Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water - An All Rounder

I was interested to try this product, as I am keen to put the best things possible on my skin, to keep it clean and fresh without too many additives. The product did indeed do what it stated it would, I found that my skin was fresh, taught and very clean after using the cleansing water. It was not heavy to use at all, really just like water! There is no fragrance either which is great for those of us who like our skincare fragrance free or subtle. The size of the packaging is very generous too, it will go a long way.

Tips: I tried the product on cotton pads and tissues, it definitely works better in the pads as it goes a lot further.

A great alternative

It seemed to good too be true, a cleanser with simple, yet almost perfect cleansing capability. After reading the hype I was sceptical, dubious and dead curious to give it a try. Here I go with the simple verdict: yes, it works as it says it does, yes, my skin is completely cleansed, yes my skin feels good and ready for night cream or makeup and yes, its quick and easy. So, looks like a winner all round. It retails at 3.99 UK pounds and I saw in Oz for AUS$11.99. the other day. This water product should be as cheap as chips in its simple clear plastic bottle; lets see if it is.

Tips: It spurts out of the flip top and its easy to over soak the cotton pad, so use carefully. Also, will they bring out a smaller bottle for travelling?

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

I received this product free from Beauty Review and have been using it nightly for nearly a week. Overall I would describe this product as a very light and gentle toner, most suited to those who wear only a little makeup. Most days I just use mascara and a bit of BB cream. This was okay at removing the BB cream but very poor at removing mascara (Lancome, Benefit). On the weekend I wore more makeup - foundation, powder, blush, eye shadow etc and found I needed to use a moist towelette first (Simple) and then this cleansing water. It did okay on my face, but I had to resort to my usual makeup remover for my eyes. I'd recommend it for anyone who wants a very gentle rinse after normal cleansing, instead of toning.

Tips: Not for those looking for a heavy duty makeup remover...

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water - No Aha Moment!

I have always been scrupulous about cleaning my face before going to bed and was very interested by Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water promises.

I do not wear much make-up and some days I actually don't wear any. A little squirt of Micellar Water on a cotton pad does the trick every evening. The make-up or the impurities of the day are easily removed. However, for me, the product does half what it claims.

Why only half? After the cleansing of my sensitive clear skin, I do not have a "aha" or "feel good" moment. My face is clean, but my skin is irritated; irritated and not refreshed.

The RRP of $12.99 is a good price for a 400ml bottle. Garnier claims the bottle contains the equivalent to 200 applications. I agree. It is good that the bottle is made of #1 polyethylene terephthalate, which is supposed to be a safer plastic, and can be recycled in New Zealand.

I would not recommend the product to friends who have a sensitive skin, due to the irritation I am experiencing.

Tips: Do not squeeze too much Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water on the cotton pad. The product will foam and it is not nice.

Garnier MIcellar Ceansing

I was pleasantly surprised at this product did all what it stated, It took my make up off with out having to use any pressure or rubbing, found that my skin did not feel dry or tight after using as I thought it might, just felt clean and refreshed A nice product to use in the morning to start the day. Loved the size of the bottle as this will last quite a long time.

Tips: When using the product at night time I would use the other side of my towlette which had product on it to take any excess.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

I must have been hiding under a rock, as I had never heard of Micellar cleansing water. When I started to read some reviews I was intrigued. And I must say this product didn't disappoint! The packaging is nice and feminine looking, pink lid, easy pour dispenser, so you can control how much comes out. It looks clean and clear and inviting to use. It smells a bit like witch hazel toner, which isn't unpleasant. I currently use Double wear foundation , which is notoriously hard to remove, so I was a bit sceptical as to whether "water" would do it. But amazingly it does! I did use four cotton pads, instead of the one recommended, but it removed every ounce of my foundation, and left my skin feeling smooth and comfortable, not at all dry and tight, and neither was it oily. I am a convert for sure! Amazing and so convenient, I can sit in front of my favourite tv show and remove my makeup , so that its all done by bedtime, as sometimes, when I drag myself to bed , I have to force myself to remove my makeup ( and occasionally, not often, I have slept in it, naughty I know how bad it is for my skin) The only issue I have with this product is that it doesn't remove my mascara, which is waterproof, even if I soaked a pad and left it on my eye for 1 minute, it still didn't come off. I think an oily remover is the only way to remove waterproof mascara. But that's ok, I'm so happy with the job it did on my skin, I can cope with removing my mascara separately!

