After the first use my skin was GLOWING. I had recently done a nose strip for my blackheads, they usually come back after a couple of days but its been a week and i still don't have any! I bought the charcoal sponge and i love it. I use it with water alone after removing all of my make up.

So i don't know if i believe the stuff about konjac clearing up all acne etc etc but what i like about this is that it gently exfoliates the skin. it makes skin feel so soft, smooth and clean afterwards. definitely recommend as a part of an everyday routine
Tips: put a small amount of cetaphil cleanser on the sponge after soaking
I had seen this little sponge floating around my Instagram feed and a couple of pages that I follow on facebook and I thought I really wanted to try and see if this sponge could do anything for me.
Luckily I found a few different types of the Konjac range at my local pharmacy so I picked up the natural style Konjac which is the half ball shape. Which on the packet says it helps with exfoliation, cleansing the pores and skin moisturizing. I thought this would be a good one to start with to see how it performed.
Once you open the packet, the feel of it, is like a hard small rock or a kitchen sponge that has been left out to dry for a week or so, I then read the instructions to put it under warm water for 30 seconds and squeeze water from it gently and before you know it, it doubles in size.
Nice and simple to use, buff it around your skin in small circular motions I do it for about a 45 seconds to a minute 15 seconds in each area, (nose, cheeks, chin, forehead) and what I was left with is really noticeably clear looking, soft feeling skin. I was impressed, in saying that I really need to use this twice a day for the effects to really stay, I have noticed my pore size is decreasing as its really getting those pores that were clogged, nice and clear.
Its easy to fit into my skincare routine, I cleanse and exfoliate normally then use this after I have washed off my exfoliating scrub, so my skin is still damp, then pat dry my skin and apply serum and moisturiser.
You do have to look after this really well, as I found it was starting to grow little mould dots, as it wasn't drying properly in the shower. So I had to purchase a new one which I rememeber to remove from the shower, gently squeeze and excess water from it after I finish, pat dry in a towel and leave on window sill with window open to air dry and this one has lasted much longer.
I love how my skin feels after I use this, I will continue to use this and dry different styles.
I received the Natural Konjac Sponge in the "Beautiful Christmas NZ Beauty Advent Calendar". It's not an item I would have gone out to buy on my own and I'm happy to say it's a sponge that I now have to have in my skincare routine.
I use the sponge every night before bed because I feel like I'm getting rid of all the grime that my makeup remover and water couldn't get rid of. The sponge gently and almost effectively removes the rest of the dirt left behind without irritating the skin.
It's rock solid to start with but light weight. You need to soak it for 3-5 minutes under warm water which I only did the first time I was used it. After that, I just soaked it under warm water until soft which takes less than a minute.
The first time I used it, I just used it on its own and worked it across every inch of my face and concentrated on my nose. My face felt soft and clean afterwards as if I had removed an extra layer of dirt that I hadn't seen there before. A few hours later my face still felt soft and clean but nose on the other hand seem to go back to being bumpy.
The next day I did two rounds, the first with my gentle exfoliating cleanser and the second with my anti-bacterial milk cleanser and again my skin felt soft, clean and more refreshed. Unfortunately my nose didn't seem to benefit whatsoever from the combination.
That aside, I've had positive results with using the sponge in addition to the cleansers on my skin because I've had a few people comment on how good my makeup looks. I have NOT changed the way I apply or use my makeup so I do feel it's because the sponge has created a better canvas for my makeup to sit on.
I wish the sponge would be as effective on my nose as it is on the rest of my face but I guess that area needs something more "heavy duty" like microdermabrasion - which I'm due for - sigh. I'm happy with the results that I've achieved so far.
I purchased this product after hearing that it does wonders for your skin - including dealing with breakouts, blackheads and whiteheads. I was told that you need to soak it in lukewarm water until it was soft and could be used without scratching the surface of your skin. It feels absolutely amazing after being soaked - and even better when you're massaging your face with it. After I had used it the first time, I was amazed at how soft and supple my skin felt. It had cleaned all the built up oil off my face but at the same time, my skin still felt hydrated and not dried out. I also love how they sell different ranges according to your skin type. If you are looking for a natural and effective way to cleanse your skin, definitely give this one a go!
Tips: Always leave this out to air dry in a well ventilated area after each use, otherwise it will ruin very quick
After hearing so many good things, I decided I needed to try these! I got the charcoal sponge to help with acne. I have been using it for about a month now and I have been really enjoying it. I use it without any cleanser, just water, to help prolong the life of the sponge, plus I don't feel like I need to use any products with it as it makes my skin feel great all by itself. I'm usually terrible at remembering to add new things into my routine, but this is great cause I can just use it in the shower, and being a busy mum the shower is usually the only quiet time I get during the day, so any excuse to stay in there and extra minute or two is awesome. The sponge feels so nice against my skin that I find myself using it for a lot longer than I would if I was just washing my face with cleanser. It makes my skin feel soft, smooth and very clean. I'm not convinced it has helped with my redness like I had heard it would, but my skin is feeling great and I have much less spots and pimples than before I started using the sponge. I'm really enjoying it and I will definitely keep using it, and natural products get a big tick from me!
Tips: Store in a cool dry place, out of direct sun light. If the sponge dries out, just soak it in water a bit before use. Also don't wring the sponge out, just press flat to remove excess water after use :)
I got the Charcoal one to give it ago. I had once again heard all the hype about this and got sucked in. AND thanks goodness I did!! My skin has been terrible for the last two years, with acne on my face and chest. I have tried all sorts and nothing seemed to work. I used this for three weeks and could see a noticeable difference. It didn't remove my acne completely ( I would need a miracle for that :) but it took out all the red and anger out of the pimples and helped soften the blackheads for removal. I would recommenced this for anyone who is having trouble with their skin and wants to try a natural remedy.
This review will be on two different types First is Natural : this is a sponge made from natural ingredients & very similar to a loofah when dried but like a beauty blender once wet it becomes pliable. It is soft to the skin once wet & it feels nice to use. I used it both with and without cleanser on makeup & no makeup this did lift of debris but not totally there as residue left behind & it also left clear looking skin. My pores didn't reduce in size & I got good few month use of it until I just the it out. 2nd: charcoal which is for oily skin I have combo to oily skin type so am happily using this I see no difference either either types I do see how it gently exfoliates my skin lifting of debris & makeup but it still leaves some behind so afterward I'm having to remove excess with my toner or a micellar water. While both types were gifts I'm happy to repurchase because it's inexpensive & does leave radiant looking skin.
These certainly do work I have blackheads that like to hang around and this sponge did the trick. Really good for people who a conservative and think about the environment when buying products. I think these make a really good gift a well.
Honestly. I didn't believe the whole water only konjac sponge. But you wet it and it goes super silky like no other sponge you would typically get for face washing. You don't need cleanser with this as the sponge has its own antimicrobial agents going on. The absolute beauty of it. I like to buy 3 at a time as I replace it every 8 weeks or so. It's a natural face washing sponge. What's more better than that?
Tips: ALWAYS ALWAYS dry completely after each use. Hang it up, don't let it sit and drip. Make sure to squeeze out all the excess water and then hang in a well ventilated area to dry COMPLETELY before putting it away. I recommend a little soap container if you can't hang it up and leave it on the windowsill to air dry without excess moisture getting to it.
