Affordable Liquid Lipsticks

I have both Dreamy and Fleur matte pigment gloss and let me first say that the word gloss is misleading as it is simply a liquid lipstick - nothing about it is glossy!

They come in a thick, sturdy tube package with a flat doe foot applicator, which is great for a cheaper product. Dreamy is a beautiful pinky nude and Fleur is a deep terracotta shade. They do apply darker on the lips than they appear in the tube so be sure to check swatches online.

I would suggest to use a lip liner as they can be tricky to apply with the flat applicator (takes getting used to). The liquid lipstick takes a while to dry down and once it is dry, they remains tacky throughout the day. They do feel very drying on the lips but the lip liner does definitely helps with that. Once I have eaten or drank, they wear off on my inner lip and leave a crusty worn area. They do need to be reapplied to that area and definitely don't look perfect afterwards. At the end of the day, the product is quite hard to take off my lips so their long-lasting claims are true (apart from the inner lip problem already mentioned). Due to their long-wearing nature, they would be perfect to wear out to a party or somewhere for a few hours where there is not too much eating involved.

Overall, I do like it as an affordable liquid lipstick but you get what you pay for. If you don't mind having dry but tacky lips or re-applying throughout the day then it's a good cheap option. I love the colours that I own and will probably re-purchase because of that - I just wear them for a few hours at a party or down the street.

[DUPE? Dreamy is similar to the Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Serenity but slightly lighter. It is a good colour alternative but the formula of the Gerard Cosmetics Lipstick is much better if you can afford to pay the price.]

Tips: 1. Use a lipbalm beforehand and use a lip liner as a base all over the lips 2. Take them in your handbag for re-application after eating

First is a GO!

I just bought my first LA Girl Matte Pigment Gloss, I wondered about the shade of Fleur through the lip tube and how dark it would be on my skin tone. I am happy with the creamy application and how quickly matte it goes. Will definitely be purchasing more!

Tips: Try any colour, even if it's not you. You might just end up loving it!

lasts forever

this product once on the lips will stay on for a very long time, an is extremely hard to get off. it has a good colour range at an affordable price whic is good, but if yo are going to put it on, yo must commit to it as it is very difficult to get off, also it is quite drying on the lips.

Long wear, highly pigmented colour, affordable

I own one of these in the shade Tulle. The packaging of the gloss is very classy and good quality, considering the low price of the gloss. The gloss comes in a heavy sleek black and transparent tube, with a sponge tip wand that makes application a breeze. Tulle is an incredibly bright neon pink. It was a colour that I didn't think was very wearable at first, but when I wore the shade, I got a lot of compliments, so it must suit me! This goes on as a liquid gloss and dries matte very quickly. The colour is incredibly bright and pigmented and lasts on me all day, aside from a bit of wear when eating. This was very cheap and I'd consider purchasing more of these in the future as I have nothing bad to say about this product.

Fleur - Terracotta beige nude

I have the shade Fleur, a rich terracotta beige nude which I think is wearable on most skin tones. I bought this product from Makeup NZ for $12.00.

It comes in chunky packaging where you're left to believe there's a lot of product but you only get 5 grams. It has a whipped mousse-like consistency that goes smoothly on the lips and is opaque with one swatch. The longevity of the product is great, it can last me a good 5 hours if I don't eat or drink (but I'm not that crazy!).

The product definitely lives up to everything it claims unfortunately there are some minor issues I have with it. The product stays wet longer than most matte liquid lipsticks I've tried; it probably takes 2-3 minutes if not longer. Once dry, you'll notice that the shade is much darker than when it's wet so don't be put off with the shade you see in the tube.

I don't like how the product feels when it's dry. It almost feels stiff so I tend to put a light touch of lip balm to make it feel more comfortable without ruining the matte effect (my preference). Lastly if you apply too much the product will become thick and begin to peel off which believe me looks quite unsightly! With other liquid lipsticks I can get away with putting 3 coats and it'll still be ok.

These minor issues wouldn't stop me from repurchasing because the price point is good and the shades they have in this range are amazing - I have my eye on two other shades!

Tips: If you find Fleur too light, lightly go over your lips with a brick red lip pencil. If you find it too dark, mix it with a lighter nude lipstick (before it dries).

Great affordable product

I own three of these, Blackcurrant, Frisky and Dreamy. I don't know if I would class this as a gloss though, definitely a matte lipstick in liquid form.

While I love the formula of this product I was underwhelmed by the tacky feeling it left when dried. It dries super quick once applied and staying power is great with little transfer when eating and drinking.

The colours are really pigmented and exactly like the swatches you will find online, true to colour.

The packaging is playful but chunky. The cylinder tube is quite chunky with a a stick applicator attached to the screw top lid.

