Dr LeWinns Recoverëderm Day Cream

I really liked this product, I have minor sensitivity and this moisturiser soothed and hydrated my skin. It is a rich cream but absorbs well with no oiliness. I can be prone to breakouts I had zero issues in this space. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone with sensitive skin. I’m not sure about it’s wrinkle fighting powers, my skin was definitely hydrated and smooth. It is not fragranced which I know is important for sensitivities but I like the decadence of a fragrance in my skincare. So all in all I’d 100% recommend for people with sensitive skin, and I’d consider purchasing once my jar runs out.

Tips: Personally I wouldn’t pay the RRP but you can pick it up on sale at the Chemist Warehouse/Bargain Chemist type stores. Give it a go!

A really lovely daily moisturiser

I was really excited to receive this product to review, as I have never used any Dr. Lewinn's products before - they're quite expensive and I really can't be bothered reading about all the scientific claims and elusive ingredients. I also usually opt for day moisturisers that are on the cheaper side, lighter formulas and contain SPF.

I'm in my late 20s and I'm starting to see horizontal forehead lines and crow's feet develop, AT THE SAME time as still battling hormonal acne on my chin (currently using Differin gel from the doctor to clear it up) and pesky breakouts on my forehead. I was a bit worried that using this may cause my acne to flare up, but it has been fine.

At first glance I was worried that this would be far too heavy and thick for daily morning use, but I was pleasantly surprised that it feels like a combination of a cream and a gel. I also like that it is fragrance-free. It absorbs really quickly and my skin feels amazingly moisturised. I've been using it for a week so far and I can see a very slight difference in my skin, so I'm excited to see what it looks like after another week of use.

It's definitely changed my view on moisturisers from jars rather than bottles, and it feels like I am treating my skin every morning when I put it on! I would probably buy this again and am now keen to try other products from the brand.

Tips: I also use it like an eye contour cream and dab it under my eyes before applying to the rest of my face!

You only need a small amount, so the jar should last quite a while.

Very hydrating and soothing!

I usually have a combination skin type. I have an oily T zone, dry patches on sides of my nose, forehead and around mouth/chin areas. The winter weather and airconditioned office would usually bring out dry patches even more.

I have used this moisturiser for 12 days, every morning after my shower, before applying my makeup.

The packaging is quite fancy and high-end. Small frosted glass jar. However, there is no applicator or pump.

It is fragrance free. The consistency is thick, but when applied would just glide and thin out over my face. After application, I don’t feel anything on my face at all, but if I touch my face, I do feel that my skin is more hydrated and softer.

At the end of the work day, after being in the office for 8.5 hours, I have not noticed any dry patches at all, when I would usually before using this product.

I have noticed also that my pores are minimised and my skin is brighter. I have some redness around my nose and dark undereye circles, and I have not noticed that these have improved by using this product. I do not have a lot of lines/ wrinkles, and have not seen any reduction to the ones I do have.

I would definitely recommend this product in terms of hydrating, soothing and pore minimising properties.

Tips: A little goes a long way. I would use only up to about an almond size amount for my whole face.

Nice cream, good for sensitive skin

This is a beautiful cream with a nice consistency that is enjoyable to use. The packaging is beautiful and I love the aqua colour of the pot. It is a round pot with a screw lid. High quality.

It’s a nice consistency to apply - light to medium weight. You don’t need too much and I think the pot will last a while.

In terms of results, it’s too early to tell but all good so far. I can see that it will be good for sensitive skin - no irritation or stinging. Good hydration and good under makeup and sunscreen. In the week I’ve used it there is no magical improvements but I like this product and will consider repurchasing after finishing it.

Super rich

Thanks again BR for letting me be part of this trial - I just love giving new products a whirl and falling in love with something!

I’m a HUGE sucker for anything anti-ageing and at 40 it’s something that I’m really conscious of! The issue I’ve had with some products in the past is the red flare up with those intense ingredients, so this new product from Dr Lewinns sounded perfect for me.

First off - I absolutely adore the packaging. The tub is plastic but with a silver lid and an etched-glass look with this gorgeous blue colour fade - so pretty! Dr Lewinns are really good with info on the packaging and their website, so it was clear what the ingredients were and how to use it.

The cream itself doesn’t have much of a scent (expected for sensitive skin), and is an incredibly thick white cream. I followed instructions of applying a generous amount the first time and found it was really really rich! Lessons learned and I applied a much smaller amount the next day.

Over winter my skin tends to get really dry on the cheeks and forehead so for the first little while my skin inhaled this. After a few days though, I noticed oily bits either side of my nose and chin area and felt the cream was becoming too much. I reduced to every second day but it still felt too rich, so I’m now using it as a night cream and it’s perfect.

As for results - well, it’s too early to tell if it’s reduced the lines, but it has definitely reduced the redness and has made my skin feel a lot more nourished and plumped. Another win from Dr Lewinns for me.

Tips: Alternate using it every second day, or even as a night cream if it’s too rich. Proceed with caution with the ‘apply generously’ instruction :)

Kind on your face... not so much on your wallet.

My skin has been going through a very sensitive phase (I can't even wear perfume without it stinging) so I've had to overhaul my skincare to the most basic skincare, however I've had trouble finding a day moisturiser that I like, so I was excited to try this (thank you BR!)

