Neutrogena Pore Refining Exfoliating Cleanser Review

I've used this on and off over the years, depending on how oily my skin is feeling, This is a nice exfoliator, not harsh but effective. I didn't like how stripped it made my skin feel though. It felt very dry and tight after using it and I didn't notice any reduction in the size of my pores or any effect on breakouts. It was ok, but not really effective for me.

I do suffer from bumpy skin and larger pores, with breakouts around my chin, so I was keen to try this product. After about a weeks use I have found my skin to be much smoother with less visible pores, and have not had any new outbreaks. So yes, I would definately use this again

This product is like something our of Mary Poppins - unbelievable.

The tube: 198ml white, elegant, sleek tube. Very little colour, colours that are used are sliver, black and blue - screams elegant not cheap. Easy to use - just a gentle squeeze and it comes out.

The fragrance: Soft and gentle. It is such a gentle smell, not at all over powering. In fact I really like the clean, refreshing and gentle fragrance.

The formula: perfect! You only need a very little, a little goes a long way. A white cream that has very fine exfoliating beads that help to remove the dead skin. It tingled the very first time that I used the product but I have had not reaction or tingling since then! I have used the product morning and night for almost 2 weeks now.

The price: at approximately $16 it is a bargain. I have tried more expensive creams as well as cheaper creams and had no results. Whilst I don't believe you have to buy the most expensive product on the market I do think that sometimes the cheaper products are just that - cheap and not very good for your skin.

The cleanser definitely leaves your skin feeling cleaner and fresher after use. The micro-beads are so gentle. It does not dry your skin out or leave it feeling tight and uncomfortable. I use this both morning and night. I love the results and feel that it has definitely worked on my skin. I have seen a reduction in the appearance of my pores, although it is not obvious at first glance I think I can see a result.

My skin is definitely looking more even and smoother.

My skin type: SENSITIVE combination skin – but heavily leaning to dry Days tested: 8 - once a day in morning Result: Less red and more even toned but no visible reduction in pore size. My skin happened to be particularly bad with dry redness, spots pores the week that I started. Change in weather and damned airco at work playing havoc, drying out my skin like crazy. The first couple of days of cleansing with Neutrogena Pore Refining Exfoliating Cleanser were tough I woke up every morning VERY dry and during the day I could feel my skin drying out by the second (airco I hate you) even with my 2+ litres a day of water and morning and night moisturizing. I changed my skin routine up by day 3 or 4, kept the morning ritual the same but started using a heavy cream at night. Day 7 and 8 are showing improvement in terms of drying out, slightly, and still see no reduction in pore size (I took before and after pics) I do believe that Neutrogena Cleanser has aided in reduction of redness and spots and creating a more even toned skin but definitely. I would struggle to recommend unless I see drastic improvement. Will continue to use for another couple of weeks to give it a month but sadly this is currently not a HG cleanser for me!

The first time I used this I was quite pleased with how fine the grains are and that it doesn't lather too much, which usually puts me off facial cleansers. It has a very mild fragrance. Initially I was using morning and evening but I started to dry my cheeks out so I switched to t zone in the morning and all over in the evening which solved that issue. By day 4 the pores on my nose and chin were visibly clean and day 6 they were barely visible at all. My skin is smooth and soft now which is awesome!

I have trialled this for a week. Was expecting it to be a good product. A bit disappointed. The microbeads are very micro - cannot really feel them, so doesn't feel like an exfoliator. Because of the lack of exfoliation "feel" and the absence of a lather I felt like I had to use more to cover face. A little doesn't go a long way. It did wash off easy. I am used to using 100% natural soap on my face, so I found this 'non soap' product quite drying ( I have normal to oily skin). Cannot see any change to pore size after a week.

First of all, the size if the product is so generous. Not too big too hold, but not so small you feel like you'll need a refill in 2 weeks! Second, the packaging is clean, simple, and the texture feel really nice when you hold it. Thirdly...great value for price. And finally...how I liked the product. As someone who has large pores, extremely oily skin, but am over 40, I am always weary of oily skin products or acne products...usually they don't work...or minimise anything except my wallet. This product had zero fragrance, the exfoliator was smooth, not ridged, and my face felt clean and smooth after each wash, It was a bit tighter than my normal cleanser (also exfoliating and actually stronger ingredients) but I tend to be a bit less oily this time of year as it gets colder. I definitely needed my serum and hydration afterwards. I believe this product also upholds the Neutrogena reputation. I do not think it's for everyone though...especially this time of year.

I tried this product everyday for 5 days,as per directions,it left my skin feeling cleansed but not so much exfoliated as it was more of a cream based cleanser than a exfoliant,i found it lacked the much needed micro beads to help rid the skin of impurities & unblock pores,having combination skin which changes all the time,i feel this product did not work to well with my ever so changing skin type alas what doesnt work for me,may work wonders for you.x

OK, I was sent this product to try for a couple of days. I have used it for 6 days.

1) The packaging is great, nice big tube - no hassles there.

2) The smell of the cleanser isn't something that I personally enjoy. Its the basic smell. No WOW Factor. 3) The exfoliating micro beads are VERY micro. I feel like there could be more for a better exfoliate but its very very gentle. I felt like i had to use a good amount each time as i felt it wasn't cleanser very well.

4) As for the visible reduction of pores, i haven't seen any change, i have used for 6 days so maybe more time?

5) After using, I feel my skin is REALLY dry. A Good Toner and moisturizer is needed.

In the 6 days i haven't had any real issues (pimples, end of day oil) .

My make up glides on with out issue and I don't have to reapply mid-day.

I would recommend this to someone who has sensitive skin and wants to exfoliate.

Im happy that i got to review this product because it really did help my skin out and i love trying new face washes. It cleaned deeply and decreased pore size as well as breakouts. I have fairly large pores which shows more with makeup on so i really loved using this product lately. When washing my face it didnt sting my eyes and after rinsing made my sking feel ultra smooth.

I would definately purchase again because i feel it does what it says its ment to do and recently i havent had any problems with my skin while using this product.