My face is on firrrreeeeeeee!

I loved the sound of this product. A makeup remover that cleanses and soothes at the same time, sign me up. I was so keen to get my hands on it I went to about 6 different shops before I managed to find it. I tweeted about my joyous find to Beauty Review and couldn't wait to get home that night to take it all off (my makeup of course!) The first couple of days were really great my makeup came off without any rubbing or much effort at all really. It even got my mascara off really well after just holding the pad with the cleansing water on for 15 or so seconds. It did feel a bit strange not washing my face with water and progressing straight onto serum and night Creme but hey I was saving time by not washing my face. Then came day three of using it. Please sing along to the tune of Alicia Keys Girl on Fire. My face is on firrrrrreeeeeeee I was standing chatting to hubby taking my makeup off and thought oh that's not quite right. I looked in the mirror and my face especially around my eyes was red and burning. I had to wash it off immediately. My skin still felt a little bit fragile the next day but has come right with no lasting damage. I may try another brands Micellar Water but after much hype and excitement my hopes for this product went down in almost literal flames.

The first of its kind

I've never used or heard of anything like this, and if there was, it's not this affordable. Despite reading the mechanism behind it, I was surprised it didn't smell chemically at all! It was very neutral, no fragrance at all.

It took 2 cotton balls (split each in half) to remove my face make up completely and half a cotton ball to remove my waterproof mascara. I was hesitant to put this on my eyes, expecting it to sting with its chemical properties but I felt nothing at all, and most importantly it removed all of my eye make up!

Although you would need a couple of bags of cotton balls a month to remove make up alone, it is a great value and good lazy make up remover. I still had to rub skin to get the make up off, but I don't have to deal with water running down my arms when I wash my face. Would definitely buy again and recommend this to anyone for camping, sleep overs, or at work at the end of the day.

Tips: To remove mascara, hold the dampen cotton ball over your eye for a few seconds so the product will remove more easily and prevent extra tugging.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

I was excited to trial this product, having read a lot of great things about it.

Pros: - Generous 400ml sized bottle with simple but eye catching graphics. I'm slightly skeptical of the bottle containing enough for 200 uses. Maybe if you don't wear full makeup. - The water has a neutral 'fresh' smell. No cloying perfume, which I appreciated. I used it on a cotton makeup remover pad and it glided easiky over my skin. - I have red hair and the obligatory pale, sensitive skin. The water left my skin feeling slightly tingly, like with a very mild toner. I have always been a creamy cleanser, toner & moisturiser girl, using a washcloth instead of wipes or tissues. I always use an organic cleansing range for my normal routine due to sensitive skin. This product caused no adverse reactions. There's a slight tacky feeling afterwards, like with gels or serums. - All foundation came off relatively easily but it did require using 2-3 cotton pads.

Cons: - I struggled to remove waterproof mascara.

Over the course of a week I ended up using my normal cleanser for evenings, when I had a full face of makeup to remove. Then I used the Micellar Water to remove the last traces of makeup. In the morning I used the water by itself. Definitely a great product to have in your beauty product stash.

Holy Water!

I was a bit skeptical about a "water" being able to remove and cleanse make up off completely, but I now stand corrected and slightly in awe! What an amazing product. It does exactly as it claims.

With just a few swipes of the cotton pad, all traces of make up and dirt is gone and my skin is left feeling clean and hyrdrated. I love it that my skin is no longer left feeling dry and stretched which I normally experience after cleansing. As it stays damp it also helps the moisturiser soak in too. There have been no adverse reactions or breakouts.

One of the biggest bonuses is the time saved (not to mention quite a few dollars) from using eye make up remover, make up remover and then cleanser, then washing it all off. This has cut my nightly ritual down by at least 5 minutes!

The bottle is a nice size and will last for ages, and the price - well you can't go wrong there. I am really impressed by this product and would definitely buy it again. Well done Garnier and thanks BR for giving me the opportunity to try it because I probably would not have believed the hype, but definitely a believer now.

Tips: Don't oversoak the cotton pad, you don't need to. I use two, the second one just to make sure I got it all, but it's really not necessary. Also nice to use in the morning, as it's quite refreshing and will take away the last traces of the night products.
