I went into Farmers in Glenfield and freaked out when I saw the Essence stand. As soon as I saw their lipsticks I had to try a few. I got a few pinky colours and a red colour. Firstly- at around $3 these lipsticks are amazing! They are so creamy and soft to apply and feel really moisturizing. I don't know if it is just NZ but the only comment I would have is to make the colour selection bigger as there are a log of pinks. I would love to see more nudes and purples and oranges. The lipstick is slightly smaller than normal but for $3 I am not complaining!

Reviews
Tips: They do tend to melt a bit faster when left in a hot spot e.g a car, so make sure they are stored away in a cool place but otherwise I love them!
After reading on BR that Essence products were fantastic quality for the price, I couldn't help myself to grab a few things in my local shop that stocks this. I felt like I had won the lottery when I saw this brightly coloured stand chocca full of Essence.
As I saw how highly rated the lipstick was from BR reviews, this was the first product to be picked. A shade I selected was 'oh so matte'. I don't normally go for nude-type colours but this was the last lipstick oh this colour left and I thought hmm, this must be good and an image of Kylie Jenner popped in my mind! But I thought, for six dollars or so, how can I go wrong?
The packaging is simplistic, but sleek. In a black tube with a circular ring around it with the chosen lipstick colour. Although inexpensive, I think the packaging is quite stylish.
My shade 'oh so matte' is a lovely pinky, brown nude. It's surprised me how wearable this colour is, ever since I've got this I've been reaching for it over my usual lippies,
Normally inexpensive lipsticks, like Jordana are way too drying for my lips, and for this reason are not wearable for me. However, this Essence lipstick is so hydrating - I love it!
What I love about this is how moisturising it is for my dry lips. For such s reasonable price it's a fantastic formula that just glides on your lips and makes them feel lovely and moisturised.
Would definitely recommend these and can't wait to add more colours to my collection!
As soon as I saw the Essence stand at my local farmers I headed straight over to the lipstick section. I grabbed a nude lippy in 63 Flattering Nude. Most lipstick colours were sold out as I purchased this as soon as the Essence range came out at Farmers.
The lipstick is in your average lipstick tube with a lid you pull off, then wind the lipstick up. The lippy smells heavenly like vanilla. I love the scent! The formula of this lipstick is so creamy and moisturizing. Its crazy how well it applies! It lasts quite a long time but it can transfer at first but after a while it actually stays on my lips. I intend on buying more of these as they are little gems for such a cheap affordable price.
These currently cost $5.20 each at Farmers and I picked up three: Coral Calling (bright coral), Love Me (muted coral) and Cool Nude (darkish nude). I'm mad about all of them and at the price they are I will go back and pick up a few extras to keep in my classroom/car/etc. They feel great. Really moisturising and creamy. The colour is excellent and they're well pigmented. Also very flattering colours - both "Love Me" and "Cool Nude" were great sort of my-lips-but-better shades for my pale skin. I'm yet to make a decision on wear time. As far as I can tell, it's pretty good - and for the price, I don't mind reapplying after eating. The packaging is great - they seal well and have a nice matte finish. I'm quite comfortable flinging them in my handbag and trusting them to stay shut. I love these and I'll be sure to buy more of them. I do wish we had more colours available! I hear there are bolder shades in the range, but I've yet to see them at Farmers.
I am loving this brands quality and affordability! I have the shade coral calling and it is a beautiful pop of colour for days when I am wearing a lot of black. The formula is very creamy with a hint of shine. I don't feel like this lipstick has awesome staying power but at this price I don't mind having to reapply. My tube has the old packaging- a plain black with the coral calling sticker on the base, which is simple and clean. The packaging show would be handy however for quick identification in your handbag. Will definitely be back for more essence lippies- I have my eye on a nude!
Every time I visit the Essence stand at my local Farmers I always swatch their lippies (& end up buying one). They are super affordable, creamy formula and wear quite well. I find the matte ones wear longer for me, are really pigmented and don’t dry out my lips. The packaging is decent, hasn’t broken and the lid stays on so can’t ask for more really. Am sure I will be adding to my collection next time I am in Farmers.
Tips: Worth a try for the price
I picked this lipstick up one day while I was looking at the essence stand in Farmers. How could I not really, these are so affordable and I thought it's no big deal if I don't end up liking it.
I think the packaging of these is quite nice. Each lipstick is a different color depending on which shade you have. So super handy if you have a few lipsticks. The lid also clicks securely.
I have this in the shade 53 all about cupcake. It's a beautiful nude pink. I call this the my lips but better lipstick. The formula is nice and creamy, my lips feel really moisturized with it. It doesn't run out over my lip line at all. Sometimes I put on liner, but if I'm in a hurry I won't. The finish is a slight shine.
Unfortunately, the lasting power isn't great. It only lasts a couple of hours on me. I find I have this issue with most lipsticks though unless they are stains or liquid mattes.
This lipstick has a sweet vanilla scent. The doesn't taste like anything and I don't get any gross aftertaste from it.
I'd like to pick up a few more shades at some stage. They have a really big range of colors. I'd recommend these to pretty much anyone.
I have the Cool Nude and Natural Beauty shade from this range. Both are very creamy and easy to apply. The colour is somewhat opaque and matte. Regular touch ups will keep these looking nice all day. Not quite as good as the Jordana lipstick for the same price, and not as many colours, but certainly worth the experiment if you haven't tried a cheapie lipstick.
I can't find the lipgloss to review but I can say that I would not know how to live without their lipgloss. I love it to death,
I purchased one of the Essence lipstick in the colour Go Berries, it's a nice fuchsia/plum colour.
The first thing I noticed about the essence lipsticks while swatching in store was how creamy + pigmented they are. I decided to buy one to try out. I found that the lipstick wasn't drying, lasted for a decent amount of time (around 2 hours before I had to re-apply). I was glad that it didn't stain my lips so when it did wear off it wasn't crazy noticeable.
I found I didn't need to apply a lip balm underneath as it was so moisturising as it is. I'm going to go buy more colours soon since they are so cheap!
I have the lipstick in the black container (don't know how they differ) But I love the packaging of it - the other lipsticks packaging remind me of elf + nyx lipsticks they look kind of cheap but for what you pay you really can't complain!
