Lush Prince Shaving Cream Review

Our most luxurious shaving cream for thick, burly beards, Prince is made with Fair Trade cocoa butter to moisturize and soften the skin whilst you shave to minimize irritation. Rose water, almond oil and witch hazel work together to leave your pores feeling clean and free of shaving debris. Plus, the fresh neroli scent is the perfect way to start the day. This shaving cream makes every man feel like a prince.

For Princes and Princesses!

I bought a 100gm pot of this in the lush boxing day sale. I usually use lotion to shave with but I do like trying out new creams every now and then. This was half price and around $6 so I couldn't pass it up. It never even occurred to me that this was a product made for men, even though it seems kind of obvious with the word prince in the name! I do use mens razors so I suppose this actually fits in quite well with my shaving regimen.

I like the packaging of this, it's just the lush black pot, but it's sturdy and screws up tightly. A bonus with this packaging is that if you take 5 clean, empty jars back to lush, they will give you a free face mask! This also has a sticker on it telling you exactly when it was made, who by and a use by date.

The smell of this is interesting, I really can't place it to anything else I have smelled before. It's a mens product so not sweet at all but it's not like aftershave or anything. I'd say kind of earthy and citrusy? Awesome description of course but that's the best I can do!

This looks like a thick white body butter. It also feels like it. To use, I wet my legs first, then get a finger scoop amount of this and rub it over my leg. I find you don't need a heap of product which means you get a lot of shaves out of this little pot. I also like that you don't need much, as the razor doesn't get clogged in one swipe so you can get the shaving done quickly. I have never experienced any kind of irritation whilst using this and it also leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth afterwards. I do still moisturise after but I have dry skin, if you have normal skin or oily, I don't think you would need to.

I could see myself picking this up again in the future, most likely on sale though. I can't say I would never want to be without it but it is a nice product to use.

Makes every man feel like a prince?

I wouldn't know, I'm not a man :p I do use this though, to help in shaving 'sensitive areas'. Read: armpits/bikini zone: I don't use it on legs (too expensive; conditioner works fine) but started using it on those areas after a Lush girl suggested it when I went in looking for something to soothe post-shaving icky bumps and redness.

This isn't a failsafe, but it makes a huge difference for me.

Lush Prince Shaving Cream comes in the classic black Lush pottle with white 'graffiti' writing. These are great because if you empty five and take them back in, you get a free mask!

This product is a thickish cream in a rich white, pleasantly scented with neroli, which gives it a slightly spicy tang. This is intended for men, so this isn't a surprise.

You smooth it on and shave it off, taking the hair with it. Obviously you need to keep rinsing your razor as it clogs with product and hair, but what is left behind is smoother, less irritated skin. Since I began using this my 'shaved areas' look and feel much better, and I'm not getting the awful red bumps, ingrown hairs etc the same because the skin is less irritated and the follicles seem happier.

For $14.90 the pottle has lasted a decent length of time - I've had this a few months and it's about half gone. I will definitely re-buy this product and keep using it as it's making such a difference for me. I'd like to find an after-care lotion to use in conjunction with it too.

Lol, I just bought this in the boxing day sale. It didn't click at all that prince meant it was a male product! I'm looking forward to trying it out though.

Lush Prince Shaving Cream

I picked up this product in last year's Boxing Day sale because while it's targeted at guys, the ingredients list (and the Lush website) emphasised that it's a unisex product.

Some Lush products can be perceived as not cost effective, but this big tub lasts ages (in fact I had to hurry to use it all up after the recommended expiry date) and I loved that it's nourishing enough that I could go without moisturising afterwards... what I don't love so much is the beeswax/oils seemed to clog up my razor (and seemed to stick to the shower floor!). Because it did clog my razor, unfortunately I wouldn't buy it again for myself. I used this on my legs and underarms, and it definitely prevented nicks and there was absolutely no sign of irritation. The texture was nice and thick so I could see what parts I'd done and it allowed the razor to glide easily, but I think it would definitely work better for guys shaving their face over the sink, where it's more practical to rinse the razor after each stroke.

Tips: I personally like the scent (it's mainly citrus but also kind of earthy), while my (female) flatmate isn't a fan - so take the opportunity to smell the scent in store before you purchase.

Funny, I was trying my best to think of a scent description and earthy was all I could come up with too. I'm glad it seems to be a legitimate scent!
