the skin when left for more than a few seconds and the smell is overpowering and very chemical smelling. At first whiff I thought it had a cucumber scent but once it was on my face it really bothered me.

Overall, I'm sorry to say I would not reccomend this product, the charcoal version is 100 x better.

I have been using this product as a face scrub every day. It doesn't dry out my skin but helps to control oils and I haven't had any break -outs! The eucalyptus scent is refreshing and helps to wake me up in the morning! I did try this product as a mask and didn't really like it as much using it as a mask. I prefer to use it as a daily scrub/face wash instead.

I'm all for an all-in-one product if executed well, but I feel like this product lacked on the cleanser and scrub aspects and felt like purely a clay mask. The application is a little sticky as you would expect a mask to feel when applying it (but with little scrub beads in it). I applied it to a wet face and used it as a scrub/cleanser. It instantly made my face feel really cold because of the Eucalyptus ingrediant. I didnt really like the feeling (some may like it). Its kind of like having Vix Vapor Rub on your face. I rubbed it into my face and then once I went to the rinsing off part it was as difficult as when you try to rinse off a mask - quite a few goes at it before it all came off. My face however did feel very clean after the fact, and didn't feel too dry afterwards. I still always apply a moisturiser anyway. In conclusion I wouldn't buy this again as it was too much mask for me, not enough cleanser/scrub - and also the cold feeling wasn't appealing. They have another all in one product that is based on Charcoal which in my opinion works much better at all 3 of its uses than this one.

I really enjoyed this product.

After previously enjoying Garnier products aimed at oily skin, I found this up there with my favourites.

As a mask this is nice, I like that its wash off rather than peel off - it feels much nicer on the skin.

As an exfoliator its very effective at smoothing skin and removing dry skin cells.

As a face wash it leaves skin refreshed and clean.

This is perfect to use as a targetted t-zone product, or for those with oily skin, all over.

It's a massive product, 150ml for $13 - as I use it mainly on my t-zone it will last a long time.

With the warmer weather I've found my t-zone becoming more oily, with products keeping the oil at bay for a few hours. This product keeps my skin mattified and oil free for around 36-48 hours, so it's really very good!

The only downside is the smell - it smells like synthetic cucumber. But it doesnt linger so I won't hold it against it!

I really enjoyed using this as a cleanser and a scrub - with once daily use my skin was left feeling very fresh, clear and free from blackheads.

It's a gentle exfoliation, and perfectly balanced my oily skin.

It is fine to use as a mask, but I wouldn't say the impact is any more powerful than just using as a face wash/scrub.

It's a large tube, making the price super reasonable.

All up, I'm a fan!

This product comes in a generous size that will last quite a while. It looks fresh, has lots of information on it and lets you know the three different ways of using it on the back.

The consistency of this product is a thick white paste with obvious particles that serve as an exfoliant. The smell is fresh, with the eucalyptus reminding me of fresh lemongrass.

The three different uses differ in the way that you apply it. I found that the face wash and exfoliant were much in the same, so would classify this as having two uses rather than three. Even with a wet face, and wet fingertips to thin out the paste it was still exfoliating my face.

After using this product my face was smooth without being overly dry. I look forward to seeing the long term benefits of continued use.

Great packaging on this garnier pure active product! However I think maybe they tried to add too much for one product? Good to use as a weekly exfoliant but I wouldn’t be using everyday for fear for drying out the skin. I have been using the ordinary products daily so this was used inbetween my routine. You only need a little bit of product don’t use too much, the beads gently exfoliate your skin and do not feel harsh, a thick cream cleanser. The scent is similar to other garnier products perhaps it’s the Salicic acid or citric acid slight menthol smell/ refreshing feel afterwards. I would say this product is best for acne skin with lots of breaskouts.

First of all let me start by saying “thanks BR for giving me the opportunity to try this”. I don’t normally like daily scrubs that are marketed as cleansers because they tend to give me dry patches but not this one. I’ve used this daily and only gently rubbing it in and I think I’ve had the best skin week of my life. My foundation has never looked more even or lasted as long. I’m a regular exfoliator I normally use either an AHA serum or a physical scrub with some being quite pricey but none have done what this product has for my skin. I did try using it as a mask and didn’t really notice a difference to my skin nor have I noticed a decrease in blackheads but it has definitely cleared up my lovely once a month break out and minimised oil so my skin looks great throughout the day. My 14 year old daughter has been using it too and her acne has definitely improved over this past week, so much so that I went out and bought one for her so she doesn’t use up all of mine. I’ve trialled a lot of wonderful products through BR but this one is hands down my favourite (even more so than the black head version). I can’t believe this is so affordable and it goes without saying that I will purchase this product again.
