If you told me I could only use one skincare product in my life it would definitely be a night cream! Night times are when it I find it easier to care for myskin, because my makeup has been removed, oiliness washed away, skin nicely scrubbed down and prepared to be treated.
Product: Its housed in a glass pot which I quite enjoy as it gives the cream the look of a high end brand. Its only 48g so naturally I was worried that I'm going to run out of this cream because I love to plaster my skin.
First impression: The cream smells like a combination of kiwi fruit and orange which I really love. Its pleasant to the senses, not overpowering at all and deep within the cream there's probably some vanilla hidden away as well. All the right flavour combinations for me (oh no I sound like Manu from MKR!)
First use: Using it the first night, I dipped my fingers into the pot and scooped out a heap of cream and massaged it into my face but it was far too much. I learnt quickly that you only need a few dots on your skin and its more than sufficient for coverage. The cream is smooth, silk, rich and thick! This definitely ticks all the cream boxes for me as I love a thick and creamy face cream. There nothing worse then wanting to treat your skin but the cream you're using might as well just be water.
This cream soaks into your skin almost immediately, but doesnt leave your skin thirsty for more. It really hydrates and nourishes your skin while you're applying and you go to bed with unbelievable soft skin. Not to mention the lovely compliments you're going to get from your partner loving the smell of your face :)
I've been using the cream for 8 consecutive nights/days and every morning I wake up, my skin is soft and has a dewy feel to it. The best part of all is that it didnt break me! No new acne from a new product so I'm extremely happy about that.
Does it live up to its promises? "Soften skin and moisturise" Absolutely! My skin is definitely softer and really hydrated. I've been noticing that the oiliness of my skin is somehow kept at bay as well. Double win for me. "Reduce the dullness and roughness" Yes and no. My skin wasnt glowing like it was sprinkled with fairy dust but it definitely wasnt rough. The look of my skin didnt change much I must admit. "Improve radiance for healthier looking skin" I'm not sure. My skin feels healthy but it doesnt necessary look healthy because what person with an acne riddled skin looks healthy? With so many boxes ticked I think it worth every penny of the price tag.
I love using the cream and would definitely recommend it to people who are looking for a change in their night time routine because you love the feel and softness of your skin. I would imagine that somebody with a naturally heathly and flawless skin would reap the benefits of a glowing and radiant skin.
I decided to purchase a night cream after reading the article on night creams on BR and thought this Neutrogena one sounded like a good match for my skin type and skin needs.
First of all the packaging is nice and simple and sleek. I love glass jars like this one I think they look so much nicer than plastic containers. The clear glass also means you can easily see how much you have left.
The scent of this product is a little odd to me and It just reminds me of a old soap...which is not particularly appealing to me, but I did get used to it.
It has a thick creamy texture but I still found it easy to spread over my entire face and found a little goes a long way. It sinks into the skin reasonable quickly so you are not left with an oily or heavy feeling on the face.
Initially, in the first couple of days I began using this cream my skin felt lovely and moisturised initially but I don't feel it left any softer or hydrated when I woke in the morning. On about the third day my skin was severely irritated. I developed a rash all over my face, it was extremely dry, very stingy and itchy. This was the only new product I introduced into my routine so I know the reaction was due to this.
I'm not sure what I reacted to in this product which is a shame, but, even if It had not irritated my skin I would not have repurchased as I just didn't find it very nourishing and hydrating in comparison to other creams I have since tried and the rosehip oil I was using previously to this.
I do not think this night cream is worth its cost and will be sticking to my rosehip oil and wild ferns manuka night creme which is 100% natural.
Tips: If you choose to use this product I would apply a serum of facial oil and let that sink in before applying this for added hydration as I don't find this is sufficient alone.