Firstly, the packaging with its silver cap and ombre blue/clear pottle is BEAUTIFUL. The lotion is a thickish white consistency and didn't have a discernible scent. Seeing that it was free of alcohol and fragrance was a huge bonus and gave me great confidence that it would be a good match for my skin. Which it mostly was. The product sunk in beautifully and I experienced no redness and/or stinging (apart from one day, which I'm calling an anomaly), nor did I break out. There is a BUT. I usually use an oil along with my moisturiser but tried not to with this as it sounded like it was rich enough that I wouldn't need to - however, I did find that after twenty minutes of wearing it my skin would feel tight and adding an oil back into my regime helped my skin feel hydrated.

Overall I enjoyed the product and have since checked out the Recoverederm range on the Dr LeWinns site. I'm am keen to buy the cleanser, and toning mist and try them, unfortunately the moisturiser at $79.99 is more than I can justify, especially as I found it very good, but not exceptional.

Tips: Don't be afraid to use an oil with this moisturiser if you're not feeling hydrated enough.

Dr LeWinns Recoverëderm Cellular Defence Day Cream

The Dr LeWinns Recoverëderm Cellular Defence Rich Replenishing Day Cream is a multi purpose day cream that really delivers. It’s super hydrating while also being surprisingly soothing - this combination of benefits is somewhat difficult to find, but is super beneficial to my equally dry and sensitive skin. On initial application, I realised just how little product is required to easily moisture the face and neck. Initially, my skin felt a little tingly/stingy (as it often does with the introduction of a new product), but this quickly subsided, leaving my skin feeling soft, supple and hydrated. I would recommend this product to anyone who has dry, sensitive skin.

Tips: Only a pea size amount of product is required - A little goes a long way.

Lovely product, but overpriced

This review is for Dr LeWinns Recoveraderm Cellular Defence Rich Replenishing Day Cream. I was lucky enough to receive this product from Beauty Review to try out.

The cream comes in an easy to open, attractive blue ombre glass jar that would look attractive and premium in your bathroom. It's a thick white cream with no noticeable scent. I found a little goes a long way - no need to use a big dollop, just a dab is enough. The cream applies smoothly and spreads evenly over your skin, taking a moment to sink in (I'd leave it for a minute before applying other products).

It kept my skin feeling supple and hydrated over the course of the day, each day. Over the trial period of two weeks, I didn't notice any discernible difference (good or bad) to my skin.

The only downside is the price, this retails for around $80 a jar, and for that price I expect more long term improvement. Because of this, I'm not likely to purchase the product once I run out.

Tips: A little goes a long way - think "dab", not "scoop"!

Started off great!

This product started off great, beautiful packaging with frosted jar and easy to read labeling. It felt high end! It smelt like moisturizer, not much of a scent but reminded me of clean if that makes sense. The formula is a thick cream but glides onto the skin easily and I felt it didn't take long to absorb in. It does say day but I used it whenever I cleansed, the first few days it was great my skin felt so smooth! My skin is quite sensitive so finding a moisturizer that doesn't cause a reaction is seldom. I was pretty happy with my baby smooth skin until I started to notice that as I was applying the cream my skin would sting or almost felt like slight burning, I didn't notice any tiny spots I usually get from a reaction at that stage just some redness which eased off and my skin was still smooth. A few days after that I noticed the redness wasn't disappearing so quickly and the reaction spots were coming out. It was going so well so I am really sad that my skin had a reaction. I must point out that other than the redness and the little spots (mostly on the cheek and chin area) my skin is still smooth and feels supple.

I will continue to use the cream as a once off when my skin is feeling dehydrated as I did love the initial results.

Tips: Do a few days of patch testing if you have ultra sensitive skin

A bit of a let down

I've trialed this day cream for roughly two weeks now, and I have mixed feelings about it.

Note: My skin is mildly sensitive and this product is meant for sensitive skin (in fact on the box it even states: to soothe and calm sensitive & irritated skin.) so I was somewhat surprised when I applied it and my skin felt a little tingly. Nothing major, or too worrying for me, but a similar feeling to when I apply a cream that's got alcohol's in it.

Upon opening, my initial thoughts: packaging is nice, jar is a lot bigger than what is actually contained inside but is aesthetically pleasing to look at. The cream is relatively thick for a day cream and smells like a mix of sunscreen and chemicals.

I applied this cream every morning after both cleansing and applying toner. The thing that stood out the most is that it did indeed reduce the dryness & tightness of my skin (one of the claims made on the box), however this didn't last throughout the day. After only a few hours I could feel my skin drying out, crying for more moisturiser. Also not a huge issue, but something that bothered me personally was the smell. There was something about the smell of this cream that almost put me off wanting to use it every morning.

On the subject of the anti-aging side of this cream: because I only trialed this for such a short period of time, I feel I couldn't rightly say whether the anti-aging properties worked or not.

Would I pick this over my regular day cream (which is about a third of the price)? No. For me the benefits of this product don't live up to the price tag.

Pros: *immediately made skin feel hydrated

Cons: *Expensive! *Not a pleasant smell *Skin didn't feel moisturised for long enough
