Was ok

I put this colour through about a week ago and it was ok. It shows a lot of golden tones in my hard more than blonde and my roots look completely golden. It made my hair feel pretty alright after. The smell of the colour itself wasn't over powering but the conditioner smelt really bad. I didn't like the conditioner at all.

Was not a fan

So I was Given the trial of the L'Oreal Casting Creme Gloss Hair Colour and I choose the Colour 412 Iced Cocoa which is a beautiful Shiny dark brown, my hair was just a medium brown but i had Blonde and Purple Panels through my hair that i wanted to get rid of.

Well to start off with the packaging is good, cool funky shaped box, lots of colour to catch the eye, lots of little information sections that are easy to read, the bottle of the formula are easy to mix the product in to, was not a fan of the conditioner bottle though, I struggled to get it out and had to bang it or smash it just to get it out and even then there was more i just couldn't get out and felt like it was a waste of product.

The Formula of the actual colour was nice, it was not too runny but then the dye wasn't too thick either, so application was easy and the product was workable into all areas, it did smell really good, no watery eyes while doing the application. So after applying the product to my entire hair i checked it to ensure it was covering my entire hair and was satisfied that i was got it all, in the instructions it had said to wait 20min which was good, I cant stand those ones where you have to wait for 45min. I left it in for 30 though just because I knew that i had the blonde and purple in my hair that needed to be covered, Wash out was simple, I didnt feel like It was a struggle to remove which was good as some colours you can feel like your washing them out forever, i felt like after i washed it out, my hair was dryer though than it normally would be after a full colour which had me a little concerned, I towel dried my hair as it said in the instructions and then added the conditioner, I put a little extra in the ends as I was worried about the dryness, left the conditioner for 15min then combed it through before washing it out, Well my hair was dry and gross I was not a fan or that after using this colour, the dryness did not go away I had to get in to a hair salon for a moisture treatment on my hair just to help it, I don't know if that was because of the L'Oreal Casting Creme Gloss or what but my hair was not in that condition even with blonde panels before using this product and then I saw that the colour didn't take over some of my purple panels and had little purple patches throughout my hair, again I don't know if I missed them while doing the application or if the product just did not take but I thought I had double checked my hair after applying the formula. So that I did not like.

So overall, I am not a fan of this product, it dried my hair out, everything else was okay actually do not get me wrong, it will be an amazing product for someone else but my hair personally did not like it, I think it would be great for someone who wants a semi-permanent colour at a great price with a huge range of colours and the colours are beautiful, it again is just not a product i will reach for again.

Tips: Use barrier Cream or Vaseline around your hair line and over the ears and the colour will not stain the skin, or if you do get it on the skin, use shampoo on the corner of a face cloth and scrub asap, shampoo is a colour stripper. And also dont shampoo hair for 48hrs after a colour, helps the colour last.

L'Oreal Casting Creme Gloss

Where to Begin? Right from the start I was annoyed with this product. Every time I moved the box, the product would fall out the bottom. When I was ready to colour my hair, I found it hard to read the instructions as they were a few different languages. Thank goodness there was numbers and pictures. As for the product itself, I was very easy to mix and apply. The non-drip formula made for a fast and fuss free application with no mess. I did however find that when rinsing the colour out, my hair feel like straw. I thought this might be normal and used the conditioner as directed. Still no change. I was so disappointed! With the promise of shine and soft silky hair I really looked forward to trying Crème Gloss, but all I got is dry, horrible feeling hair. The colour was however fantastic. Black Cherry is a beautiful rich red colour. I got many compliments about the colour, but was told that my hair looked dull. Not something you want to hear after you have just coloured your hair! I gave this product a 2 purely because I love the colour, but would not buy this product again.

Tips: I found putting a little Vaseline around the hair line, helped to keep the colour from staining your forehead.

Not for me

First of all I thought I would tell you about my hair. I have very long hair (all the way down my back) and it's very thick. My natural hair colour is brown which tends to get lighter in the summer.

I usually get a full head of blonde high light. The last time I coloured my hair was a year ago as I fell pregnant and don't like to colour my hair while pregnant.

I got on the trial team for the L'Oreal Casting Creme Gloss and I chose the colour 1021 very light, pearl blonde Permanent colour. I thought by choosing this colour I could freshen up some of my high lights and try diy ombré effect, as my roots are dark again from not dying it in a year.

The product: The packaging seemed to be very flimsy, not sure it that was just from going through the post or not.

The instructions where very basic and short, a lot of foreign language instructions. The labelling on the bottles were just numbers, it didn't say the name of each product. But if you have done at home hair dying before you would know which is which. The gloves were so tiny and tight I had to squeeze my hand into them so it was quite uncomfortable.

The dye smelt nice not to chemically which was good, it mixed together well and applied onto my hair well also.

It suggested to do a patch test which I did on a darker piece of hair after I had left it for the required time I rinsed and dried. It had lightened it so I thought I'd get stuck into the rest.

As I said I wanted to try the DIY ombré effect so I just applied to the mid section and a lot more to the bottom section to really lighten them (they were already quite light from my previous high lights) the dye was so easy to use.

After the required time I washed it out and then applied the conditioner supplied, which smells very nice and is a thick conditioner. Good for my hair type. After I washed the conditioner out I blow dried it to see the colour change.

I was very disappointed :( instead of lightening my already light ends it turned them a caramel colour and the same with the mid section. Which I was very surprised about because on the side of the box it has the picture of what colour your hair should go depending on what colour it already is. Mine was light blonde (where I was dying) and the pictures showed an ever lighter colour when dying already blonde hair but unfortunately this didn't happen for me.

Wouldn't use this again.

Really disappointing!

I trialled the shade 1021 Very Light Pearl Blonde in the hope that it would make my bleach blonde hair a more natural shade of blonde, but the dye didn't seem to change my hair colour at all - the only difference I noticed was that my roots became a slightly lighter gingery colour.

This dye is really easy to use, with normal home colouring bottles and tubes, and the formula is really nice - lovely to not have that awful ammonia smell! I did find that the application bottle wasn't very strong and made it hard to get the last of the product out, but I loved that I only needed to use one box on my long hair which usually needs at least two. I was also pleasantly surprised by the relatively big bottle of conditioner that was provided as usually I need to add my own conditioner as well as I never have enough.

However, that's where the pros end for me as my colour did not change at all. Perhaps the box I got was a dud because all the other reviews are raving, or maybe it was because I wasn't trying to dramatically change my hair colour, but my hair is no different before and after using this product. My hair does seem shinier however, but as a result of my hair dying experience I won't be trying this product (or at least this shade) again.
