Lush Dreamwash Shower Smoothie Review

Soothing shower soap to calm red, dry skin. Dreamwash is a perfect smoothie for troubled skin. It’s incredibly mild and actively soothing - wonderful for skin with a habit of going flaky and red when you touch it with anything other than plain water. We mix chamomile with calamine, calming aloe vera, soothing rose, tea tree and lavender essential oils. It’s the dreamiest wash available for sensitive skin.

Not for me, but might be good for you!

I was recommended this by a LUSH employee when I asked her what LUSH products are good to help soothe eczema.

On first glance, it looked very promising, with all its natural and soothing ingredients, and calamine powder as the first ingredient! (reminding me of that magical lotion my mother put on me when I had chicken pox as a child, haha)

It smells amazing, perfect for bedtime as it has a very calming, relaxing scent. It is a very cute pale pink colour. As it is a shower smoothie, it is much thicker than a gel, but softer than a soap, and has a nice thick, creamy, consistency.

I was put off by the rather big price tag, but I was assured by the LUSH girl you only need a small amount in the shower. This is NOT true. It doesn't lather at all and like the directions say, you actually need to scoop out a handful to wash your entire body. So not that great for someone on a student budget like me.

Also, it did NOT help my eczema- it felt good at the time, but after a week or two of use my eczema was definitely not improving, it actually looked worse. I'm not exactly sure what ingredient affected me, but I do have super-sensitive skin and have to avoid a lot of different things in soaps, so I stopped using it.

I chose to return the product and receive a full refund (which i promptly spent on bath bombs!)

Although this product is not for me, I would still recommend it to others who have less sensitive skin, and want a nice moisturising, luxurious feeling shower product.

P.S. I'm really interested to see if anyone else with sensitive skin or eczema has tried this??

Tips: LUSH has a great return policy, so you can always do what I did, try it out, and if you react badly to it like I did, return it for a full refund x

Also I found it went a bit further if you use with a loofah or shower sponge.

Dreamy scent but strange consistency

I was lucky enough to receive this for a birthday a few years back and it lasted forever, largely because I only used it at night and usually shower in the morning.

Lush Dreamwash is a shower soap, which comes in one of their 'big black pottles' - great if you go to Lush a bit, because if you return 5 of those, you get a free mask! It did make me very curious as to how a shower product in that format was going to work - I'm used to them being in squeezy bottle, or bar form!

This has a consistency sort of like a clay mask - it's very thick and scoopable, and leaves obvious traces of residue on the skin. It's a very pretty pale purply colour, and smells gorgeously relaxing with the herbal and floral elements, and it rinses away cleanly, so that isn't an issue - but was a little disconcerting at first!

I adore Lush Shower gels, and find they leave my skin silky and nice - this was a little more drying, which perplexed me as it is marketed as a soothing, calming product. My skin soon recovered if I used a lotion after, but the at-the-time feeling wasn't ideal.

The scent is lovely, and it hangs around for a while, which made it a good product to use to wind down before bed in an aromatherapy sense. It's not cheap, and you need a decent handful of product to cover you as it doesn't really spread or lather, and also doesn't thin out easily, so it's a more expensive option best left for the at-night shower when you need to relax a bit more before bed. Even then, there are better products on the market for cheaper.

I do really like the concept, ingredients, and scent, but I would not repurchase this as it didn't work well for my skin and at this price, from a quality company, I feel like I should be able to rave about it.

Tips: Lush are amazing at samples - definitely ask for a sample pottle and try before you buy. If you've skin issues I suggest trying it just on your hands to begin with (or feet if your hands are where the skin issue is maybe) to get a feel for if it will work with your skin.

Smells amazing !

I was in lush speaking about my sensitive skin and how I'm suffering from exma at the moment. She instantly recommended this along with another product that was a "skin conditioner" I smelt the tub and I was pretty much sold, especially after her amazing talk of the product. She offered me the other item also but the price tag was heavy enough but I took a sample.

Once in the shower the next day I move the shower head away and took a generous scoop and started lathering my body. I found it didn't seem to spread very far and I needed another scoop. I found the consistency kind of weird.... My skin felt taught and not very smooth after it washed off. It felt a lot better after using the sample of "Ro's argon body conditioner" I have found my exma has settled a little bit and doesn't flare up as much after using the smoothie for a week but without the argon conditioner I don't like the way my skin feel after using it, and I cant see myself purchasing the other product any time soon as it was more expensive then the shower smoothie. I have encouraged my family to help me use the shower smoothie so it doesn't go to waste :/ If the products together weren't to pricey I would buy them again !!

Tips: I reccommend using "Ro's Argon Body Conditioner" after using the "shower smoothie" if you don't like the way the smoothie feels alone.

Lush Dreamwash Shower Smoothie

I received a sample pot of this as I have psoriasis and the sales assistant suggested this. I was happy to try as I am quite self conscious about my condition.

The sales assistant did suggest I take something to moisturise my skin, I told her I already have Ro's Argan body conditioner {love}.

I used my sample in the shower the next morning. It smelt beautiful, and felt calming. The texture was unusual, not ikky, but not what I was expecting. It is easy to get out of the pot, but does not lather like a lot of other products. this did not bother me so much as I was looking for particular result.

It did give me a good result as far as a shower wash goes with the added bonus of being very calming and soothing.

I thought it did a decent job on my elbows so I did return to Lush and purchase a full sized pot.

I don't use this everyday as my elbows seem to do nicely with a once a week shower with this.

In combination with the Ro's I think I have found a great way to keep my problem skin under control.

I think this product would benefit people with problem skin. I would even try it on children, it is that calming and soothing.
