A pretty average shampoo

The first thing I noticed when I opened the courier package for the trial was the strong smell; it smells nice but it's way too stronger smell for my liking. When I used the Shampoo I used the normal amount that I would usually do but had to end up using 2 times the normal amount I would use just to get my hair to lather which was quite disappointing. And when I rinsed it out my hair felt like straw and was very knotty, it certainly did not feel moisturised at all.

Tips: Use heaps of the conditioner to untangle your hair and to get moisture back.

Not Overly Impressed

I wasn't particularly impressed with the Pantene Pro-V that I sampled. It said it had taken them 10 years to come up with this formula, which I find hard to believe. It said it was a miracle cure for damaged hair, and my hair is probably moderately damaged. It didn't go anything drastic that I noticed, and I used it over the course of 7 days. It also smelled super soapy and sort of like hair dye, which was a little bit off putting.

Have you found the one yet?

When I think about advertisements for shampoo and conditioner I'm thinking of long curtains of hair trailing in that imaginary wind and coy smiles as women gather their manes and swing them to the camera, so for the average woman noting my lack of TV hair I'm wiling to try anything especially if its suggests to be 'the one I'm looking for.' Pantenes price is certainly a great factor and its clean, understated, fresh linen smell certainly has an appeal in an increasingly fruity market, especially if you'd prefer your perfume, or such, to speak for itself. Offering up to 100% damage protection with a lightweight feel I thought the best test was a workout, followed by blowdry. There wasn;t enough of a clean barrier to stop the sweat crown, but that's not enough of a test so blowdrying my clean, lightly scented (sun dried linen scent) hair was next. It looked fine, however I could feel the weught of the shampoo still. So a second rinse is a good idea. My clean look didn't last to the next morning, surprising for freshly washed hair. So it had a simple scent, it cleaned my hair but didn't wash out well, and I'd need to wash my hair daily to avoid any greasy or flatness. Great for emergency shampoo but not a daily dose.

Tips: Rinse well and use when wanting your perfume to 'scent' for itself

Pantene pro v

My hair felt great after the first time using this but that is normal for when I change my shampoo. After 3 - 4 washes my hair felt heavy and lacked its normal body. It felt like it was coated in something that was making it heavy and I needed to wash my hair more often.

cleans your hair almost squeaky clean

I have been using this everyday for the last 5 days. The shampoo has a nice texture and fragrance and you only need to use a small amount (about size of 50cent piece) to seriously clean your hair. It lathers up quite a bit so you really shouldnt use too much. I have coloured hair and had used a coloured shampoo prior to my trial. I found the shampoo was stripping the colour and making my colour run. Thats how I can say it cleans almost squeaky. Not a bad product but I would probably use something for coloured hair as I found this made my hair dry until I conditioned. I would recommend this to some of my friends purely based on its price. I didnt feel it really restored anything to my hair...but again this may be because I colour my hair.

Tips: Use a small amount at a time as it lathers up really well.

Won't Be Rushing Out to Purchase

I was keen to see how a product I used regularly in the past would stack up after changes to the formula. I am so fed up with companies changing formulas that work for me. I had no issues at all with the previous formula, finding it perfect for my past shoulder length, wavy, thick hair (I used the Hydrating Curl formula). Packing made it hard to even tell there had been a change. Same look .Same price bracket. There the similarity ends. The smell was far better than the old product but from the first wash found this shampoo made my hair coarse and strawlike. Hardly moisture renewing and definitely not silken in feel or look. I have blonde streaked hair and the streaked areas felt like I had been in the sea and sun for a week and looked even worse. This is a shampoo I would never use again, either on its own or with the matching conditioner. Only after applying the conditioner did my hair take on some semblance of normailty again, albeit still coarse and fluffy. Not a look I was going to ever be happy with. Epic fail.

Tips: I only wash my hair every three or four days and always blow wave it dry. This shampoo (and conditioner) made my hair look and feel unhealthy. Maybe not the best option for coarse wavy hair. Perhaps the new Hydrating Curl formula might work better for my hair type. Only a trial of that new formula will tell.

Not my favourite

Nothing special. Still got the recognizable overwhelming smell of Pantene, which isn't pleasant. Also, it adds a little *too* much moisture, and it just makes it greasy.

Alright

I used this product for a week and was hopeful it would make my hair feel silky and light. I have very fine hair and can really notice the difference between supermarket brand products and hair salon products. Unfortunately I did not notice difference between this and other supermarket brands.

Did what it said, but wasn't helpful to my hair

Although in the past I have found Pantene range of shampoo to be too drying for my hair, this new formula is less harsh. I’m not sure if I would replace my normal sulphate free shampoo for it though as it still left my hair with a slight dry straw effect before applying conditioner, and I would not use this daily! It just made my hair too soft to the point it went crazy fluffy and frizzy.

The design of the bottles is great though, for the size you really get value for money, the lid is easy to operate even in the shower and the whole branding with the golden toned colours is very simple but effective. One odd thing about the shampoo is that the formula consistency is rather thick in comparison to other shampoo on the market, and I found the shampoo formula to be even thicker than the conditioner which is peculiar in my experience but I guess it is thick to add moisture to hair, being thicker also means that is foams up almost immediately as it hits your wet hair so bear this in mind as you really only need a little dot of it to cover your head.

Fragrance wise it started off with an almond aroma but continually use has seen that dim away to a none descriptive scent which leaves no residue of fragrance on your hair. I’m normally a girl who only washes her hair once a week but for the purpose of reviewing this shampoo properly I stuck with its instruction of daily use, as in the name of the product Daily Moisture Renewal Shampoo.

not for me

I am one to usually purchase salon hair products, but thought since I was given a sample of this shampoo and conditioner, I may as well give Pantene another shot.

I personally didn't particularly like the smell - I prefer the old Pantene smells over this one.

The texture and consistency is really nice however and it seemed to wash my hair okay only after 3 times in a row.

overall, I wouldn't pick this supermarket shampoo over another supermarket shampoo if I had to.. For now I will stick to salon products.