I recommend a liner with these I find them alot more manageable to able with my lips lined.

For the price I think these are great, it's a shame about the tacky feeling once dried but it's something I can live with!

I purchased 2 of my three from a nz makeup website for $9 a piece, very resonance and really affordable!

Tips: Use a lip liner before applying!

Great product, great value

I managed to pick up a couple of these in the last vault, both red shades (Frisky & Secret.)

First of all I want to say that I find these are a great alternative to the Lime Crime velveteens (which I also have a couple of), as it seems that the velveteens matte lip-sticks are very well-known and saught-after. Infact, I find these to be pretty much the same in texture, wear, and over-all look (on the lips) as Lime Crime velveteens, (and less than half the price!)

These are definitely more like lipsticks rather than glosses, I guess they're labeled as such as the texture is very smooth and glides on like a gloss. The color is very dense, one coat is completely opaque.

Staying-power is awesome, doesn't flake, strongly resists general wear (fading, leaving prints on cups,) and you actually need to use a quite heavy-duty scrub or makeup remover to get it off your lips when it's time.

The only not so fab thing that I find with these is that they are a little drying, it pays to make sure your lips are well hydrated prior to applying.. Never the less, very happy with these and will be more than happy to pick up a few more shades.

L A Girl Matte Pigment Gloss

This comes in a thick clear plastic tube with a black lid. You can see how much you have left in the tube so that is helpful.

The applicator has a sponge tip which holds a good amount of the product and is quite easy to use.

I thought the matte gloss is very pigmented, the colours are very rich looking. I found it was easy to apply, the colour changed slightly on my lips, but still close to the colour in the tube.

The issue I have with this product is as it wore off during the day I got left with lips that looked like I was only wearing a lip liner. It wore away from my inner lips, it looked awful!

I am happy I gave something like this a try, but I will stick with what I know and love.

love these

i currently own 8 LA girl matte pigment gloss. Despite the name of these. These are actually liquid lipsticks. These liquid lipsticks are very afffordable and they are all very pigmented. I only dislike 2 of the 8 I own. I dislike fantasy as I find fantasy very patchy and the colour does not suit me. The other colour I dislike is backstage. It is very streaky therefore, applies unevenly. I think the darker colours are a bit streaky. However, the colour bazzar is beautiful and is my favourite out of the 8 I own. These are all very pigmented and stain ur lips, therefore the staying power on these are amazing. They are so pigmented that they are very difficult to remove when u swatch them on ur hands so they require oil or a makeup remover to remove it.

Obsessed!!

I don't know how to start this review, mostly because I have so many things to say! Well, currently I own 6 shades from this range: Bazaar, Fleur, Frisky, Rebel, Backstage, and Dreamy.

"Bazaar" is a beautiful warm watermelon pink, and my favourite shade from my collection. Every single time I'd wear it out one of my friends would always ask me what I'm wearing because she loves it. I ended up buying her one too! "Fleur" is my second favourite, but comes as a close first, it is a rosy-toned terracotta that looks like a perfect nude on my olive skin. For my olive skinned girls, please don't sleep on this shade, I highly recommend it.

"Frisky" is your typical blue-based vintage red - honestly, it's not remarkable so probably pass on this if you already have a colour like it in your stash. "Rebel" is a very plummy-purple vampy shade, very suitable to its name. I honestly can't remember the last time I wore this as my friends said I looked very mean and unapproachable (lol). It's very 'Halloween witch' or '90s goth girl'.

In terms of the streakiest formulas from the 6 lipsticks, both "Backstage" and "Dreamy" take the crown. "Backstage" is an oxblood red, but streaks very badly. Some patches of my lips would be darker, others lighter, and don't get me started once I've eaten anything oily. Just a complete mess overall; a shame since the colour is so lovely. For "Dreamy" I had heard people saying it was a Kylie Jenner-esque nude shade, but once I put it on my lips it was much too coral and baby-pink for me. This, of course, may be different for lighter skinned people. It settled intensely into the lines of my lips and made them look super dried out.

In regards to the staying power, I believe these products are amazing. Obviously when eating any oily foods the colour does fade especially in the inner mouth region; however, these liquid lipsticks are one of my favourites from all the ones I own (KVD, CP, NYX, WnW, Kylie Co., Rimmel, Chichi, MeNow). I believe it is transferproof once it's completely dry. They're also good to touch up with as they don't crumble like other liquid lipsticks.

Altogether, I highly recommend this range as they last a good time, are super pigmented, affordable, and easily accessible in NZ. I only wish they had a wider colour range like CP.

Tips: Always make sure your lips are exfoliated/smooth/not cracked, as the lipstick will definite accentuate all of the lines overtime. Also keep to one layer as much as possible especially for the streakier shades.
