I have read so many rave reviews about revlon colorstay foundation. Alot of people seem to love it. My first impressions of it: it is quite thick and dried very quickly once it was on my skin. I know this is a common trait of long wear foundations. With my old foundation I could dot it all over my face and take my time blending it out. Not so with this one. I had to apply very small amounts and blend each part of my face one at a time. Kinda annoying and time consuming and found it a little hard to create a perfect base because of this. Felt a bit patchy and thick. Yes this formula is very thick. The coverage was great. I think the good coverage of colorstay is what alot of people seem to like. But I definately felt like I had alot of product on my skin and it was thick or nothing. No in between. I stuck with it even though I wasn't initally that impressed or enjoying it on my skin. I was waiting for something to change and hoping i would see what all the buzz was about. by the end of the first week my skin was in a shocking state. It was so dry. I have never had such bad lizard skin! And when i used my cleanser to remove it would sting, same with my moisturiser. My skin was red and sensitive. over the last two days of wesring colorstay my skin got alot worse very quickly. I stopped using the colorstay. it took me 2 weeks to get my skin balanced and back to normal. But i shed dry skin that whole time.it was super gross. so needless to say. I am not a fan of this foundation!I something in that formula definately reacted on my skin. Since my experience was the exact opposite of loving it. I did some more research into it. And discovered the oily/combo skin formula seems to be a winner with alot of people. More so than the dry formula. But I personally wont be giving the other one a shot after the mess this left my skin in.
The positives: it is pretty heavy coverage to cover blemishes if thats what you are looking for. And definately long wearing. Just not for me and my skin. won't be purchasing this again.
Excuse the capitals! I hate hate hate this foundation with a passion I wish I could snatch it away from the shelves. Everyone swears by this but my experience was completely different. Revlon colour stay is deceiving your first experience is very very good..you will notice excellent coverage and ok shades to pick from. So you will be cruising along thinking woahh my skins look so clear...then BOOM before you know it you have dry crusty skin everywhere. I am a beauty therapist so I always use good skincare and take time in my regime to maintain my skins health. I suffer from dry skin so I bought the dry foundation...oh dear oh dear this worsens it. I suspect it's something to do with the staying power of the foundation...as it is so difficult to remove. Another pet hate is when you ladies wear it to a facial...nightmare. It just has such a cakey consistency and clings to the skin..it clings to every dry imperfection and draws more attention to the fact you are wearing foundation. It is the biggest no no for foundation in my eyes! I cringe when I walk past the Revlon counter. Not the best option for foundation I am afraid. Ok rant over...but if I could give it zero kisses it would have zero kisses just for the negative impact it had on my skin.
Tips: Never buy it :) Kidding....Facial wipes will not remove this you will probably need to do three facial cleanses...and you will still have it hanging around in your hair line and nose crevices etc...MOISTURISE MOUSTURISE!
