Winning Streak & High Stakes

In all honesty I only brought these after I tried the other gel nail enamel on the NZ market, seeing that the Revlon version has more colour variety to its range I wanted to like them as much if not more than the other I had tried.

Picking up the compulsory top coat that you need to seal the base colours, along with Winning Streak (Lilac/purple) and High Stakes (Emerald green) I tidied up and prepped my nails apply 2 coats, letting each coat dry fully then topped this off with the top coat. Winning Streak being a pale colour needed 3 coats to be honest and on the second time I re did my nails I made sure I did at least 3 and then a nice solid pastel purple was achieved, High Stakes was solid on just 2 coats.

Application was easy; the brush is a good size to allow the 3 strikes rule without smudging all over your fingers or missing the edges of the nail. The formula is a little thicker than normal enamels and it is very easy to blob so you need to breathe and go slow, no overloading of the brush to get an even coat as it will just create a lumpy finish. Dry time is very fast between coats which is an added bonus with the top coat taking only about 1 minutes to be fully set.

Durability, well..........they did last longer than their competitor however still not the full 11 days as promoted. I did however manage to keep them all nails unmarked, or scuffed for a full 6 days which is a new record for me so would recommend them. With the colour choice available to the NZ market being quite a range I think I will be investing in some more of these as although they don’t live up to the 11 days they do give me longer than normal life of enamels, a super high glossy shine that doesn’t fade until you take them off and also I love the texture of a gel that this enamel provides.

Such vivid colours!!

I'm usually a china glaze chick, but the gel envy colours caught my eye in the chemist, and the idea of gel type longer lasting polish made me curious but quite low on my list of wants in a polish as I recolor my nails frequently. I ended up buying the shade showtime along with the top coat. The advertising gives the impression that you need the top coat to go with the nail polish as a 2 step system, but the reality is that while it gives it strength and shine you can wear the nail polish without it. I really don't think its particularly long lasting although it does last longer than standard polish. My actual love about the polish is how vivid and shiny the colours are.. I own 3 colours in this range. The showtime is purple with tiny blue glitter in it, All In which is a lighter peacock metallic colour and Blackjack which is black.

I'll continue to buy them when I see them on special, but I don't think that they are worth the RRP of $20 each. The 3 colours plus the top coat I own were purchased from unichem on a buy one, get one free special. In saying that, they have some truly gorgeous colours and I'd probably repurchase Showtime at full price as its my fav colour.

Tips: Use the Blackjack (black) with other brand sheer or metallic colours over the top for a cool oil slick colours type effect.. :)

Interesting to try

I have wanted to try the Revlon Gel Envy nail polish ever since it came out and lucky enough I saw them on sale just a few days ago. I bought two of them, the diamond top coat and a white called Sure Thing. The white comes out exactly how it looks in the bottle which is a really bright white and because it is quite thick but still a nice consistency I only had to apply one coat to my nails to make them look good. The brush on the white nail polish is very big making it quick and easy to apply to the nail however it does make it a little harder to create nice edges and not get too much on the skin around your nail. The diamond top coat's brush is two brushes put side by side, this makes it quicker to apply. The bottles look rather professional as if they could be in a salon. My nails started to chip not long after I applied the nail polish but to be fair I was doing things that caused them to chip, not all of them are chipped though and after a few days are still decent looking, a lot better than some other nail polishes I've tried. I wonder if I applied two coats of the white next time it might make it last longer until it chips.

Tips: Try to paint them when there is natural UV light so that they try faster.

Revlon Colorstay polish

I always have my nails painted but they are always chipping after a few days. I have tried gels in the past and loved it. After trying this gel polish I found that it lasted a long time. It was easy to apply and quick to dry. Definitely going to buy more colours.

Not bad!

I bought two of these late last year after being sick of nail polish chipping so quickly, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I found it easy to apply, albeit thicker than my normal polishes. I did noticed that it retracted slightly on my nails as it dried however, but that may be because I sat outside? I was happy with the price and the range of colours.

Tips: Apparently you can buy the UV light machine thingees to dry them quickly and properly - might be worth the investment!

awesome

Looking around the vibrant purple colour just jumped out at me, screaming buy me. It is a thin yet easy to apply formula. It was great to get the right amount to apply in a smooth even manner. It did take alot longer to dry which was frustrating, but had a beautiful finish. It lasted about 3 days before i need to reapply. pretty good considering how ruff on my nails. all and all lives up to the hype

Tips: have plenty of time for drying

Love the colour!

I was looking for an alternative way of getting my nails professionally done with a gel manicure and so I tried this Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy as they are cheaper than the Sally Hansen Gel Polish.

I really love the formula, the nail polish has a great consistency, making it easy to apply and I really love the end finish. The brush is nice and wide, great for distributing the polish evenly and it doesn't go streaky like some other gel nail polishes. The polish dried out pretty quick in a reasonable time too (no light needed).

I did not use any base coat. I always applied 2 coats of nail polish. The result is still amazing without a base coat. The nail polish has a beautiful shiny finish, the shine on my nails is amazeballs. All the shades of this range are absolutely beautiful.

I do dishes every day. On day 4 of application, I would notice the colour started to chip away at the edges but still looked as shiny and glossy as the first day.

Overall, I enjoy using these Gel Nail Polish. The only disappointment is that the colour always seems to chip away within 3-4 days of application. However, despite the lack of longevity, the Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy still has many positive attributes such as: easy to apply in a few strokes, it dries quickly, only need 2 coats and still get an opaque beautiful shiny finish, and there is no need to use a base coat. I would probably purchase a few more shades!

Topcoat is great

I got this in Card Shark, a pale candy pink. Like most pastels, this was pretty chalky and streaky when applying and the durability was nothing special. But the top coat is fantastic - quick-drying and very shiny, very similar to Sally Hansen Insta-Dri.

Tips: Get the topcoat!

Colorstay Gel Envy

I currently have these polishes in the following colours:

* Blue Slate - darkish bluey grey

* Hold Em - dark purple

* Jokers Wild - pinky coral

* All or nothing - creamy white

* Checkmate - nude beige

I have always loved getting gel nails done but haven't enjoyed paying for them so when there was a polish with the wording gel I thought Id give them a try (plus they were on special) .

I find these polishes consistency are easy to apply and the brushes are great to work with. Normally one or two strokes is all that's needed. I find its better to apply less product so it dries quicker and then build up colour with further coats, otherwise it takes awhile to dry. (who likes waiting for polish to dry - not me!)

I normally always apply diamond top coat as recommend and find the colour and shine lasts pretty well. I tend to find the ends of my nails wear more than chip. The actual polish itself lasts ages without going gluggy making for a good quality nail polish. The final result on my finger nails does feel similar to that of gel.

What I like most about these polishes is the colour range on offer, all the tones are really nice and wearable. They are longer wearing than most which is why - if on special - I would purchase again.

Tips: To get extended wear and keep nails shiny apply diamond top coat again after 2 - 3 of days of wear.

Gel envy

A good quality nail polish that is easily purchased at your local pharmacy or farmers store. I purchased "Try your luck" which is a beautiful metallic like blue shade. It lasts quite well with minimal chipping. Comes in several different shades for around $20 each which is a very good price for a good quality polish.

Tips: Use with the Top coat to provide yourself with a longer lasting application with less chipping.
